Backwards compatibility confirmed for Switch 2? Cross-gen implications

The Switch 2's cartridge has leaked via a patent recently filed by Nintendo. The format of the cartridge is surprisingly familiar. In today's video we'll discuss what we know and the implication of this design. Has backwards compatibility been confirmed with this leak?

I don’t think it’s going to be an entirely new system. It will just be a Next Gen Switch. A Super Nintendo Switch you could say. It will still have Joy Cons, a Handheld and Docked Mode, and an LCD screen. But now it will do 60fps rather then 30fps, 4K when docked and 1080p in handheld, and be more powerful then the Switch OLED and PS4. It 100% makes sense for it to use the same cartridges just like how the Wii U still used disks like the Wii before it. I’m looking forward to this latest upgrade for Nintendo Switch hardware!

I don't have a switch anymore but thank god for everyone who owns plenty of cartridges that they could be backwards compatible.
