Hi! Thank you for making this video, there are many players who are excited and exploring thorns and poison build ideas like me as evidenced on Reddit. Since several months ago when I saw a Barbarian Thorns/Bleeding "Do Not Hit Me" build w/ tons of tanky life that looked like fun, I explored the Thorns concept with my Sorcerer, and finally got the tools w/ Spiritborn to do a good a Poison+Thorns build. I'd personally love to see more streamers like you come up w/ creative poison+thorns build, maybe using this as a base for the build concept, and seeing if you can mix in the Craze of the Dead God unique gloves (changes all damage dealt to poison taken over time, reduces resistance stacking to just poison resistance; like Andariel's Visage, adds Lucky Hit Chance to apply the potent Touch of Death to all skill-based hits, has ranks of max poison resistance, healing, and poison damage multiplier built right in w/ Antivenom and Nourishment!). Based on what I've seen in the Pit, adding poison damage type to Vortexed enemies really acts like an accelerant for my friend's damage, despite my poison damage being insignificant compared to his massive quill volley damage. What could it look like to combine the Craze gloves w/ a thorns-centered build, and maybe use Crushing Hands or sticking w/ Basic skills, Withering Fist, as a fast AoE way to get lots of rapid hits to do scalable, AoE, vulnerable damage as well as proc the LHC for Touch of Death? And, every thorns hit triggered by a skill like Armored Hide, Toxic Skin have a chance to proc the ToD. I call this the "payload" of every time I get to hit an enemy, what else can be piled onto a thorns hit? How far down the poison and thorns path have you gone/plan to go? I'm thinking your build could serve as a base to really embrace thorns, thorns as attack speed-independent and scalable distribution mechanism for poison damage, something w/ active attacks w/ fast, AoE damage like Rocksplitter, Withering Fist, or even Crushing Hands to be like the Barb's Earthquake? Keep the off-meta updates coming, we appreciate them.
I've been using this build from the start. Still missing a few things and I'm only on torment 2 but it's really fun. I love playing something different. Tired of all the quill volley / dash builds. Keep up the good work. This build is really cool.
Yea, I have been messing with thorns since the beginning, and just saving gear with GA thorns/Rock S./Basic. I went with centipede skills and run the aspects for free payback/stomp. Helped me with bosses.
@@UlfhednarTV Thanks for replying! Is Unyielding hits not working with gorilla main hall a bug or is it because it doesn't impact thorns? Also, how does potent work in this build? Does casting ravager make your attacks count as jaguar?
Could you explain better how the increase in basic damage of Rock Splitter works (through temper) because as far as I understand, the only thing that matters about Rock Splitter is using it as a way to apply thorns, through its passive (accelerated rock splitter). Because of this, the base damage of the skill should not interfere in any way with the build, so much so that you only put one point in the skill, and did not put rank + in the pants, increasing the damage of the skill even more
Im still testing so im not sure about all that works. so far rock splitter is different then any other thorns application in the game. everything else works like you described it but rocksplitter DOES increase with alot of stuff. you asked about basic skill damage on equip and i havent tested that one yet myself, but multiplicative increases to basic attacks do work. so stuff like moonrise aspect and other multipliers do indeed buff rocksplitter thorns but not for example thorns coming from gorilla spirit hall or needleflare aspect. crit still doesnt work like with every other thorns application.
As I understand it Rock Splitter takes your thorns damage and applies it in its own attack through Accelerated. Now, because skill ranks don't increase the percentage of Accelerated, they don't really matter. But since the third attack adds your thorns damage to the actual skill, it is affected by increases in basic damage. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong with this line of logic.
@@FloresNathaniel sounds logical but why doesnt it then work the same way with payback aspect which is basically worded the same way. maybe it is just a bug after all.
@@jinkxy2370 It seems to apply the bonus based on the source. The source for Accelerated is the skill (since the node is part of the skill) but for the Payback aspect the source is the affix and therefore does not take any enhancements that apply to a skill. Another example is the Brilliance passive node. It states that it enhances Eagle SKILL damage. That means if our first hall would be the eagle (which means Payback and Rock Splitter would be eagle skills) the same logic would apply. Accelerated thorns would be buffed and Payback aspect thorns not. (the aspect is not an eagle skill). Side note: Gorilla Hall thorns do count as gorilla damage and scale based of it. Hey I just looked up this video because I’ve been trying to make the build work as well. But I thought basic skill damage wouldn’t matter on the Thorns build since Thorns doesn’t scale off your skill damage, does it? Why is stacking basic skill damage helping the damage of your Thorns?
