i will say, one of the things i do appreciate is that the kids, act like kids. Even if they are smart, resourceful....they respond like kids, scared of the adventure they were eager and even reckless to go on, playing and laughing, wanting to eat (the buffet would be my first choice, then and now), innocent, trusting, acting adultlike (or what they think is adult). They are not adults in kid bodies(it will allow them to make mistakes, not just solve everything and genuinely grow)...it also means the adults act like adults, including being frustrated when they act like kids
I do feel the “filler” argument is overused, but people want episodes and stories to “matter”. I feel it’s a disservice to the medium to only have 6-10 episodes in a season of tv.

I have seen some video stills of the hologram and it does look like a Weequay. That would make sense. We know he's Force sensative--that didn't just happen. Jod is old enough to have grown up on Coruscant and raised at the Jedi Temple, which is what would have happened since that's the time he grew up in. At the time of Order 66, Jod would have been the about the age Obi-Wan was in TPM, so I suppose he could have been a pawdawn like Obi-Wan, but given the circumstances of the times, he was very likely graduated to Jedi Knight like Anakin or General like Ahsoka and Kanan. This would also explain why he doesn't like droids, given that he would have led Clone Troopers to fight them during the Clone Wars. How many of his friends were slain by droids? Jod, like the other Jedi we've met after Order 66, has been on the run, becoming whomever he needed to be to live another day, and that would explain all the other names people in this series have called him by. He just explained to Wim that the galaxy is rotten, meaning that he has given up on it, which also explains why he's betrayed so many people. The Jedi protected the Old Republic and the Republic for thousands of years, and in the blink of an eye the Empire managed to sway the general public to the new order it brought, turning the galaxy against the Jedi. The Empire in less than three decades managed to erase the Jedi from history. We learned in ANH that few people know of the Jedi, and those that have heard of them think they are band of cooks following a hokey religion. Imagine living in that darkness for 28 years. Wim's overflowing adirmation ofJedi lore must have been like an ember of hope burning brightly to Jod. Wim woke up someone Silvo and Crimson Jack had forgot was there. Jod could have left/killed the children several times already, yet he hasn't. He knew how to turn off SM-33, yet he left him on because he made the children feel safe. The point is Jod could have done whatever it is he wanted to dow without the children, but he has kept him at his side, safe and well fed. He's looked out for their best interest every step of the way. He's not a villain, but a good guy. We are being missed on purpose, because Jod is "alone" and "lost," as he told the children back at Khy'mm's place. He just needed her to yield so that SM-33 would follow his commands; they need another "grown up" in the room since the children won't do what Fern told Wim to do in the first episode, which was to "grow up," lol. 28:45 Wim gave them a very unexpected and authentic adventure. He also made Jod's job much harder! Jod wanted to get off this planet with the least amount of trouble possible--he didn't want to have to reveal who he used to be, but he's going to have to now. He needs to find the children before they get into some real trouble. They don't have SM-33 to save them. They only have each other now. KB and Neel are going to have to use their analytical skills to navigate the grotos they end up in while Fern leads. Wim is going to have to step up. I figure the next episode is going to be Wim and Fern's episode, much like how the last one was Neel's. What a fun episode. Nice reaction guys =)
Reactor from Pantherfilms channel speculated Jod may be a former inquisitor (force-sensitive jedi hunter) turned pirate... that reveal would be a lot more intriguing than the old trope of a rogue jedi. If true, A++ for writers for subverting all expectations.
Btw, has Jod always worn gloves. Have we ever seen his bare skinned hands? If not, then Rich may be right he has cybernetic hands with magnetic power hidden behind those gloves... the oldest pirate captain tropes are hooks for hands. This also explains KB (who may be part cybernetics as well) sensing Jod's false Jedi abilities, like her connection with cybernetic owl Ky-m. I'm also reminded of Jude Law in the film AI where he played a complete robot.

People forget that tv shows used to be 22-26 episodes a season. Nothing can be fast paced all the way through. You get fatigued. Now you may be like but 8 episodes is short and yes it is. You have to have a down point somewhere. A place where our characters rest and heal. In episode four there are obstacles the characters are facing. Fern has her first realization that she can’t actually lead them home safely. They are vulnerable in that episode. Neal has his eyes open that ear is necessary and happens. The episdoe is a misdirect. Oh we’re going home and we’re going to find the coordinates home. It supposed to be slow and kinda a reset on our adventure. I understand you may not like it but I do think it’s fits in nicely. All shows have that episode where the hero’s are trapped in a cave and they need to reflect and find their reason to keep going. I think episode four handles that nicely.
I’m honestly wondering after this episode if Jod isn’t undercover for some yet to be explained side. Law enforcement does send people in undercover to gather information…..
Filler is an anime relevant term. There is no filler in American series. A show slowing down or detouring in order to show character development IS NOT FILLER. I don't know if it's the loss of attention span in modern times, but just because you don't like it doesn't make it filler. Filler is non canon animation that is produced to allow manga writers to catch up to the animators. 😒you can probably tell that this is a sore spot for me. If the creator intends for it to be in the story (no matter what anyone else thinks) it's not filler.
