The main issue with our players is game awareness. At this level, they have the skill, especially the bowlers. Don’t you think education is a key enabler for this? Modern cricket is institutionalized to such a level that you cannot consistently win without game awareness (and situational awareness).
Javed Miandad was NOT an opening batsman. Saeed Anwar and Hanif Mohammad as openers (Hanif sb scored that 334 vs WI as an opener). Then Zaheer Abbas, Younis Khan, and Javed Miandad. Zaheer was a great one-down, esp. in seaming conditions. Sure you can bring Yousuf and Inzamam as replacements. Also, a replacement for Asif would be Mr Reverse Swing himself, Sarfraz Nawaz (and he can actually bat a bit too!)
@@ThePakistanExperience sure, but if we are making an 'all-time Pakistan Test XI' then only including players from late 1980s onwards or those we millennials saw growing up would defeat the purpose of it being 'All-time'. I understand what you are saying regarding number 3. But if shielding is the case then openers shield the most because they play fresh bowlers new ball. So thats quite not true in every case. Yes chanderpaul used to shield lara but Hayden Langer used to shield ponting mostly. And playing new ball also has an advantage Because the ball travels more . Picking Rizwan over Moin khan or Latif, it’s insane, with the kind of technique Rizwan has, he won’t last long while facing any world class bowlers. Secondly you have Imran khan and you still giving captaincy to Babar…shocking😮
At the outset, your setup (framing?) is confused (if not wrong). I wish you had set some assumptions down such as Tests, shorter formats, cheating (glad you included Asif!), for which era, etc. You haven't and thereby you confused us and, importantly, yourselves. If you want to pool the best from the ages for the CURRENT era, I doubt "jasbah" is the primary criterion for selection although I'll admit it's useful. Given the professional nature of the game today and the state of Pakistani game (mind?), I can't think of a better leader than Misbah. Imran is for his age and for that band of renegades. Not for modern times. Misbah is an all-season leader. He's Pakistan's Brearley imo. He'd be able to rein in Shoaib Akhtar, although I'm flummoxed how you can put him on level with Wasim (in my World XI), Waqar, and Imran. (Fire him for Qadir!) You know it but disregarded the fact that cricket has moved on from being a lazy, meandering "Indian summer" pastime to being an athletic sport. All you have to do is look at the bodies, attitudes, and habits of previous generations versus the current crop. The pros today train like pros in other sports. And they are managed by pros - technically and dispassionately and not emotionally (a la Imran era). That's my argument in favor of Misbah. You whined about the state of affairs in Pakistan and how it peaked with Saeed Anwar. Agreed. The decay is inherent in that same womb! Saeed Anwar is one for the ages and I love his batting but, sadly, he planted the seed of the malaise by bringing the misdirected country's favorite ideological pastime into the game. From across the border, I was (and have been) sad to see the cricket go from jannat to sewer (and dragging great cricketers like Inzy and whatever the affable masih--with the longest beard!--is now called). Compare the current crop with my gen Pakistani players - their style, their urbanity, their spunk, the bad boy attitude - both the Miandad kind and the Sarfraz Nawaz kind - they really excited us in contrast to the very "correct", tame, timid, "Bombay brahmins" (without prejudice to "Boston brahmins"). I was going to flame you both on dropping some "oldies" (here's a taufah to you both from my generation - 🖕) until I heard you admit (oh, well, safe-harbored) your recency bias. Despite the passing ref to Wasim Bari, no Zaheer Abbas? Not even a mention of Intikab Alam? You young punks! [PS: I could go on but ... . I do hope you will do this frequently. Do you know why they're not doing the The Pavilion show (A Sports) for the world cup? (Fakhar-e-Alam and his band). A fantastic show that is incomparably better than any. I really miss it].

I got to know your guest knows nothing about ABT cricket when he said I'll choose Yasir Shah over Abdul qadir or saqlain mushtaq.
Your guest said Babar as T20 opener . I wanna know why is he your guest on this episode. Sorry I'm getting riled up but cricket is personal
Why is he so much obsessed with Yasir shah 😂 and look this guy is overtaking Great Abdul Qadir with Shah .

Expected a better stuff from Pakistan. Please guys!!
In the US almost all major league teams have 3 to 4 Minor league teams. This is how the domestic teams should be supported by 3 to 4 departments.
