Great vid as always 👌 I remember how excited I was when they first announced this cab. Nearly every game on that cab are my favorite Atari titles - all but Akka Arrh - which I dig, it's pretty cool - but I never played it back in the day, so it's new to me. Tempest itself is easily one of my top 10 Atari titles, alongside Crystal Castles, Centipede, Millipede, Major Havok, Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe and Space Duel. The remaining 3 would be Star Wars (of course!) Warlords (which I'm ecstatic to own on the Pong pub table) and Black Widow - an absolutely AWESOME Atari game Arcade1up still needs to make, pronto!!!

Hello, and thank you for the review on the Arcade 1up Tempest cabinet. I actually bought one, and I'm starting to worry after hearing about a common issue with bad encoders that can cause button and trackball failures. My question is, do you still have this cabinet after your review two years ago? If you do, have you encountered any problems with buttons failing or any other issues with the cabinet? Thank you.

The Tempest legacy cab is easily one of the best looking cabs released from last year's legacy lineup. The marquee looks washed out when viewed from afar though I wish that they kept the quality of the marquee much like the Msh cab and other light up marquees from a few years ago. I'll pass on the Tempest cab and wait for the Centipede legacy cabinet as it is one of my favorite Atari arcade games from back in the 80s! Indeed, the Tempest cab is a work of art to have in one's library and happy that it's a permanent mainstay in your 3rd floor arcade.

Unfortunately I'm on my 3rd broken controller deck. Waiting on my 4th replacement. Arcade 1 up has admitted that the encoder board can go out after a couple of months. But hey makes a great showpiece. Let me know if yours goes oout.
Hey Alex, that sucks about the control deck. I wasn’t aware of the issues with that on this Atari cab. I’m hoping it lasts. I’ll keep you posted if anything happens with it!

I bought this cab when it came out and love this cab. They nailed that classic Tempest cabinet design. Games play well too. It’s a keeper. Good video.

When I had this cabinet I swapped out the trackball for the GRS ball. It looked a lot sharper and played awesome 👍

Thanks for checking the video out! I sold the cabinet about six months ago. I never had any issues with it when I had it though.

Surprisingly my Atari Legacy marquee looks great. I assumed it would look washed out like most of the newer cabs marquees, but guess I got lucky.

Yeah I’m not sure why A1UP chose to make it that ivory color. It would’ve definitely looked nicer if it was bright white.
I'm wondering if they did it, to give it the smoking yellowing effect they had back in the 80s.
