I've never heard of washers asking to turn power off. It's a good idea, but I don't know how realalistic it would be where I'm at. A lot of customers wouldn't even know how to do it. What kind of feedback do you get when you ask them to cut power outside? We do a pretty good job of taping, bagging, and spraying around the electrical.
I've definitely learned the hard way about access to working water. As far as people out of town, I get 2-3 scammers per week saying (Text) that they are out of town but would like service, I typically request a 50% CC deposit and it quickly ends the conversation. On that note, I am seriously considering making some form of deposit mandatory with T&C stating unpaid invoices older than 24 hours will automatically be charged. I live in an area where a lot of people have vacation rentals/properties and sometimes trying to get a check mailed is a battle. Sorry for the rant 😁
We also get the scammers who are out of town. Red flags are grammatical errors and the house is on the market. I usually ask for first and last name of person who's on the title and I will be calling to verify. That usually ends the conversation. I personally know of a washer who drove to clean a property and noticed the for sale sign, that's when the story began to unravel for him. Thankfully he didn't perform the work, just wasted time packing and driving.
That seems to be going on all the time I also had someone tell me they pay me but I told them to give their name and looked them up they didn’t exist - we livin in a corrupt society
Good reminder. I try to remember to ask those questions. I ask if there is any stained wood on the exterior where i will be washing. White splatter marks just don't look good on dark stained wood.
I get it, asking to shut off power is a good idea. Realistically; people are not going to cut off their power in the heat of summer, even explaining a potential fire hazard. How did you verify that the job was legit, with the customer being out of state.

tax accessors office and indidnt say cut all power off. Just off at the switch inside
What do you mean turning off. The Electric. Outside.
make sure the outside lights, fans etc are turned off at the switch.
Do you ever have anyone refuse to pay?
not yet
Great information.
Do you mean turn the lights off or from the breaker box?
nah just the switch if possible
I appreciate that
