So once again. Often I have been asked about the flight duration. So here again a detailed answer. Unlike the many other high-flying pigeon breeds worldwide, the breeding aims of the Vienna Highflyers are the altitude (flight up to invisible heights) and the fast, agile flying style. Similar to a sprinter, who doesn´t run a marathon, a Vienna Highflyer should not fly for many hours. They don´t fear peregrine falcons because of their reactive, fast and agile flying style. I´m not interested in pigeons, which fly 10 hours, but which could be easily picked like ripe fruits from the air by the peregrines. The charm of my breed lies in the flight choreography and not in the length of their flight. They are not Tipplers. Personally, it is boring for me to watch pigeons that fly 8 hours and more in a circle. I have no time to look 8 hours and more in the sky. I need action in the air and love it to watch them dancing in the air. So remember the FLYING TIME is totally UNIMPORTANT in this breed. The aim is altitude, speed, style and as few falcon losses as possible.
@@CuMulusDancerZ Great answer. 100% agree. I love this fast flying style with those crazy fast direction changes. Wish you could film them making fun of the falcon.
I will try. The problem is that I don't have that much clear view from my garden to keep the camera fully focused. Houses and trees often obscure the view when the falcon and pigeon fall down.

Heya !
i have serbian highflyers but much loses from the falcon this is best breed to fly nowadays because od the falcon and dinamic lifestyle but very hard to find pure race in my place
Serbians Serbs are endurance fliers. As you can see in the videos, Viennese are much more agile in flight but they fly only 1-3 hours. I haven't lost a single pigeon to the peregrine falcon for four years now. Really. But not every Viennese HF strain is as fast and agile as my Viennese HF. Most breeders crossed in Tipplers and Budapest HF and create long and slow flying birds with the same falcon problems.
I wonder what the results would be if a young kit of racing pigeons was mixed in with these kinds of birds and it taught the racers to fly higher. Would it make the racing pigeons home quicker?
Certainly, theoretically it would support the training of the racing pigeons. In practice, flying Vienna Highflyers and racing pigeons do not fly together. Racing pigeons fly at high speed in large circles, Vienna Highflyers fly either in a left-right zig zag style or even in small tight circles. In addition, Viennas are very shy and flee from other birds. Even from other pigeon breeds also. Recently, racing pigeons remain down during their home training. They avoid the height. So as you see, it is an good idea but unfortunately it will not work.
In India (punjab) our competion is in different village and pigeon have to fly on that village if he ran then we check all the pigeons after 12 pm then time will given to each pigeon member to show your pigeon if he cant then we cut his name from competion and the pigeon who sit in last like competion start at 6:30 am to 7:00pm lst pigeons if 2 or 3 remains they are winner in india punjab gifts are like cars , fridge, cups and cash money …
The breed is calles Vienna Highflying Pigeon. By the way, we keep and breed also Serama chickens, but we prefer the more natural ones, with have no laying problems.
You're right. It is believed that the ancestors of these pigeons come from India and the Near East. They were brought to Europe around 200 years ago by sailors and refined here into high-performance flying pigeons. As you can see they fly much faster in comparison to the Indian breeds and look sleeker.
Hi Chris, a successful flight is based on the following factors: weather, genetics, feeding, training, health and age. If only one of these factors is not correct, you will not get good flights. So check if everything is right with your management.
@@CuMulusDancerZ I fly rollers and they are flying good I'll just ceep letting the Vienna out and hope I get some flying and breed out of them what feed are you feeding and about how much thanks Chris
@@chrislosee1265 Viennas are the opposite to Rollers. To increase the rolling activity you weaken the rollers usually and feed them pure milo. The Vienna High Flyers get a strong mix. My flying kit for example gets 1 part corn, 1 part vetches and 1 part hemp.

Normally one round per year. That's why I often can not even sell pigeons to my own pigeon friends at home. Second: Because of the many regulations, shipping is too complicated nowadays. Sorry.
