My son has had long hair now for a number of years, He has decided that he wants to go short with it, so that's what we're doing today! I hope you enjoy it. :)

Awesome donation for a child with cancer or hair loss for an immune issue etc... Red hair is so rare, and there would be some child who, any shade of red, would match their skin tone better than any other color, but they probably don't have as many donated red, or golden red hair to make wigs out of. Awesome that he did that.
Hopefully that’s not one where they sell the wigs to kids for a discount or anything like that…I used to grow out & donate for YEARS BC I have really strong, thiccck, healthy hair…Only to find out the organization I donated to SOLD the wigs at a discounted price to cancer patients & sick kids….

thanks for being the kind of mom who lets their kids grow their hair how they want! I remember my dad making comments about how it made my brother and me look back in the early 2000's. Still sits with with me! Way to let your kids be themselves!

This video took me back 7 years. I have a son, my only child, he loved his hair long when he was in elementary school and part of junior high, until one day I picked him up from his grandmothers house and she had cut his hair. I was a little bit sad, he said he was ok with that. Now he is almost 20yo and is letting his hair grow, his hair is so beautiful. Your son is such a handsome young man. I loved this video.

This video was lovely and made me a bit emotional. My whole life, my grandma had her signature hair color- a similar red to your son’s hair. At first it was natural, then she started dying it as she aged, and eventually when she was battling cancer and lost her hair, swapped to a wonderful human hair wig provided by one of the donation organization (can’t remember the name, it’s been a long time now). The wig was so good and she was such a private person, we didn’t even know it was a wig for quite some time. So thanks to someone’s donation, she was able to keep her signature hair and that meant the world to her. Long story short, your son is awesome for doing this!!! Thanks for sharing, Mary ❤

My own little guy (3) has never had his hair cut, but a few months ago we were watching a wigs for kids video on RUclips and he got all excited when they showed the little girl who received the wig. He said he wanted to give her his hair & I think that’s the direction we’re going now. If he changes his mind, that’ll be totally ok by me…but for now, it’s nice to remind him “you have to keep your hair nice or it won’t make a very nice wig for anyone. Nobody wants to wear a big ole rat’s nest” it always gets him to sit still for detangling sessions.

It's interesting that you said blue eyes and red hair is an unusual combination; living in Ireland it's very rare to see a redhead without blue eyes! You occasionally get green, but brown with red hair isn't super common here
When I see redheads in the U.S., they usually have green eyes. But idk what color of eyes the majority of redheads actually have.
How interesting! Most redheads in the state I’ve noticed have brown eyes, at least most women I know.
statistically, red hair plus blue eyes is the least common combination of traits with only .17% of people. people that have the red hair gene will most commonly have brown eyes, followed by green, then blue. so while green eyes are the least common, they are more common in redheads making blue eyes plus red hair the rarest combination

ive heard its actually one of the rarest combinations but since its ireland the combo is obviously more likely since more people have red hair

YESSS WIGS FOR KIDS!!! and you're right! Locks of Love charges the kids for wigs...and wigs for kids does not!!!! which is GREAT seeing as there is a REASON THE KIDS NEED THE WIGS...we don't need to charge them on top of that!

I don't know what possessed me to start this video while on my way to the gym. Mary's whispering in my earbuds while I drove and then watching her brush her boy's hair (after I parked) is giving me ALL the tingles and making me super sleepy! The videos almost done and I'm still sitting in my car out front of the gym. I can't tear myself away! My oldest is three years old and he got his first haircut this summer. He had the sweetest baby curls that I just couldn’t part with until now. He looked so much older as soon as we got it cut.

I would be interested to know how he’s styled it in the past! The schools where I grew up had fairly strict dress codes, and boys were not allowed to grow their hair past their shoulders. Thanks for another relaxing video!

Loved the video, especially watching the haircut too, I have afro textured hair and maintain it myself and seeing the stylist manipulate his hair and just parting it with a finger was so cool to me, parting my hair with a finger rarely happens unless I decide to have it flat ironed which I've never done super cool, thanks for the video

My son has long hair as well, he never lets me braid it or put it up in a bun lol. Also my mom was one of those people who said "youre the parent, you tell him hes getting his hair cut he has no choice" i said ummmmm no? Its his hair, i cant force him to cut his hair like you did to me as a child and I hated my life. Sheesh. Anyways his cut looks great!
Had my hair cut back before chemo a couple of years ago and the silver lining was being able to donate it to a charity that makes children's wigs...it took the sting out of losing my hair.

This is SO awesome!!! I love that you let your kids be who they want. It's really inspiring and heartwarming. Hair is hair and I love that he's had this project he's been working on with it for a while and that he's able to emotionally not connect to it that hard. I always say it's hair so it grows back, and who knows, maybe he'll eventually do it again in his life!

He should be really proud of donating, thatsamazing!! The new hair cut came out good too! If he finds the sides are too long he can ask a barber for a low taper fade, I find a number 3 for me is a good length to start with, not too long and not too short to the scalp.
