Classics Four did a song called "Traces",it is beautiful.I love their productions and those soothing vocals. So soothing. These songs were needed in the 60s amid all the turmoil.
Dennis Yost is the singer for Classics IV. You gotta check out Spooky, lol. It was first, and established the sound of the band. Stormy is similar to Spooky. Atlanta Rhythm Section did a killer version of Spooky. The Classics IV were a very different, cool sounding band to hit the charts in their time.
From the soundtrack of my 13th year -- when we young bucks were paying more attention to girls but none of us was willing to admit it (yet). We were gettin' schooled by songs like this one. I always imagined the Classics IV as being smooth & classy rock (similar to The Association); more aimed at young adults than zany teenyboppers. And of course each single was perfectly timed between 2:30 and 3 minutes to fit Top-40 AM radio. Thanks, Angela!
I was 7 when this came out. My bus driver was an elderly gentleman named Ben & rigged a transistor radio onto his dash. I remember this song getting lots of airplay. Since my parents never played music in our old cars, I had little experience with current Hits, other then what came on his radio.
"Bring back that sunny day" is a metaphor as she's "stormy" and they're having relationship issues as we hear, other weather mentions again are just to give imagery of her and his mood not actual weather related at all.
Ah, a Classic. Stormy has been covered by so many other bands over the years, and I've yet to hear a better version than the original by the Classics IV.
Yesterday's love was like a warm summer breeze But like the weather, you changed Now things are dreary, baby And it's windy and cold And I stand alone in the rain Callin' your name...
A man dealing with the emotional up and downs of being with a woman he loves. This was during a time we men worshipped women. The next generation doesn't seem to feel that way. Somehow that is sad. There was diappiontment, sadness and pain, but thank God magic. Magic in discovering the other. I hope this music comes back. Bring back the magic.
I like this better than Spooky. One or two of these guys went on to form the Atlanta Rhythm Section and re-did Spooky. But Stormy is a better song, I think.
Nice...... an old AM radio classic by the Classics...... yeah, very smoove and you had the appropriate "good sax" mug....... I could watch u dance for hours. Now r u gonna react to "Let Me In" by the Sensations, er what???.... I wanna see if it makes u move. AND Angela...... it even has a good sax solo!! Pretty please!!! does anybody ever say that anymore? Carry on.....
I think you already reviewed Spooky by Atlanta Rhythm Section, which was Originally released by Classics IV! 2 ARS Members were originally with the IV! The IV were Great Band whose hits are All CLASSICS!!
"Spooky", "Everyday With You Girl" and "Traces" are other good ones by this group.
Another top shelf blue-eyed Soul piece by Dennis Yost, rest in peace.

You change moods in us all when you smile and get into the music!
Dennis Yost had some great voice & vocals!! ❤
Has a 60's vibe, but also very smooth and Great sax with cool vocals-Colin Ward
Such a haunting yet romantic melody...I can feel the pain and longing in his amazing vocals...bring back that sunny day...and Oh that Sax!!! 🌞❤🎶
50 K !!!!!!!! It's great to know there are at least 49,999 others who appreciate greatness.............YOU !
Man, so glad you reviewed this group, of course I had their LP.
This song brings me back to my youth
Great voice great live singer great writer

Congrats on 50K!! woohoo!!🎉🎉🎉 Nice dance moves at the end!!
The long version on their album is so much more of this classic beauty.
Always liked this song! Hadn't heard it in awhile. I was in college when this came out. Enjoyed your reaction and Congrats on making it to 50k!!🎉👏🏻

Great song. Have always enjoyed it since it came out!!
Great old tune
The core members of The Atlanta Rythem Section were former members of the Classics IV.

I hear that ❤
Maybe SANTANA
Yes, you've probably heard that melody on their other song, "Spooky." Give that one a listen, along with "Traces."
Another great reaction, DayOne. Keep up the great reactions.
Several of these players went on to form Atlanta Rhythm Section.
Essa musica transcende minha alma ... A alma é como a água . .que quanto mais corrente e limpa ...mais ela tem valor e nobreza 🇧🇷 😍 🇧🇷
Great classic song
Stormy peaked at #5 on the Hot Billboard 100!! ❤⛈️🎶🔥
Wild… I remember this song, but couldn’t put a date to it -surprised to see 1968! Definitely sounds more 70-ish! But I like it!!! 😃⛈️⛈️🌈⛅️🌤️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Callin' your name...
Dennis Yost at his best...a great, great 60s love song...
I saw these guys in a bar in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1975.
used to sing this in High School

cool analysis I agree

I agree with you for sure..
"Traces" is my favorite from them.
You heard the melody in John Legend's tune "Make Room," which is an excellent song, but should have credited the Classics IV for the inspiration.
Good sax. Great bass.
Stormy shares a motif with Spooky. Great song and I also love Atlanta Rhythm Section, which was the eventual home for a few Classics IV members.
but I call you Stormy today..⛈️
My senior year in high school.. 🎵1968😊
Old classic. It sounds so much like the Atlanta Rhythm Section. I think they covered this song, but the sound is so similar to other songs of theirs.
2 members of Classics IV were in the Atlanta Rhythm Section. They covered Spooky, not this one.
Smooth 🔥 Fire 🎶!!!
Dennis Yost was a very good singer. Spooky, Traces and Everyday with you Girl are very good songs.
Ithnk this or sooky was covered by Atlanta Rhythm section with lots of air play 25 years later. and some of the Classic 4 were in this band.
I remember this song. Nice one. The lead singer is Dennis Yost. By the way, Santana did a nice cover of this song on their "Inner Secrets" album.
You probably are probably thinking of "Spooky" which is similar, but in my opinion, is the Classics IV's best hit.
My nephew name is stormy 😊
beautiful song ! "Traces" would be another song you would love . Thank you Angela.!
Next is a must try "Spooky" more of the same greatness!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
They had a lot of good songs.
Ooops I stand corrected Atlantic Rythm Section did Spooky not Stormy
Traces is epic
Can you please review Don't Ask My Neighbor by the Emotions. You give the most honest response to the song being played!
Listen to paper lace, The night chicago died, classic power pop song
Great band. I believe they were out of Jacksonville, Fl.

This group and Astrid Gilberto and Stan Getz doing "Girl From Ipanema" is were Sade go her sound.
Great song although “Traces” is their signature song and my personal favorite.
A pop, cool jazz ballad for cuddling with your sweety on the sofa, after some private dance moves.
It's nice to read that 89 people left comments.
"Stormy" is definitely worth commenting on.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Carlos Santana also does a great version of this tune.
Bela!
Santana so many i played saxophone tenor alto and baritone goodtimes 🎉
Luv this Angela thanks so much also Diana Ross does a great cover as well
4or 5 hits on this one album.
Save room by john legend I'm guessing is what you recognize. It was opposite for me. I heard John legend song and wondered where I knew it from.
There is a song by the Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) that sounds very similar called spooky. check it out.
This song reminds me of John Legends "save room".
sampled by John Legend for "Save Room"
The song has been covered several times, Atlanta RHythm Section and Santana
Santana has done a cover on this.
If you enjoyed this selection, you may also get into a 1966 song "Sunny" by the great Bobby Hebb.
I like the cover version of that song by Santana !
John Legend used this melody.. Think about it.. :)
You should check out the Santana version of this song. It is really good.
Please react to Leonid and friends : wishing you were here thank you.
Cant beat the diana ross and supremes version though.
