Thanks a lot! It was intended to be mistaken for a high budget movie score. Every aspect from the writing to the final mastering was done with great care. The whole track was produced in Samplitude 11 Pro with instrument libraries from Eastwest and other developers.
Yep, pretty much! Fieldofrields is Kristin Naigus by the way. She performs Oboe, English horn, Tin & Low Whistle. Glad to see everyone coming together here. :)
As a long time fan of Denny's work, I can definitely say this is a major highlight of his work. It's always fun to look back and rewatch heartwarming orchestral masterpieces. Likewise it's always fun to see what others have to say about his work. Such true talent.
Man, I am fanboying all over this piece. Absolutely fantastic work. As others have stated, you have a sense for melody and flow that rivals Powell, but paired with an impressive amount of subtlety and restraint. Super, super impressed; I'm definitely going to have to give this one several more listens.
Great as usual! I'm 22 and been doing the same self-teaching for 2 years. You're an inspiration, truly :) Just wondering, you use LASS for the strings and Cinebrass for brass?
If this is supposed to be mistaken for a high budget movie score it sure as hell went well above and beyond that. It creates that kind of joy of listening to say Narnia or Lord of the Rings soundtrack for the first time, but even better without an existing story to limit your imagination. The execution of motifs is nothing short of perfection and is the best film score level melody that I've heard in recent years. It's such an honor to behold this masterpiece albeit a few years too late.
WUNDERBAR! Einfach nur wunderbar GOTTVERDAMMT! " par with great composers" you say ? Sie sind schon weit über diese Leute! Ich höre sehr viel Musik dieser Art und sie verdienen gewiss mehr aufmerksamkeit!
Denny, you've already it your goal. This is easily on par with anything James Horner or Hans Zimmer could come up with. You have ambition, you have talent, and you have us as a fanbase. For the love of gods, don't ever give up!
Amazing, my inspiration to compose music like this, hopefully. One of my most favorite composers along with Hans Zimmer, John Powell and John Williams.
This is probably my favorite out of all the pieces that you have done! I found it when you recently released The First Five Years album, and I'm glad I did. The way the themes come back at times throughout the piece, and how it flows with the music and emotion, is really incredible! I especially love the way you write for woodwinds here, but the strings, piano, brass, percussion are all excellent! I also am very impressed by the way you used modulations as well as orchestration to alter the mood and emotion of every section. Well done!
This is some awesome piece of music. I really love the last transition at 19:16 it gives me the chills. You sir, are really talented. Hope to see more of your work. Also. Your style reminds me a little of Jon Powell, but more smooth and subtle, with your choices and placement of crescendos and the involving instruments. Kinda... where Jon Powell is like: BOOM EPIC EXPLOSION! You are more like a slowly swelling chain of smaller explosions. :D I'm not a musician, just a passionate listener, so I suppose this might be bullshit. ;)
This is an epically awesome piece of music. So many different rhythms and tunes, but all blending together wonderfully. Best of all, it's 21 minutes of musical bliss. You, sir, have a rare and great talent for this.
Thank you so much for composing this. I know this was quite a few years ago, but I love this arrangement. I hope you never stop composing because this is incredible!
What would a school teach you that you don't already know? Besides, a showcase like this is worth way more than a diploma, you don't need to prove that you have learnt when you can prove what you can do. I often listen to Sea of Crystal, it would fit perfectly in Conan's soundtrack, except it has a sound perfection that didn't exist back then.
i have followed you for years since the first moment i heard your pieces on newgrounds before you ever really started to become a cult classic. you have not disappointed. this only affirms my belief that you will become something great. hurry up and get your CD's done! :D i am so gonna buy a bunch and give them out as christmas presents.
I really hope you end up famous. Tremendous talent. I used to jump on Newgrounds every now and then to check out new stuff and eventually stumbled upon 'Entering the Stronghold'. I'd always check back on Newgrounds to see if you had a new track out. Your music has only gotten better since then. Really wanna see one of your tracks (at least) make it into something well-known someday soon and really take off! Best of luck!
Can't wait to hear more of your work... This piece has enchanted me from the beginning to the end. If I ever needed to hire someone, your name definetely will pop up first. Really, keep doing this, I haven't heard much instrumental that is spot on my taste... This is, from the beginning till the end
Denny you said:" I've never had any musical training before and completely learned by experience. " Could you describe how did you start out, I'm very interested :)
The internet. :) I'm far from as good as Denny, but I learned by myself, sitting at home by my computer. Many others have done the same, even some of the very famous composers. PM me if you want some more help in starting.
@@JohnBobergMusic can you help me ? I know some piano but i find composition extremely hard and chaotic. I cant even start. Could you help me in telling me the right tools like the libraries to use and the basic structure of a composition to begin with.... i know the comment is a little too old and its been 5 years
@@delq It's unfortunately very hard to answer in a RUclips content. But your best option is to google everything! For example, google "Beginners guide to composing" and you'll have plenty to read through. It takes time though. :) I also have plans to make a simple video tutorial of the very basics of composing and how to get started in the near future (hopefully can get this done). So feel free to subscribe if you'd like that!
@@JohnBobergMusic oh i appreciate you for replying .... the thing is that i did try to learn some basic orchestration and have found many videos extremely interesting and i see the music working when they do it but i cant develop those impulses of thought myself, i guess i what have to learn a little bit more on basic scales and progressions so that i can properly structure some of my ideas. And yeah i am looking forward to your tutorial. Thank you
@@delq I understand. Basic music theory is absolutely very helpful, though I also think it's important to not overthink things in the start - if you get a melody in your head that you like, go ahead with it and try to create something with it! This is AMAZING! 100% beautiful and captivating! I started this song, and in the flash of an eye 20 minutes had passed... I was in another world, swept away into a waking dream. All the work shows, this is truly a masterpiece! THANK YOU SPOTIFY!

There has to be someone, or several people, that you can submit this to. Heck, apply to Berklee just so they can hear it. Money is the worst roadblock to face, but you never know, something might happen. You deserve to have your work heard and enjoyed! Also I looove the flute solo at 4:30.
I would KILL to play music like this in my high school band, but instead we're stuck with boring music. Nothing as epic as a spectacular piece like this. Would there be a way to potentially have this arranged as band music as well, or get sheets? It's such a great piece :)
I know I've told you this before, but I just can't emphasize enough how beautiful this piece is! :) It was a pleasure to do the clarinet parts for you! :D
this rivals hanz zimmers work and that f two steps from hell, this is absolutely amazing, please do succeed it would be a damn shame for this hard work and talent to go to waste. i do sense famial tunes as well, and it is amazing. shoot for the stars Denny!
@Danman87 How the hell do you get 17:40 to 18:04 to sound so spectacular. Is the compositional trick as I would love to be able to compose something as good as your spectacular music!
