I listened to half of this song, thinking to myself “wow the intro is a lot longer than I remember”, before realizing this is the instrumental version
I-

Skinless skin
Pfft-
That's funny.
if the radio keeps playing songs like this it will never die
Too much cRAP on radio as it is....plus they repeat songs SO OFTEN that I truly believe that the "pop
in pop musicstands for "Probably Over Played".
TOTALLY AGREE
TRULY Instrumental. NO background singers at all. Other karaoke providers need to see (or should I say "hear"?) this video. KUDOS!!
@@kishazirka Fixed....thank you
Actually, the typo was there to prove I'm human....human....human /s

Yes, this is the right way to do it.
I think for some songs the background singers were part of the same track as the instruments & therefore would be hard to remove, especially back in the 1980s.
all i hear is da nananan naaaaa
The vocal track is so well known that it gets in the way of hearing this great backing track.
Yes, I'm here from "Eekum bokum".

Sounds like any rpg hero’s hometown theme. I love it
1:44 is a hypnotic moment.
sounds like we're stuck in a year 2013 playing vice city and watching the croods a lot because how forgets the song is came out in the late and early 80s
(Lyrics)
I heard you on the wireless back in fifty two
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you
If I was young it didn't stop you coming through
Oh a oh
They took the credit for your second symphony
Rewritten by machine on new technology
And now I understand the problems you can see
Oh a oh
I met your children
Oh a oh
What did you tell them?

Found this in an Eekum Bokum meme and the moment I heard it I knew I had to check it out.
Eekum bokum old
For all those who know and studied music theory as a only one year music student in college I believe this key is D flat major with dominant 9th's. Extremely fun but very complicated music writing.
MTV really started with such a banger!
Sounds like any rpg hero’s hometown theme. I love it
The guitar at 3:34 just sounds so good with the piano! :O
I can still hear the words in my head
Especially "ouuwa-ouuwa" part :D
i love the part when trevor horn sings they took the credit for your second symphony and then suddenly the melody sounds like we're in 2013 holding a white samsung phone vibing to the buggles because of the clone ddr game i bought on an android market that's filled with timeless mobile games from fruit ninja and subway surfers running on an white smartphone
Not a fan of this song by any means, but the arrangement of this track is SUBLIME. It constantly changes and doesn't stay doing the same thing long enough for the listener to get bored. Genius.
Trevor Horn is THE genius behind it.
that's called "a motion". first used in classical music.
this doesn't constitute it, but ehh its lose enough.
not a fan ☹️☹️
I agree…minus your first clause.
How can you call the arrangement sublime but not be a fan of the song?
Trevor Horn Legend.
Worked on some fantastic and epic tracks with the Pet Shop Boys too!
I never knew this was in a meme. I truly live under a rock.
Same here
Hey buddy, I knew about this song all the way back in the late 2000s, when youtube was just starting out to be popular, but still niche nevertheless compared to 2015 and beyond.
This song is nostalgic. I love it!
never understood why old people went on about the old days now I am 50 I get it please I want to go back please
"Calgon!! Take me away!!" (Sorry Millenials, Gen X humor)
For the record, the song was inspired by the short story "The Sound-Sweep" by J.G. Ballard, published in the February 1960 issue of Science Fantasy. It tells a rather dystopian tale of a world where sound and music are basically outlawed.
as books are in 1953's Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" wooowww!!!!
Which is ironic considering there was a children's animated TV show back in the 1990s where musical instruments and a child fight back against a society that has outlawed music as well.
Perfect karaoke stuff!
Because it's original instrumental :)

Where did this come from. I've been a fan of this song for years and have never heard that ending anywhere before. I'm totally fascinated by this.
The end with guitar is something absoiutely incredible. I alwyas heard it fading out covered by voices. I wonder where did they find this amazing version
Going back to 1978. Goodbye, damned 2020.

Brings me back to a simpler place and time when people were good and life was nice people were happier customer service was a real thing respect was given and the world was a nice place to live. what I wouldn't give to go back in time see those friends and loved ones who have passed on before everyone was p.c. and people friends family and neighbors mattered the music was great the boys were cute times were simple.
Yawn

I'd definitely go for simpler times when the internet didn't exist and you actually had to go outside to meet up with other people, including your friends and such.
