Hey Pippi! I can't remember the exact reason why 🙄, but I called Dicor many years back...and the only thing they recommended for cleaning their roof was methyl hydrate. I learned (the hard way) that leaving a rag soaked with a mild solvent (like wax/grease remover) on the roof overnight will create a huge and unexpected bubble the next day. Not sure how it gets through the rubber membrane to react with the underlying glue etc...but methyl h is all I use now when prepping any roofs for repairs... (Journeyman/Master RVIA certified..coming up on almost 30 years now...) Love your channel 👍...Happy travels Pippi!!
For the self leveled lap sealant, cut the tip higher up for more volume and better coverage, the nice thing about self leveling is it does the work for you, as in you don't have to be so precise as u do with culking.
Glazing is an art... just giving you a bad time. Fortunately the hardest part of the job is remembering to bring everything you need the first time up.
That bathroom vent needed to be replaced anyway so bumping it really was not a bad thing. As far as the first vent I have used that bonding tape to fix mine. It might not look pretty but for a quick fix it did the job.
Thank you for making this video. I can breath a little easier knowing if I ever need to patch my RV roof, I'll have a resource to go to. May the wind be at your back Pippi!
Paint those plastics with truck bed liner coating . It gets much darker inside the rig but the plastics will be SO MUCH stronger , hail proof as well .
Hi Pippi nice job on the Rv! I noticed you didn’t clip the clip into the grove on your vent top, if you look close you need to turn the clip until it snaps into the little grooved out area.
Vent cover near the skylight looks as though the top of it is missing. As others have pointed out, roller recommended for the eternabond. Good job on the repairs overall and an A+ for simply getting up there and taking care of it yourself. Much of the work on our rigs can be done by ourselves if we just take the time and put in the effort to do the research. Good video; safe travels!
Hi Pipi, I have the exact same roof type as you do and I use Spray Nine to clean it. It works extremely well and is safe for the roof and the environment. Also, kind of surprised that you did not use a clear cover for the skylight instead of a white opaque one.
I would add more Dicor around the skylight... Also I have seen some have added insulation to block cold air entering into the wood ceiling gap and also adding a layer of clear bubble wrap between the two skylights as a heat/cold barrier... You could still do this by removing the inner skylight and adding the insulation from within...
Great Job, fixing your roof, sky light and vent cover, this was a very interesting video👍 I found this as a suggested video and I enjoyed it very much🙂

Would you believe it looks exactly the same! I’m glad because I really wanted the clear one but they only had white opaque. It’s the same amount of light and I couldn’t ever see out of it in the first place anyway.

Thanks for all the great information, doing a little roof repair myself. Not familiar with these types of roofing materials. This helps, thanks again. Like your channel
First of all. I felt so bad about your roof.i have the same problem. I don't know how my roof got ripped. I was in the ford dealership in May and had the insurance agent up on the roof looking for a possible leak into the dashboard which has caused some wires to rust and modules to malfunction. So in the beginning of May there was no roof problems. Got my RV back in mid May and parked it waiting for a shop to do repairs scheduled in June. When they got the RV, they did a general inspection which included my roof and well yes a big long rip. The insurance has agreed to replace the roof at a cost of 7k. My deductible is small so not the concern. I have with anxiousness to see how you solved your problem as I had to bring my RV home to remove the contents from it put into storage because I live fulltime in the RV, and wait at a friend's house for a return date for the roof replacement and some wiring repairs. Ok to see that you solved your repair with just tape is shocking. I have been waiting for a month to get back in to the shop and am anxiously waiting to get my life back on the road. Ok so sorry for the long story, but here's a few more details. I have a small mouse infestation last fall and got the exterminator involved in September and October last year. But some wires and services in the already not working. I was in the mountains and tried to get repairs completed up there but found that impossible. So returned to my homebase and a friend's to try and get repairs completed here. Problems have multiplied. Half the shops only do living quarters the oth3s only engine. I was having starting issues so no shop for the living quarters would take a nonfunctional RV. Had to wait 4 months to get into the Ford dealership (and I think they ripped my roof) so tried taking my RV to two other shops in town to deal with the motor. Other shops were stumped and it came down to the fact that they all recommended the ford dealership and its computers. Fortunately I was smart enough to stay on the weight list. There's a leak. Not the roof and not anything obvious. The RV is a 2013 with the original windshield. It will be very expensive to take apart dashboard and replace wires. Rv is and does start when it is dry, so no issues this summer. With recommendations from ford that it could be coming from old gasket around windshield, I replaced it and the gaskets. It's a waiting game to see if the leak has been stopped and the engine continues to start. So here's my point for writing all this. I have decided to sell or trade in my RV and downsize. I am worried that even with the wiring repairs that I am waiting on, there will still be problems. Should I take my insurance money for the roof and use tape and not replace it. If course I don't even know if that is an option. I could use the money to make cosmetic repairs instead inside to boost my resale value hopefully, maybe a taped roof will bring my value down. I would also have some money for a down payment on the next RV. Could you advise me on the value on a taped roof repair vs whole roof replacement. How long will the tape repair last. Any other advice on this situation is greatly appreciated. Solo TV woman, maria.
Hail took out my skylight, vent covers, A/C covers, Sat dish cover, some plastic trim, etc... a couple weeks ago. Stronger A/C covers, and skylights are available if you shop around, and they were cheaper. Anyone making these type of repairs should make sure they also double check the color of the lap sealant they buy.. They do have colors besides white, and I almost bought tan from my local dealer by mistake. If you put a bead of lap sealant under the edge of the skylight when you install it, you don't really need the butyl tape, but it doesn't hurt. Eternabond makes a spray cleaner you are supposed to use before applying the EternaBond Tape. It contains ether so it evaporates without leaving a residue. Just don't sniff it. Probably not mandatory, but I used it when covering seams on my slides. If you pull out the inner skylight, you can apply a film to the outside for a stained glass window effect. Just search for "stained glass window film". A smoke colored skylight is going up over my kitchen fan tomorrow. It didn't break, but I want a little more natural light inside. Nice videos, keep up the good work!
Hi like your videos, you have a fabulous lifestyle, do you mind if I mentioned that when you pushed the clip through after replacing the vented dome (split one) the close up showed that the retaining part should be over the metal part where it’s hook shaped rather than above, which looked loose ish. however I’m n expert in this 🤔

Notifications on the last few videos hasn't been working. I even clicked bell off and waited a day and clicked the bell again. Any suggestions. I enjoy watching the Pipi show. lol
The biggest problem with silicon is, with us exposer, it looses it’s tooth (tac) and no longer seals. Especially on it’s edges. I have made the mistake of thinking it was best a few times. Great job on the roof.
John Dough I have always said anyone that corrects spelling or syntax on utube has the mentality of an old maid English teacher. If you felt a need to correct something you should have caught where I typed “us” when I meant “uv”.
@@johng4250 That's not just spelling or syntax and I didn't correct several of those very obvious ones in your post. But I will now: Besides the uv/us, there's also exposer, which should be exposure, and looses, which should be loses. Silicon (sand or mineral) is a whole different substance than silicone (rubbery sealant or liquid-ish lubricant/grease) not just a different spelling. The mentality is trying not to visualize some bozo trying to seal up a joint with a handful of sand.
John Dough well you got me, you are definitely the reincarnation of my 5th grade old maid English teacher. If we non spellers want to write a novel, we get a minimum wage proofreader to do your job, funny how the world works.
I think I would have put a daub of lap sealant on/in the screw holes before I screwed the plastic dome down. The screw holes sew where you have the greatest possibility of leaks into the interior structure of the roof imho.
I hope you sent a bill to those space aliens. Should there be court action, feel free to call on me as an expert witness. I will have the jury bouncing between awe and tears!!!

Notifications on the last few videos hasn't been working. I even clicked bell off and waited a day and clicked the bell again. Any suggestions. I enjoy watching the Pipi show. lol
Well done Pippi....... :)
Good Job Pippi! Girls can do it too!!! 😁👍👷♀️💪🏼
Looks great!
The biggest problem with silicon is, with us exposer, it looses it’s tooth (tac) and no longer seals. Especially on it’s edges. I have made the mistake of thinking it was best a few times. Great job on the roof.
silicone
John Dough I have always said anyone that corrects spelling or syntax on utube has the mentality of an old maid English teacher. If you felt a need to correct something you should have caught where I typed “us” when I meant “uv”.
@@johng4250 That's not just spelling or syntax and I didn't correct several of those very obvious ones in your post. But I will now:
Besides the uv/us, there's also exposer, which should be exposure, and looses, which should be loses.
Well done!!
Wow girl power good job Pippi!!
Great job!!! I know you feel much more secure now. PS.......Watch out for tree limbs!!
You said it!
I think I would have put a daub of lap sealant on/in the screw holes before I screwed the plastic dome down. The screw holes sew where you have the greatest possibility of leaks into the interior structure of the roof imho.
Your and amazing woman, Best wishes and best of luck to you and travel safe. we love you.
Really enjoy your vids. What weather apps do you use?
Be safe!
What about the vent cover next to the bathroom skylight?
It wasn’t damaged
I hope you sent a bill to those space aliens. Should there be court action, feel free to call on me as an expert witness. I will have the jury bouncing between awe and tears!!!
really think it was the cammo dudes who blasted the top of the rig with their Pusled Detonation Wave gun and missed
Thanks Jack!

Good job Girl
That roof sealing tape seemed more difficult to extract from the package, then to apply to the roof. 😉
What a woman! I love you.
What about the ladder? Looked like it was bent and brackets pulled in the prior video:-)
It was bent a little bit but nothing was damaged aside from a slightly new pitch 😉
Why you don't have solar on the roof?
Another great video
What about your vent caps that were broken?
Great Job, Thanks:):)
