Very good video. Those videos that make empty silly promises are useless click baits. I'm considering making a video about those too, as I'm a language teacher. Also I love Matt vs Japan.
good video, i'm consider myself a grammar lover, so when i'm studying a language i do the inmerse aproach but i also do twice a week an intense grammar study bc i love and bc it complements my inmersion, understanding better the structure that i just learned. (but this is just me, for other may not work). and having goods habits makes learning a language fun. i have my own learning technique and have many of inmersion aproach in it. but for everyone regardless of your method, consistency and eveyrday work is needed to reach some kind of fluency and if you can integrate refold, will be even better. thanks for the video, new sub!
Loved it, I'm watching a channel that made some playlists on the target language that my objective is to acquire it! Passed 40 minutes and I was sleepy, solved with a piece of white chocolate bar and water. Gonna keep those 40m a habit and this is well explained, thanks for that!
definitely agree on the fluency part. imo it would take a year at absolute minimum to actually reach fluency ( actual fluency, not just bare minimum shit ) in any language. I think it depends on your background on studying languages, like if your familiar with how to go about studying a language ( immersion method because why would you go any other route ) as well as the specifc language(s) you already know. But even then, a year is a stretch a think. but great video!
Yeah, to become very good at a language, definitely a year or more would be required of constant practice. I'm learning German for more than a year now and I'm definitely not yet fluent.
Your habit loop was excellent. The book--The Power of Habit--is an excellent read! Nothing at all to do with language learning but if one were to look in the back of that book in the section about how to form a habit, they could easily apply it to learning a language, too.
Hey~ i don’t loathe your content, but I’m not sure how i feel about the amazing amount of criticism leveled at some of the other polyglots… for example, what’s exactly your problem with Steve Kaufman? His method is pretty much in line with the immersion school…. This video kind of sounds more like the inquisition actually… refold is not the only way to learn a language and there are other immersion methods that work too… I kind of feel you are criticizing everyone else except Matt.. Matt is amazing, but so are many others… (some of whom you’ve featured in this video)
You're right, I was a bit harsh than necessary but my problem with Steve Kaufmann is that he mostly uses a deceiving definition of fluency. He is 'fluent' at a surface level. I'm not saying this is bad, if that's your goal to be surface level at a language then that's okay, but that's not fluency. Fluency is much deeper, requiring years to achieve. Hopefully, I'm clear, but yeah perhaps I was a bit too harsh with explanations.
@@jazmine9570 You're right in saying that fluency does mean one has to know every cultural reference and be flawless. Kaufmann can be seen as fluent even though he might not be so deep in a language as with Matt. Matt was not involved in the video, sorry if I portrayed him wrongly. I agree Lindie Botes and Richards are nice people, I was mainly talking about their video shown in the video.
Thank you Ami, i watched most of your videos and i have been struggling to find a method or the motivation to consistently learn my language. i really love this approach and have been adopting in for a while now and i got to say that im very happy for it (especially the reading video). I really hope your channel gets bigger and that many others can find your channel like i have when they're struggling or wanting to learn a more easy to do method or just learn at all
@@amiothenesthank for information. Comprehension input put simply is to understand what you are inputting ? My struggle is if it is indeed so, don't you agree it takes much more time to comprehend. I suppose you recommend understand surpass merely reading ?
¿cuantos idiomas hablas?¿cuantos idiomas estas aprendiendo con el metodo refold?¿que le recomendarias a una persona que quiera aprender un idioma con refold?
So, since Matt and Yoga have parted different ways and now Matt promotes the refold method, does it mean that Yoga offers something different?? Is Refold exactly the same as MIA?
Yeah, he promotes Migaku but it is mostly centered on his tools like the Browser Extension and his Anki Dictionary. Although, Migaku lately tried to set on something on the language learning process, most of the MIA learning steps transferred to Matt's Refold.
@@amiothenes Yes, I am exploring the Refold website right know and it describes the MIA method very well. Once again, thank you for an excellent video!!! :-)
I wish i can enjoy something to read in Japanese, but jezuz the japanese novel is oversaturated the isekai novels. Where the story is about you wake up in dfiferent world and then you are surrounded by loli girls. I have zero interest in isekai
Really drew out this video and I feel the same with the other videos I've seen from this channel on this topic. Lots of "these things don't work" fluff to make the video longer (I guess for your add revenue? I'm not really sure why else this would be written as if its a witty infomercial). Whatever, I guess I'll have to get through it but I think it just reflects poorly on the makers of this video.

you're criminally underrated

Looking forward to it, Metatron!
Good video. Appreciate you calling out other methods and RUclipsrs with false promises. Hope you can keep doing so even once you're more popular.

Thanks Elias! Yeah, for right, for any method, daily consistency needs to be maintained to make some progress.

Thank you for the language learning tips! I’ve been trying to learn Russian to trash talk my table tennis partner as he is very poor at the game.
I'm glad you found this video useful!

All of the RUclipsrs you mentioned are my favourite ones but I still LOL how you criticized them. Good video still 👍🏼
