I lived in Israel for about one year. No cultural shock at all, I am not Jewish yet I felt like being at home (Israel is an egalitarian and inclusive place) and to this day I keep considering the country as a part of me and my life. I am writing from Italy, so maybe the one thing that I found strange at first was the "rak rega!" (="just wait a second") hand gesture. The same gesture has a completely different meaning in italy, and here it is *very* rude, so don't do that if you are - say - in Rome or Milan or... anywhere in fact.
1. Absolutely true. Just be chill, and don't get nasty with the security people, they are just there to keep us ALL safe. 2. True, a simple Shalom (hello/goodbye) and Toda (thanks) goes a long way. 3.Yes, 100% true. If you want to spend your entire trip in the airport security, or worse, pay attention. We LOVE meeting foreigners, and hearing your stories. And we are some of the most friendly people, truly.
I sure would love to visit Norway at some point…I’m from the US and would be an “American Tourist,” if I ever dropped by…Whenever I think of Norway, one of the first things I think of is Lillehammer and wondering what it’s like there…Although I have no immediate plans to travel overseas (such as to Europe), Norway is certainly on my “Bucket List” (Lillehammer, in particular)…If I ever did visit Norway, I would definitely make it a point to see Lillehammer at some point…Please, consider doing a Video-or a Vlog-of Lillehammer, Norway, sometime during the Summer Season…Of all the locations for the Winter Olympic Games, Lillehammer, Norway was the most memorable one for me (that particular Norwegian town being the site of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games)…It might be interesting and random (and also enjoyable) if you could consider doing a Video-or Vlog-there…What’s life in Lillehammer like, what types of things could tourists do there, and were exactly within Norway is Lillehammer located, anyways? Is it Central, Northern, Northeastern, Northwestern? I’ve always assumed Lillehammer, Norway to be a somewhat small town…But maybe it might be a small city? And what’s the climate like in Lillehammer and how does their weather compare to that of the rest of Norway’s? Does Lillehammer receive a Midnight Sun and/or Polar Winter or is the town too far south for that? I’d definitely love for you to post a Video of Lillehammer, Norway, set sometime during the Summer months…Perhaps, you might meet some very interesting people, throughout that Video (or Vlog)…I’ve heard Lillehammer is a very beautiful area…Maybe, consider dropping by the old Olympic Park and Village areas of Lillehammer, should you do decide to do a Video or Vlog there… . I’m not familiar with what the Norwegian Accent sounds like, so I just assumed your Accent must be 100% Norwegian…It’s interesting that, as you say, your Accent is a blend of a few different Languages (Russian, Italian, Norwegian)…I guess I regard myself as speaking English with an “American Accent” and all the US pronunciations and spellings…I basically sound like I’m from the US (and I don’t speak any other Languages)…Yes, I agree with you that every country has its own Cultures, Social Rules, Food, etc. and immigrating to different countries can be very difficult…I’m not the immigrating type (I’m leading a very happy life here in the US and don’t wish to leave here to live in another Country), but being a tourist is alright with me…I’m sure anywhere we go, whatever the country, most places like to know they’re attracting tourists and people from other countries who decide to spend some of their money to Vacation in their country…I remember how you mentioned in one of your Videos that Norwegians dislike judgmental people and don’t tolerate judgmental behavior in their country, and minding one’s own business is preferred…Yes, whatever country one is living in, dealing with nosy people is always so annoying…I’ve had people ask me lots of nosy, judgmental questions before and it always gets on my nerves…It’s just annoying…I agree with you…Sadly, I’m not the outdoorsy type…
Aww what a great comment! Thank you very much Mark! You should definitely visit Norway one day! It is a great country indeed. And we have lots of American TV programs there 😁 that’s why mainly all Norwegians speak English. And some of them with an American accent 😉 Well.. my English is a tool, not a language really. My goal is to be understood by all people around the world. No matter where they study the language and what level in English they have 🙂 Love your country by the way! Managed to visit California last summer. Can’t wait to discover more of the US
I spent 2 months traveling Norway pretty much from Lillehammer to Lofoton Islands to Nordkapp to Kirkenes and all places in-between. It is not cheap, ok, it's expensive, but worth every penny. The beauty of lands are absolutely stunning and if the Northern Lights appear, it could bring a tear to your eyes if fortunate enough to see.
Mark, you can perfectly fine be just a tourist. The US is the world's greatest country. When you live a decent life in the US, why would you move out? I might have done the same as you. I have never been to the US thought but I can tell the US is the best. Cheers from Norway!
I love Israel. I used to go there in the 90s. Well, it is pretty much like any country on the European Riviera. Probaly Northern Africa, too. It's warm, Tel Aviv Beach or Eilat, exotic food, friendly people, good vibe. I always enjoyed my stay in Israel. I want to go back to Israel. Tel Aviv or Eilat. Shalom!

So Laila name means night.
Cool. I didn't know it.

Nice video, but I have a question. Will I have a problem if I bring a swiss army knife to Israel? [even a small one?]
I'm there in 2 weeks.
Just for clarification can I wear a cross?
Yes you can
