What was the mileage when you got it also do you still own it? Im intrested in buying one but has 80k mileage and is £2,500. I currently drive a £200 01 fiesta so im being very cautious buying a new car.
Bought one of these at the weekend and can confirm the steering, brakes and gear change are all fantastic and that the roof operation couldn’t be simpler and I have to feed the seatbelt back every time I get out And I love it
Very nice review. I own a 2007 Miata Touring with the soft top and love it! I've never had any other car that's put a smile on my face like the Miata. The Miata is simply a blast to drive and own. They're inexpensive, reliable, and sexy. Every time I park my Miata, I always look back at it while walking away. It's such a great looking little roadster. It gets compliments almost anywhere I go. And that's amazing, especially for a 12 year old car. It is not my daily driver, but every time I do drive it , I want to drive it more. Get one, I promise you won't regret it.
I am turning 21 Soon and looking to change car considering a mx-5 don't want to be the typical 21 year old with a ford fiesta st or corsa vxr, want a car that actually handles correct. This reviewed helped thank-you
+SmurfyGaming Do it mate, 1.8s are now very reasonable. Im 22 and had my 2.0 sport for 6 months and every person who sees it makes a comment. whenever the sun is out I have to take it out for a blast!
Your mention your drain clean out tool was a key point you mentioned on the soft top model.Top marks to you for it.Great review.I have a 2011 with the hard top.But for me,living in Canada it's a must have.Anyway, enjoyed your honest review. Many thanks Dave from Ontario.Canada.
Brilliant review - I concur with it all. So now in 2018 they're around £3k and a steal - I just bought a 2006 NC MX-5 with 70,000 miles on the clock and I love it. I've had the steering wheel re-covered in leather and a bit thicker as the stock wheel is a bit thin, and replaced the stereo with a Pioneer Carplay unit meaning I have satnav. 4 cup holders was a bit mental so I used the IL Motorsport replacement centre console and fitted a USB socket (rather than the 12V socket) inside it so I can hide away my iPhone in the armrest connected to the pioneer. Drives amazingly well, and I hope for many years to come. Plus the fact you can put the roof up and down at Traffic Lights really helps in the UK with our random weather :D
Thx for a great review! You put in a lot of more useful information than a lot of "professional" reviewers does (hope I didn't hurt your feelings ;-). Keep up the good work!
Worth noting that the retractable hardtop doesn't have the storage cubbies behind the seats (only the one in the centre) as the roof retracts into that space. There are also easily-fitted aftermarket solutions that convert those redundant centre cupholders into a much more usable rectangular lidded storage box. Aftermarket solutions are also available to address the lack of a sporty exhaust rasp... Personally I find the 158bhp on offer to be perfectly adequate - as long as the driver has the necessary nous to anticipate overtaking opportunities etc and get the thing into the appropriate gear (using that delicious gearchange) to take advantage. It's not a 3.0 litre six cylinder and trying to drive it like one will disappoint. Road noise? It's a fecking convertible! Having said that, there is scope to install a little sound deadening material on the floorpan and firewall - although removing the carpets to do this is a right old faff. Great review though :-)
Excellent and very accurate review. Definitely something amiss with your seat adjusters because the seat is visibly not all the way back, but everything else absolutely spot on and very well informed. There is an aftermarket centre tray that does away with the silly cupholders and also adds a second accessory socket to charge phones etc out of the public gaze. It is also common to fit 30mm lowering springs to this model MX5 which improves on the already brilliant handling.
Excellent video! I love the detailed knowledge you impart with these reviews, the costs involved in running one, this really sets you apart from the more superficial videos out there and you have obviously done your homework. The price brackets that the cars you review fall into is also a good call, affordable cars that your average Joe looking for a bit of excitement can consider. Please keep it up and I hope you get get more subscribers to encourage you to do so.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a comment & for your kind feedback. I plan on continuing the car reviews, it's just availability to the cars that's the issue. I wanted to review cars that can be exciting to drive with a realistic price tag as well as some more expensive cars to give people real insight into owning vehicles like the ones tested.
Hi I'm really pleased I stumbled across this vid. Looking to buy one for the Mrs very soon, probably a 07/08 model. a helpful 11 to 12 mins and the trombone brush was a nice touch, wondered how you did that! Cheers Jon
go for it Jon, but have a good look around for the low mileage ones?? ive had two, and I found the last of the mk 3 2ltr sport model with now 18k on the clock, I absolutely love the car, and recommend that you buy one, best wishes, Chas👍😊!!
I own this same model in black with chrome extra goodies- absolutely love it! My Seats are adjustable- perhaps he got one with a broken seat. On a summer or spring sunny day nothing beats it
Maximus Minimus Oh, that's interesting... I was under the impression that the height adjustment wasn't included in 2006, thanks for pointing that out. Great cars :)
LOL. You don't have to pull the sunvisor all the way down, it will stay in place even at 1/4 way down! Amazing that you knew about drain hole cleaning. You must have owned one or knew of someone who did. Great review.
Loved mine, but as you say, underpowered at the lower end. Apart from that a brilliant driving companion Reliable, comfortable for long distances and more fun than my current motor BMW 1 series
I have built a car and know how hard it is to find starage in a small car.for me having done it Mazda have done a fantastic job. You can't get a pint out of a half pint pot. These are drivers cars so enjoy.
You will fit! I'm 6'3" and since they have a tilt wheel, I easily fit! Can't say that about the NB, as it made me feel like a sardine in its can! Significantly more room in the NC. I am a long legged tall man, so if you are a long torso tall man, it could be different for you. I love the NC!
I'm 6'4,I'm glad others have said I'll fit haha. I squeezed into my old Na, some people say the Nc is smaller, even though it's longer and wider. I guess I'll have to take one for a drive :)
l'm about to buy one for my mother. I live in the UK and will drive it back to her in Ireland, the old country. Budget £4750. If anyone knows of a sweet one please let me know. I'm based in London. Thinking of doing a video log of the whole experience. Does anyone of good editing software for a novice. Ah advice appreciated

Watched this video 2 months ago. I ended up buying one. One of the Best decisions I've made

Nice real world review - thanks for creating!
Best review I've seen on this model and very helpful.

Jake Shreeve I know this comment is old but I highly recommend that you save your money and get the NB8B, it's far better to drive and look at imo

Great video with insights I've not seen anywhere else(and I've watched a ton of videos on the NC). Thank you for making it!
I agree, buying an NC and watching a ton of NC video's. this one had great insight I haven't heard before.,
Picking mine up on Saturday cat wait. first car as well!

Great video for a great car, i drive a 2006 2,0 grand touring, 100% fun drive..
I own this same model in black with chrome extra goodies- absolutely love it! My Seats are adjustable- perhaps he got one with a broken seat. On a summer or spring sunny day nothing beats it
its a 2006 first year of the 3rd gen
Maximus Minimus Oh, that's interesting... I was under the impression that the height adjustment wasn't included in 2006, thanks for pointing that out. Great cars :)
RandomReviews i bought mine used so its possible the previous owner installed it after purchase
There is a 160hp version, may be this was the lower one? 160hp looks fair enough.
LOL. You don't have to pull the sunvisor all the way down, it will stay in place even at 1/4 way down!

Great review.
Good tip on the trombone brush!
I'm 6foot1 and 18 stone and fit in this easy!
Spot On, Miata MX 5 review! Fun agile ride. Zoom Zoom!
I bought a Cat D one for £2600, 2007 1.8 NC, 31,000 miles in Galaxy Grey
just needed a new drivers side wing, alloy and some filler/paint on the door.
I've found that my nc is one of the easiest cars to heel toe.... And my feet aren't big at all. Maybe I've just never driven a good heel and toe car?
Loved mine, but as you say, underpowered at the lower end. Apart from that a brilliant driving companion
Reliable, comfortable for long distances and more fun than my current motor BMW 1 series
Great review.. Well done
great review, I'm buying one tomorrow
very good honest video..love it.
Just got a 2012. It makes me feel like I'm speeding but I'm usually not. And cornering is as good as ANY car.
I have built a car and know how hard it is to find starage in a small car.for me having done it Mazda have done a fantastic job. You can't get a pint out of a half pint pot. These are drivers cars so enjoy.
Great review , thanks.
Always wanted to drive one, but at 6'4 I know I won't fit :) Keep the videos coming !
Oh, that really sucks! I have another review that I am finishing off currently :)

I'm 6'4 and I fit perfectly fine in the NC miata.
I'm 6'4,I'm glad others have said I'll fit haha. I squeezed into my old Na, some people say the Nc is smaller, even though it's longer and wider. I guess I'll have to take one for a drive :)
Awesome vid! Thanks
Very professional gas nice work
cool review !
Have a nc , my seats adjustable
I bought one with power retractable hardtop and cant find the drain holes
If you have one with the power retract hard top roof. There are NO Drain Holes & that model doesn't leak.
"Cracking little motor"

There are only two roadsters to buy: MX-5 or Boxster. Anything else and you’re wasting your money.
David T Honda S2000 trumps both
is this the 1.8 or 2.0 ?
TezAllez "A 2 liter..." are literally the first words of the video :D
great
Just brought 1
Brian Davis me too (;
Way too much shifting in the beginning
Take it back. They put the steering wheel on the wrong
side.
Maybe if you're in the land of muscle cars and cattle car rear suspension :D
And they drive on the worong side, too
Right hand drive exempt from North America, sadly
@@derlachendevagabund7942 And you drive on the right ,you must be from over the pond!
Everything is perfect except....
I think you have to return your miata it seems that they put the drivers seat on the wrong side of the car
The seat is technically on the 'right' side of the car :)
xaxa ..what a stupied joke
bradly the ach@@l
Absolutely everything covered. Wonderful review.
My MX5 is almost identical to the one on screen, only nicer... :)

Lack of power? The 2.0 puts 170hp. Finding that sufficient. What's he going to do on those ancient English two lane roads with more hp?
170 is slightly inflated, try 158hp.
My 2Ltr MX5 is quite sufficient on power, and drives superbly, (level pegging with any Lotus)!! 😊👍!!
RandomReviews 158 hp for the automatic 168 hp for the manual I would know I've owned 4 mx5 including 2x NC ,s
Who is this fool thinking he knows what he's on about?
Almost fooled you!
great video, really appreciated
Very professional gas nice work
Thanks for watching Nath, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Excellent review. Thanks.
