hi andy the canal scene looks great and the bridge looks fabulous do like the way you have done the greenery very nice indeed really does add to the overall effect real nice job well stay safe all the best al 👍👍👍😄🌈
Hi Al, thank you for your kind words, much appreciated. It was a challenge designing & scratch building the road bridge but i am happy with how it's turned out, finishes off the back scene nicely. All the best to you too Sir & hope you are well, Rgds, Andy
Hi Dennis, many thanks for watching. Unfortunately the layout is currently being dismantled (see my "Last Running Session" video), I will be building a new one in the Autumn though. I'm glad you got some ideas from this build to use on your own layout, all the best.........Andy
@@44662dc Now, you are not wrong there my friend, Sharlston Fisheries are really the best for miles :) You must be a local and a Yorkshireman to appreciate such a wonderful establishment. Keep in touch Denis & thanks for your comment......Andy
Hi Andy, the canal looks great with the varnish, great scenery and modelling. bushes and trees are really effective, think I will have ago, as not happy with my greenery. all the best. Glynn
Hi Glynn, thanks for your comment. With the greenery, try different shades. I found the best results are achieved when building up different coloured scatter, weeds & grasses. I think my canal water has been a success, just hoping it stays like that for a few years :) Cheers, Andy
Hello Andy, really enjoyed that👍 The canal looks fantastic. I’m not sure where to add one to my own layout, but I certainly won’t be going down the expensive Woodland scenic route again! I had some great results on my N layout with realistic water, but looking back it was so expensive to create & now I’m working inOO‼️ The trees are great I’ve still not watched how to make the seafoam trees yet as there’s too many other things going on at Colwich. Thanks for sharing some great tips & techniques, I think I’m going to start saving for a 3D printer😆 Cheers John B
Hi John, yeah, I did notice the price of the WS & other brands of resin pour water are quite steep. I prefer to have a go myself and recreate it as I remember from years ago :) Luke Towan @ Bolder Creek is the the guy you need to check out for tree making, the guy is top draw when it comes to modelling. I might even film it myself when I make the next batch of trees :) My 3d printer is a great piece of kit, yes, it cost a few quid but by making accessories myself I'm going to save in the long run, I'm even selling some of them to get some funds back in. Thanks for your comments mate, chat soon, Andy

The two bridges and the road are very well realised. Nice river (canal) too. 😀👍
Hi Michael, thanks for dropping in. Yeah, I'm very pleased with the varnish finish. Back in the 70's this was the way my dad made my first layout river & it's the way I was shown how to do it. I didn't want to cheat with the resin stuff so I used the old method. Thanks for your comment, Rgds, Andy
Thank you for your kind words & for dropping by. New videos are in planning, i aim for one a month but of course I've got a bit more time on my hands at the moment :). BTW, your comment landed in my spam inbox, don't panic, this happened to me a lot when I set up my channel, Cheers, Andy.
Thanks I really enjoyed the video, I'll be looking to add a canal to my hopefully soon layout, I've been wondering how to achieve a water effect, I think the slight accent and Wallace Arnold coach gives away which canal you had in mind ! :) You'll be adding an urban abbey next :)
Hi there, thank you for your kind comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. This was a budget way to reproduce a water effect, it's important to get the base colour right and then lots of coats of varnish over a number of days. Thanks for watching.................Andy
Very nice layout my friend with a great collection of stock, the canal scene looks great, have subbed to my channel and look forward to catching up with more later. All the best, Paul
Hi Thomas and thanks for watching. I got on well with the water based varnish and I think it worked out well. The key was thin coats and to let the varnish fully dry before recoating. Cheers .......Andy
That canal came out really good! I like the way you model the greenery too. Very nice job👍🏻Andy, I'm having a nightmare with mine mate, I can't get the static grass to leave the applicator😖😖😖😖 tried breaking up the clumps, new battery, and feel like giving up. Its a decent applicator its the wws 40 quid job lol. I like the way you did the bushes I think they came out really good and it seems like a cheap alternative that actually works. Nice video and great tutorial. All the best, Lee
Hey Lee, thanks for your comment buddy. Garry at Cheekytek did a fantastic vid on the bushes & brambles & I liked the look of them, really easy to make. Just bought a new SGA myself (WWS as well), works great, a lot better than my cheapo tea strainer version - can't think how yours won't work though? Thank you for watching & your kind words, much appreciated, Cheers, Andy
Andy, let me know how you get on with the sga, especially because its a wws. Normally sga have a live strainer, but wws has a live plate at the base of the cup instead. Anyway mate, let me know how you get on with it. All the best mate, Lee
Hi John, many thanks for your comment. The website is texturelib.com/ - free texture pics to download. There are some great resources in there for scratch building, you just need to scale it to your size before printing. It's called "uneven grey stone", Cheers, Andy
Hi Andy that canal scene looks great - What was the varnish you used as I am looking to put a pond in and was wondering what to use for water. This looks like a good method--------Cheers Kev
Hi Kev, thanks for your comment. The varnish is Wilko's own, ultra tough, clear gloss, quick dry (water based) £3.50 for 250ml, good stuff, you just need to put on thin layers and let it dry before re-coat for the best results. (I did 8 coats over a week). Thanks again Kev, all the best, Andy
That pub looks very welcoming... I hope they do pots of tea... 👍
They certainly do Peter - but only Yorkshire Tea :) Thanks for watching & subscribing, all the best......Andy

Nice reflection in the canal as the train passes over the bridge.
Thanks for your comment Melchie, I got the reflections right - that's the effect I was aiming for, cheers, Andy
