I'm a trucker. I used to drive with my dog. Every trip for years. Well, making a run from Texas to Colorado, she died. She was old. This song happened to be playing while I pulled over after realizing it. I buried her out there after the pass. She loved the road, & I loved her.
Beautiful Story. It seemed with the old style AM/FM radios, certain songs would come on at pertinent times in our lives. Don't know if it's still the same with streaming?
Someone please tell me how this beautiful music makes this 75 year old retired sailor Cry? I have always loved this sound, and the harmonica somehow tears at your heart.
It captures the spirit of your great time. I hear it and its happy in its sadness. Like something beautiful im too young to know about is being honored. My opinion
I was eighteen, and in the Navy in 1969. That's when I saw this movie. I have great memories of being a young man, away from home for the first time. I was on board the USS Tripoli LPH-10. Headed for Vietnam, the Philippines, and Okinawa. And many places on the other side of the world.
I will never forget listening to this the first time while Dustin's head leaned on the bus window in the movie...all the time knowing Jon Voight didn't know Dustin was gone.
Joe Buck was talking abut future plans to Ratzo and then realized he was deceased. There are minutes more of the movie involving the bus driver, and then the look of emptiness and shock on Joe's face is heartbreaking. Jon Voight won the New York Film Critics Best Actor award, and his performance is extraordinary. John Barry's music for the film is exceptional. Midnight Cowboy is a time-capsule of 1969 and one of the finest movies ever made.
Had to come back to hear it once more. I can safely admit. THAT is probably the most beautiful music for Harmonica...EVER. Two weeks ago and I get tears again. Love it.
So beautiful, moving , touching, and makes me sad and cry ... and brings the footage that the man on the bus was found dead , being held by the cowboy ...
So beautiful and emotional, it makes my heart tremble of memories of a time gone by, but also with hope in my heart for our planet, cause music is the only thing that can unite us. Thank you, Grazie, Merci, Danke Schön.
The instrument has a magic to record sound time travel... deep into the fiber and spirit of the soul..as does the violin and base . brutal to your core of existence..
I too learned to play this on my chromatic harmonica, but I must admit, I love your style! I believe you may play that better than John Barry, and he actually wrote the song!
He plays so beautiful, he is so handsome, and sexy. I can watch him over , and over. He sounds so , perfect. I was always mesmerized, by the Harmonic since , I was a little girl. How do they , make music come , from that little thing. My father would say, “ It’s not easy, a lot of practice to be, perfect, and you have to , have the talent, to play it, just like any other instrument “

That sounds too much like the movie. How ironic - and like the movie…sad.
Sorry for your loss.
your story is that of a loner
be blessed on the road brother
Sorry for your loss
Probably the best version of this tune I have heard. Bending mid note gives so much depth. Thanx.
...essa música me trás boas recordações.cresci ouvindo meu pai ouvindo!!! Ele ja não está mas aqui.😢
Faith no More brought me here 😉 ❤
This song and This movie get the sad and magical end of the sixties.
You know, I never thought of it that way. But you're right. Sad and magical end of the sixties . . .
Respeito muito os musicos ou cantores que se atreven á tocar um gaita, mais nunca um gaita agradeceu tanto um artista com esse momento.👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Maybe because sadness is universal.
Vindt het een prachtig instrument werd vroeger met mijn familie graag bespeeld R.I.P Onvergetelijk dierbare herrinneringen ❤🇳🇱🙏👋
I loved this movie, it was so full of sadness and misery, yet such hope sprung eternal. You make that instrument sing like a bell.
Bravissimo Marco bellissima canzone Wow!
An absolutely haunting tune. Close your eyes and all your troubles drift away. Well done 👍

Nor will I. It was in a cinema in 1980. One of the very best films I have ever seen!

"Thanks, Joe" --Rico's last words.
Perfect... Thank you.

You're absolutely right! Amazing film and an amazing tune.
Played beautifully. Credit to you and its writer: The English composer John Barry OBE.

Great touch Marco. Lonely, innocent and hopeless.
Sim. Os 2 personagens do filme não tinham esperanças. Viviam a vida como ela é .

Genio, gracias por tu arte, que honra a una de las mejores (y más tristes) películas del siglo XX.
