As someone who redoes furniture for several years, liquid sandpaper does strip the stain off the wood. It just removes the shine so paint can stick it to it. You’d have to unfortunately sand the whole chair if you want it a lighter color 🫶🏻
Love a good thrifting video! The blue vase with the wick at Salvation Army is a kerosene lamp that is just missing the glass shade. Perfect to use in emergencies when your power goes out!
My husband wanted to go to Goodwill to get some thrifted jeans for work... they had old navy, pacsun, and even Walmart brand jeans, all for $40+. Not a single pair for under $40. So we went to Walmart instead and got him a few new pairs for $20 each. Goodwill is going crazy
I would love to live near you to do DIY with you. I would love to watch your DIY projects. Miss the kiddos because they are adorable. They will go through stages of loving each other and they will not want to be around each other. They are close in age. Love you all. I am going to go to goodwill and see what I can find.
That blue thing is a ceramic pottery hurricane oil lamp. A tall, cylindrical, curved glass chimney/shade would sit on top of the brass base covering the wick. It would look like a vase. The bottom potion holds the oil. The name is a reference to the glass shade's ability to protect candle flames from sudden drafts. They were invented in 1780. They are quite ornate, vintage pieces as the styles have evolved over the years.
Hi Megan. The Velveteen Rabbit is my favorite children's book of all time, but it is very text heavy. When my daughter was little I had an video version that was read by Meryl Streep. I love thrifting. Thanks for taking us along.
We have a shop called Savers in Australia and its very similar to the big ones u go to, even the price tags look the same. The Salvos is another good one here. Definitely pays to look at prices, some things arnt really arnt different to the new price of it.
I am a Seattle mom too, and an avid thrifter! Goodwills around here are totally nuts. I stan Value Village, Habitat for Humanity and the kids’ consignment stores. We have so many good ones! Also, I’m glad I’m not the only one who shops the “rejects rack” 🤣
I own one of those rocking chairs and my partner wanted to get rid of it cause we don't have a spot for it but I refuse lol 😂 we decided to put it on our porch.
I know it's totally selection bias, but your thrift stores seem so much nicer than mine.... You need to show the behind the scenes fails so we can be a little less envious of all of your finds 😅
Dude my husbands mom gave us a rocking chair JUST LIKE THAT. And when we moved I left it behind because it had no sentimental value. I kick myself every day
I just found you on instagram! I love your locket, where did you find it? I like that you give tips for thrifting. I feel like whenever I go thrifting its mostly just JUNK and I feel like I wasted my time. Do you tend to try to go on week days when maybe less people have been there?

The lamps do have a strong kerosene smell.

That's crazy! I haven't seen prices like that at goodwill. The "designer" jeans are usually 9.99 and the rest are 6.99!
That is an oil (hurricane) lamp. It needs a glass top. We use them when the power goes out. You would like it for your soft lighting.

12:47 - it's an oil burning lamp, missing the glass!
Love the boat pic!
Love a good thrift with me video! ❤
I loveeeee thrifting videos!❤
Love the adorable cottage-y finds!!! I would've picked up that heart shaped dutch oven in a "heart”beat if it weren't for that $20 price tag too!! 😳😅

I live in Seattle and we thrift at the same stores 😂😂😂 I haven’t tried that Salvation Army though, going to try it out soon!! Loved this video 🤍🤍
Oh my gosh Megan I feel so jealous; charity shops in the UK are really nothing like this 😭
