Ah yes i love my dry crunchy beverages :)
Crunchy beverages 🤣🤣
I thought the same 😂
Oh yes crunchy beverages really hydrate you. I'm surprised not many know this.
I’m laughing at the fact that you just created the term crunchy beverages. Y’all are so funny
7.00 per meal.
If they're charging me this price I'm leaving the dining hall with all my Tupperware full
Listen!!!
Ok, calm down now.
Point, blank, period!
Agreed
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😳😳😳 for the student loans ur gonna pay I would expect them to serve caviar every single day
Yeah, you forgot that its america and everything is charged extra😉
um I go to a somewhat “fancy” college and the food is no where near caviar level lol.
@@risky8811 like in Germany too we pay to even get to buy something
Bang on
bro i go to a US state/public university that charges more for the meal plan and it’s so much worse than this
My university pays me $270 monthly just for being a student, and eating at their dining hall costs $1 for breakfast, $2 for lunch and it’s actually reallyyy good.. seeing the amounts of money mentioned in this scarred me
In what university are you?
Where do you study????
In my country, my university pays every student $660 monthly

They also have a wide selection of drinks!! Stanford truly knows how to impress
eh there are a lot of rich kids at stanford yes (...or debt-laden ones) but there's a large percentage who also get sizable need-based grants. my brother got a free ride there since we were very low income so he was enjoying this food for free. they have guest passes too so i got to chow down real good there. shout out to arrilllaga dining hall...and to the poor sods paying full tuition lol
@@janed4727 yeah im surprised at how people assume that rich people go to Ivy League but majority have need-based aid and the only few that ended up paying full tuition are rich kids. But yeah a lot of private colleges that don't do need-based aid do merit based aid.
And I know someone who had a full-ride scholarship to Harvard mainly due to need-based aid.
Thats such a ripoff. I could eat a whole year with that money, very comfortably too, with fresh fruit and veggies, whatever i wanted.
Yes but we also have to keep in mind that they also pay for the cooks to make their food. Or else they'd just buy their own food too im guessing 🤷
@@pachimari3420 That doesnt change the fact that it is a ripoff.
Where do you live that $2000 could be a year of food?
@@elowyn4life Anywhere. The secret is to not eat out at restaurants every week, not buy starbucks coffee, not buy "designer food" (organic food is bs). Buy raw materials not ready assembled food. Bake your own bread, and baked goods (its not that hard, you can bake 10x more cookies than you can buy for the same price). Shop for meat and fish wisely. Dont buy out of season fresh produce if you can help it. If you learn how to cook, you can prepare food better than a restaurant, the last time i at at a restaurant was like 3 years ago. And coffee: if you cant buy a cup of coffee for 10 cents or less, dont buy it, cause thats what what itll cost you at home.

As a student in Turkish university, I finally realized that our 2 daily meals (launch and dinner) just cost us 50 dollars yearly and not expensive comparing to a great university like Stanford although we have almost same variety of food!

Holy hell I could literally buy a week's worth of groceries with what they pay a day for their meals
How? With this inflation?
@Asmo~ Finland. I live off of macaroni and the cheapest proteins I can find.
@@lmmm1459 it probably depends on where you live but an average family of 4 could live off $500 per month in groceries. I’m assuming each semester is probably 4 months. So they’re paying a markup of 4x what they’d pay if they did their own groceries and cooking.
I live in Canada, and universities here also charge crazy prices for dining. A lot of the food is “fake” too like scrambled egg from a carton …
If each meal is $7 and they eat 3x a day, that’s $21 a day…..where on earth can you buy a week’s worth of groceries for $21?!
Or do you mean what they pay per week you could buy a week’s worth of groceries?
@@Kony-2012 I obviously don't eat well because I don't have more money than that to spare.
I cook at home, I eat one main meal a day, I make large portions, I use the cheapest chicken I can find (because chicken is the cheapest protein in addition to tofu), and I cook a lot with rice, pasta and potatoes.
Fresh produce is nonexistent, and I at most buy a couple of bananas and a pound of cherry tomatoes a week... rounding up to around $4. With the current prices cucumbers are a luxury, for example. Can't afford to pay for those. Potatoes are $1 for 2 pounds, the chicken I normally buy is $2.65. Together just those two will last me 3 or 4 dinners - half a week. So far that's around $8 spent in a week. Another 3-4 dinners would probably cost me another $5. That leaves me $8 to spend on bread, butter, milk, oats etc., that I can eat for breakfast or later in the day as a snack.
If things really turn south, there is a single brand of pasta you can buy 400 grams with just 25 cents, which is a massively good deal. It has crappy nutritional value, obviously, but you won't starve.
And thats how we gained the freshman 15. My uni had soooo many options and stations with chefs 😭 good times 😂
BTW I just saw some of your vlogs even I don't understand the language. Hoping you put English title in your videos plus with an English sub maybe ❤
Freshman 15 comes from alcohol. No one suddenly starts eating a massive surplus when they get to college. The extra calories are from beer and whatever fifth your date got their hands on.

If you were able to get a degree and a job after, that's all that matters really. Those fancy schools are great but not worth having a loan until you are 50 yo IF you are lucky. If it's really your dream you can take a summer course in one of those schools. It's cheaper than a full tuition fee, gives you the harvard/Stanford/etc experience, is very interesting, and you can meet people.
Don't mind me saying this but it's never too late.... You can always do like a summer school there or something
@@youparejo those courses are useful when you getting a job where connections matter, like a lawyer.

Not e everything that sparkles is gold. Some of these prestigious universities are full of crap. They attract more bratty entitled kids who think they are better than the average Jane and Joe.
Make a plan to achieve your aspiration and don't sell your self short. The biggest differences between Ivy league universities and other colleges and universities is their reputation and how they brag about it.. Half of the so called smart students get good jobs due to their connections and not because they are the smartest or the best students.
You can eat away your sorrows at having to pay that expensive tuition.
You mean the parents pay.
and make that shit back and more in 3 years time
@@asd3262 Depends on your degree and job you get after going to school. That's why people have a lot of student loan debt. Majoring in 12th century French poetry will not get them a huge payday job.
@@Mwoods2272 Yeah but it's Stanford.. If you are even slightly money-oriented, some student debt definitely isn't gonna be a huge overhanging concern.
@@Mwoods2272 If someone specifically goes to stanford to pursue a degree in 12th century poetry that would mean they probably have an intense drive to follow their passion and will probably succeed no matter what they do. It's not like majoring in communication at Ohio State or something.
"Rate my hotels breakfast" vibes
After completing my BSc and MSc. I never actually brought a meal from the uni canteens. Once I brought a coffee that was when I was out of my my own coffee and stayed over to study. My coffee flask is 150mls as I carry my lunch, snacks and coffee with me daily as well as going to work, so everything's small I don't want to carry too much. Friends think im stingy tbh I don't care what they think. As a diabetic I have to watch what I eat, plus I get upset stomach eating out. I prefer my own cooking. My mate spends 6-9£ a day in the UK.

Wow cool! I hope to visit Stanford one day.😍
I’m 37 years old. The breakfast in my university hostel was so bad that I skipped it and now I haven’t had breakfast for 20 years. Basically I’ve been intermittent fasting (no food between 10pm-Noon) since I was 17. I still weigh exactly the same as high school.
Every college student eventually learns that meal plans are a rip off. I chose the cheapest one for my first semester and it was over $3,000 for subpar food and options that I didn’t like. I’m graduating soon and I have since learned my lesson

Our food meal options were between 800-2100 at my cheap state university. The 1800-2100 was for the athletes and unlimited. 800 was one meal a day if I remember right. So that’s not really that bad
For someone that actually lives in Palo Alto, CA. I can attest that it is very cheap (relatively speaking). I would dine there if I could. Most my meals are over $20, and I don't even go to fine dining that often, or drink alcohol. Things are expensive in this town.
thats very true...$7 for breakfast is so cheap---a bowl of pho cost almost $25 here in our area

I went to a local university and commuted from home. Yeah I missed the “college experience” of not living on campus but I can’t say I really missed it. I got an excellent education without being in debt to my eyeballs because room and board is ridiculously overpriced.
1 main corse meal in Lithuania is on average 1.6 $ in a dining hall. Full meal about 3$.
I love your channel , it’s very helpful
"Looks like harry potter".. never seen harvard or yale dining halls? 🙃
In India, For one person, with that money you could buy 3 meals a day, for 365 days and occasionally treat yourself as well! And I bet you'd be even left with extra money in the end as well.
Ate there while visiting for a week and apparently went to this same dining hall by the looks of those tables and they had fucking ridiculously tasty food. Best college food I’ve ever had though was at USC for sure.
I did not read the title properly so I thought I'm listening to a Doctor and was expecting her to say food is free at the end. I was ready to comment that many tech workplaces in the Bay area have free food. As a student, $8 is pretty decent in bay area.

I used to go to standford when I was around 12 for medical check ups because I had a rare condition. I have to say, their food variety often surprised me, there were also assistants in some areas that would come around with coffee carts as well.
When I was attending Stanford everyday was so fun lol.

Is this in America?
This is Lakeside R&B Dining Hall at Stanford! It has a really great view of the lake and is based of Asian food.
they also have a panda express and a jamba juice and some good smoke spots
and the most beautiful rodin brass statue garden i treasure
Now do the Harvard University!
Thats around the same price at the dinings halls here at SCAD. If you live on campus depending on which dorm you select your given meal plans either weekly or quarterly. Along with x amount of dining dollars that can be used to spend on snacks in cafe stores etc. Along with some meals that aren't offered with the meal plans. I will be graduating next week though. The food can be hit or miss depends on what's being served that day, but I will miss Carnival dearly.
I go to UNLV and we get different cuisines from the strip donated a couple times a week and it's SOOO GOOOOD
You should definitely try out Golden corral, it is my personal favorite buffet in America (ever since king buffet shut down, rip).it only costs around 14 dollars per person, but after that, everything's free. Obviously to-go boxes still have an extra fee, but other than that, if you not planning a whole family diner night then it's one of the best options. That is if it's near where you live.
I like the desert selection 😍
I went for a few days residency in college in upstate NY. Its like a combination of Mcdonalds, Popeyes, arbys and all fastfood you can think of. 😅
The dining is exactly how I thought Watford dining hall would be like in Carry On by rainbow Rowell
This is actually pretty standard for colleges. I've been to a private and an hbcu. Both had amazing food for about $5 if you don't have a food plan. Both places had better food than this one spot you showed by a landslide.
pleasant appetite Marina
The dining halls aren’t actually that varied - Lakeside (the one in the video) only mainly differs from other dining halls in its specials. But yeah, while we complain a lot about the patterns the dining halls fall into, I think we’re very privileged to have the types of food we have
My college had middle east food cart operating from outside prople, everyone like these guys. Cheaper than dinning in cafeteria
If they don't check bags then my bag would be full of food in ziplock bags. And sell them outside lol 🤣
The community college I attended even has better food. Japanese, Korean, Thai and french to other cuisine. Also we have a 7 eleven that offers steam buns, instant noodles, curry and more.
I love your channel and videos😍😍😍You're amazing!!!Love from Uzbekistan
Ooh roble’s dining hall, ngl i miss this dining hall and it WAS v good food as a student. Arrillaga and ricker too
In sweden Univerity is free to attend.
Food is usually discounted for students, way lower than in America atleast. BUT on the other hand, America do have some of the more insane tuition fees in the world.
In Germany i Pay 300$ for one Semester including a Train ticket. Lunch starts from 2$-5$ 🤣
If I’m paying that much I’m taking to go meals and shit and stocking my room with what I can.
I loved the food at my university, UCLA, I don't remember how much it cost but they had so much variety and some of it was all you can eat.
I went to a private university in California when I was an undergrad, and they had a similar dining hall with similar rates my freshman and sophomore years. Everything was buffet style, and if you didn't want to dine in they'd give you a big to-go box that you could fill up to the BRIM. All you had to do was swipe your student ID card to enter the dining hall, so it was a great deal.
When I was a junior/senior, they built a fancy/shmancy two-floor dining hall with really AWFUL food, charged the same and MORE, and made it so you had to pay for everything with "dining dollars", rather than buffet style. It looked super fancy, but the quality of dining on that campus dropped dramatically.
In my country, $7 is about 105k. It can used to get 4-5 meals with good quality that provided by my college canteen
This dining hall is really average. Come to Duke and check our dining hall. It will blow your mind
This is my motivation to get in stanford
Thanks for vloge on Stanford University. I just love it.

Hmm the dessert selection is definitely better at stanford than harvard, but the food looks shitty in both cases LMAO. Also for those of y’all wondering, most kids without ungodly family income (at least at harvard) dont pay anywhere close to the sticker price be it tuition or room and board. For example I pay minus $750 a year 🥰
Arillaga Dining Hall is objectively the beat
Yup. Reminds me of a dining facility on base such as Ft Sam Houston tx. Looks good though.
the lunch at this uni is one year of uni in my country and i still find it expensive
I study in RWTH Aachen(One of the Top Unis in Germany). Obviously its not on Stanford level but its still very good. 2000$ seems like such a ripoff. We pay 350€ per Semester so every 6 month. And food in the cafeteria is 3€ per meal + Drink. I also get paid to go to University like 400€ every month. So yeah its pretty chill here :)
Might be wrong but im pretty sure this is the same dining hall i used to work at lmao
