i'm pretty sure they said they didn't like the direction it was going in and they thought it felt a bit too different from the original series, so they tried it again with the tv series and found something they liked more. btw this pilot was finished, they just can't release it cuz they technically don't fully own it, alot of the ownership is going to the companies they worked with to make this, who are different people than the ones they made the tv series with
