      Puppy is a beatmaker though don’t get it twisted he can make a beat on his own and has Dunso just like Jermaine Dipree but yes you are right in Timberland does it too when they use keyboard is and people who actually know how to play instruments I noticed that for instance Timberland will come up with the percussion and start out a B and then he’ll tap in with the keyboardist J. Cole also does the same thing so at some point we got to start to wonder who actually produces on their own I believe R. Kelly might’ve done a lot of things actually all on his own Ryan Leslie did things on his own those are people who really need the credit when it comes to producing not just people who are rains other people stuff

      What’s the difference

    • @jman1562001
      @jman1562001 2 года назад +27

      @@anotherway18 From my understanding a beatmaker essentially makes the beat, but a producer arranges/composes the record. Adding little sounds, putting a singer here or there, laying another instrumentation, basically bringing the record to life in a different way. For example, the MVP remix record was originally BIG L's single, Puff took that same record and instead removed the boom bap style more prominent and smoothed it out with the piano and little subtle elements which became
      "One More Chance". Same beat, but a different record. Plus being a A&R/music executive, the fact that the Puff's and Irv's have a name recognition gives it more credibility then a say a upcoming beatmaker.
      Hell didn't the guy from the Hitman Production squad take credit for Kanye West beats that too.

    Were the tracks buy-outs/ghost production or exclusive licenses w/liner credits? If they were buy-outs then he has every right to say he owns the composition/track.

      Its not foul because he aint have the relationships. Its like being a talented basketball player but you didnt go through the ncaa. Its possible to get drafted but highly unlikely if the right people dont know you.

      Bro hes lucky he got credit. What do you think is harder? To convince Def Jam to give you a label deal and trust you with their artists or making a hot beat? Making beats is overrated, its about assembling the right artist with the right beat with the hardest part...a bag for marketing. Remember Irv gave that nigga a career, that producer aint give Irv a career. Irv already had hits and was known in the game. He aint know Irv he probably be selling beats for chump change in the hood.

      @@jermainelawrence664 wrong. Self already was established and had song placements prior to connecting with Irv. Did you watch the interview? All Irv deserved, for quarterbacking the DMX play, was a finders fee, not 25% of the publishing. That's some snake sh##. Irv could've easily negotiated a fair number with Self, after X decided to pick that beat.

    I get it. Not everybody is built the same way, but I just have such a healthy respect for people who don’t feel the need to talk in a negative way about anybody that gave them opportunities. Especially opportunities that they probably wouldn’t have had on their own and that open bigger doors for them down the road. Everybody’s entitled to move the best way that they see fit however. There’s some people I could just never see myself publicly ever saying a negative word about even though I’m not even as active in that business any more

      Right. He probably made a million off that song and got the Credit. Don't cry about it 20 years later.

    A music composer is much more than someone who can visualize the music and how it should sound. That person writes, plays or produces the sound via instrument or by utilizing a beat machine etc etc
