Boomer, great operationsal session. "Bob" is inspirational. I hope in 20 years I will still be modelling, I know what he means about knee, hip, and back pain. Thank you Boomer for a great video, and thank you "Bob" for some interesting loads to be moved through River Road. Cheers, happy modelling, and stay safe, Michael
Thank you Bob, and Boomer. What a wonderful gift and thanks for sharing Bob’s gift. What a unique “Sector plate”/ interchange. The Ferry, loading ramp, bit of river tells everyone you are certainly at the River Road. Boomer thank you for sharing not only Bob’s gift, but also your gift of being a multi talented modeler and videographer. Without both skills (and all that goes with it) you wouldn’t have been able to touch so many of us. Well done!!
Wow! Great video. I also enjoyed your appearance on the youtube podcast. Those pipe loads are great! Boomer I'm so impressed at the time you take to get it done and get it right, yeah you put a lot of pressure on us BUT you show us all that it's worth the time and effort in the long run .thank you for ministering to us all in this hobby that we love.
It's nice to just take your time and enjoy the whole process. The best part of model railroading is actually building the world you choose to live with. ;-)
I remember watching the men load a ferry on lake Michigan near Frankfort. They used a flat car just like the one you use so the engine didn't have to get on the ferry. I was told that it was common. We would vacation close to there every summer and one time we even took the car and went across the lake on the ferry. Good memories... This was a long time ago when I was less than 10 and now I am over 75. Thank you for the memories of good times.
Boomer, what you are doing has touched many in the hobby. Bob gifting you the flat cars is a testimony to your reach. Bob's craftsmanship of the loads is fabalous. Keep on sharing, and thanks again for your channel. PS. Love the shots through the ferry while you're loading or unloading cars.
Boomer, nice to see the Carrier Princess finally getting down doing some work and earning it's keep. This is just the right sort of load the ferry was built for. I have heard tell that a new Wind Farm is to be built up the line and all the towers, turbines and blades will have to come over on the Ferry. In construction order. Sometimes the blades have to sit on flat cars just parked in sidings for a few weeks waiting for when they can be moved to the site. Anyway a great addition to the layout.Cheers, Chris Perry.
Never thought a model railroad video would make me emotional this way... Love what Bob did, and sure love what you did, Boomer. BTW, your channel is among my top-5 modelling channels on the 'tube. Awesome work, great scratchbuilding skills and lovely presentation. Keep it up!
Boomer, Bob, which is actually his real name called me all excited about this video. I just shared this with his best friend , my Dad who’s in the ICU and is now in Hospice care in the hospital and he watched it as much as he was able. Your videos have really helped my Dad in the ICU and also Bob who’s very sad about the thought of losing his best friend and train buddy. Thank you so much again. Tom❤
Amazing, I’m called Bob and my father was 89 on the 10th November. Love the shots from inside the ferry whilst it’s being loaded. In the UK they used to have a freight ferry between Dover and Calais in France. Had to be loaded by two locomotives on two tracks at the same time to keep the ferry balanced. The ferry was used mainly for carrying dangerous goods, chemicals and nuclear traffic. Sadly it was withdrawn in the 90’s after the channel tunnel opened. Agree with you that adding lighting to a layout enhances it greatly. Keep up the great work. 👍🚂
The only thing missing from the ferry that I can see is a 3d resin print of you with a captains hat on standing on the deck bud. Nice video bud. Thx for sharing the letter.
TY Boomer, as always... My day was a coal mine in South Wales and got involved in a call. Went to trade school and trained as a joiner/carpenter. Joined the british army in '39, rejoined the construction industry until his retirement. While there are now generations, skills are leaving us as generations like these pass.
beaut loads. works of art. You've inspired me to get out the solder iron and punch out a bunch of 0402 SMD's for my boat I modelled after seeing your piece of art.
I hope "Bob" is grinning from ear to ear. Love the channel as a long time club modeler I am once again working on a personal layout and you have given me so many ways to improve my effort. Can't thank you enough !
Nothin' finer than a pipeliner! Handled my share of pipeline pipe in my years as an operator. What a fantastic loaded cut of cars Bob has bestowed upon River Road. 😊🤘
Class act Bob and Boomer! After so many "look what came in the mail today" videos (and never to be seen again) this rings true of a thoughtful gift, truly appreciated.
When I heard the music ( Tonto ) at the beginning I thought it was a tribute to Roy Smith from Union Pacific rail who passed a few months ago. What a special tribute to Bob. I teared up when you read his letter
Very cool, Boomer. You better be careful running opps before the layout is complete. If you drop the barricade on the back of the Princess, I bet you could get all your rolling stock and the engines to fit on her deck 😊.
Very nice operation about Bob getting his pipes 🤩, there is just something that I missed; a person "🎵... sittin' on the dock ... 🎶" ... "🎵... watch 'em roll away again, yeah ... 🎶" 😉
Finally, the ferry changes everything. I didn’t expect it but the operations are now having a goal and that’s what I should think since I am thinking my future layout. Awesome build, well done and cheers with Bob from France 🇫🇷
I knew all along where I was headed when I planned this layout. Of course, many wondered even though I tried to describe it. But how do you project three years ahead? Layouts take time no matter the size. In fact, smaller layouts can take longer than larger layouts if you model in finer resolution. ;-) Cheers.
Kudos to Bob. I really love the amount of strapping and timber supports on those pipes as it actually looks like they would work in the full sized world. Might I have the temerity to suggest, however, that you add a few web restraints, from the wagons themselves, over the bottom row and the top of the load in order to make them perfect, at least for an Aussie load.
I am glad she is done as well. It's comforting to see her sitting below on the staging shelf, ready for any kind of ops, any time I decide to operate for an hour. ;-)
Goodness still exists in this world. Thank you Boomer for giving us such a fun, friendly and educational space.
You bet!
Master builder and teacher, also a very nice man
Sounds like it for sure.
you and bob
That's a great sharing all around. I can't help noticing how Bob's handwriting looks like it would be a modeler's!
I'll have to ask him about that. Lol
Thanks Bob....doesn't get any better than that. Beautiful cars.
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome sights and sounds! Thank you for sharing and cheers to "Bob"!
Thank you!

Those 4 pipeline flats look awesome! Thanks, Bob (and Boomer for doing another awesome rail fan video)... pretty special! 😊
Thank you! They are indeed.

Yeah. The Ferry is really cool to set up and operate. Thank you!
The most realistic shelf layout on you tube hands down! Camera work is perfect. Thank you Boomer for EVERYTHING you do for us.
Thanks for the kind words.

Look closely. They're more than "just" pipes. There's end detail and the interior is painted. Well done Bob and Boomer!
They are very nice indeed. Fallen Flag "BLMA" stuff, bought out by Atlas.

Beautiful cars and loads. Also amazing just how much the Carrier Princess has added to operation.
It's been a lot of fun getting this operation going.
I love everything about this railroad...your sound system is extremely realistic..
The sound can be a key part of the enjoyment. I need to figure out how to add environmental sounds as well. ;-)
@@boomerdiorama I just watched the video on sound, and it answered all my questions..I'm so glad I found your channel!
Looks awesome, especially on the ferry. 'Bob' has done a good job of the packing & strapping, wonderful to see.
Thank you. Cheers!
