Both K9999 and Nameless are my favorite characters in KOF but I would love to see them interact.

Awesome as always!! Wanna see some southtown lore!! Some rock haward / alba. Maybe some psycho soldiers lore (kensou dragon tattoo??) Just keep them coming!!
A crazy thing is that Nameless came close to death at least 180 times, so he's pretty resilient. I'd also like to think that if Nameless would ditch NESTS in a heartbeat, but he doesn't know what happened to Isolde, so all he can do is stay loyal in the hopes that he could see her again. Another interesting thing, Nameless's code name, Zhe Prime, uses the Cyrillic letter of Zhe, which looks like Ж. The letter Ж also looks like 2 "K"s back to back, which makes sense cause Nameless is a clone of K', who himself is a guy infused with Kyo's DNA. His hair is also black, half white, which I believe comes from Kyo and K''s hair. I've also noticed lots of people prefer K9999 to Nameless cause Nameless is "edgy," but if all your life was based around painful and suffering tests and coming close to death at least 180 times, I wouldn't think anyone could be cheery after that. This is made worse since he's a clone, and as such, I'm pretty sure there was no wonderful childhood to be had. Also if the only person you ever loved goes missing one day and you don't know why, that just makes things even worse, so I believe that Nameless has many valid reasons to be "edgy," but I wouldn't personally describe him that way.
This happens because some people are stupid and believe Edgy=Bad and therefore fake. There are many realistic reaons for a person to be "edgy", and edgy "behavior" is pretty justified in many situations, even in real life. What happens here is that meany people live a happy life and cannot accept that some people are dealt a bad hand by life. Moreover, come live in my country where you either grow up to be edgy noticing all of the obvious corruption issues in the government, seeing clearly that the new laws are only put in place to screw the population hard and offer not benefit to the country itself. Or you are born a coward and turn your blind eye to anything and happily present your rear to whoever is in power, preferring to war with your fellow citizens over stupid political sides, instead of dragging the motherfucker who's making everyone's life miserable down from his throne, while reforming the government who has pretty much putrified for what is now 3 whole generations of corruption driven choices. And laws that haven't seen a revision in decades with rules that simply doesn't work nowadays.
Well first off great video man. I tell everyone I know about your channel! Secondly, based upon story alone I would have to say that Nameless gets the edge. I like both characters, but K9999 has a lot of ties to Tetsuo for his overall appeal and the copyright thing is understandable. Nameless could be intergrated in the current KOF 14 arc even, since NESTS is gone but if you remember Nelson's story ending, the company that have him his robotic arm have some weird ulterior motive. Maybe they are like a weird alternative NESTS like company looking to make super soldiers. Nameless could seek their help to restore his wife. Pretty cool backstory. While i like both, Nameless has more story potential. But I wouldn't mind seeing K9999 back in action or mentioned in some way.
Though i've never had the opportunity to play 2000 UM, i think I like Nameless' story more. I particularly like that he confuses Kula for his ex for a brief moment. I really hope he gets canonically put into KOF XV... especially with how they eluded to the shadow of NESTS in the "A New Beginning" manga.
Everyone's been waiting for this video, myself included~ Gotta say though, the art featured in this vid is intriguing. A lot of it I've never seen before! (granted, most of them which I've never seen is fan art but still!) This video was interesting for sure as it doesn't follow the usual structure that your KOF Lore videos do, but that's great nevertheless~ But yeah, so I *STILL* find Nameless to be the far more interesting one than K9999 both in story and gameplay. lol But it's VERY clear that Isolde has a striking resemblance to Kula. Though KOF 2002 UM is a non-canon entry, I would've like if they did a little bit more with that, especially since Kula's origins are... all over the place due to how the NESTS saga misuses the word "clone" (For example, they say that K' is a clone when he's actually just a ordinary got who got kidnapped and infused with Kyo's DNA. Whip, originally named Seirah, is actually a clone.). Nonetheless, once KOF XV is fully announced with gameplay footage and whatnot, I hope Nameless makes a canonical comeback. HECK, KOF: A New Beginning (a manga based on KOF XIV's events) actually has NESTS return. Even Igniz comes back...though he's killed again in like 2 chapters by Kyo and later K'. lmao But still, Nameless could make an appearance there... maybe~ I doubt it, but I can hope darn it! And yes, SNK LOATHES K9999. Go to the KOF 10th Anniversary website, they acknowledge... or rather _refuse_ to acknowledge him very much and talk about how he looks like a certain someone. Keep in mind, that website was made during KOF XII's development (and KOF 2002 UM was on the way too). It doesn't help that they removed K9999 from official galleries like the one seen in KOF XIV. It's no secret that SNK doesn't like him and there's a 99.9% chance he's never coming back. (He's not even acknowledged in KOF: A New Beginning by the way... though in a flashback of Angel's, she _does_ escape via a motorcycle... K9999 liked motorcycles... and that's all I'll say on that. lol) I personally don't really like K9999 all that much mostly due to how much he's ripped off of Tetsuo, but his animations are superb. I cannot deny that. But hey, if there's anything fun about K9999, he's actually VOICED by the Japanese VA of Tetsuo from Akira... and Kusanagi (Kyo's doppelganger made by Chizuru) is actually voiced by the Japanese VA of Kaneda also from Akira... and in KOF 2002 (not KOF 2002 UM), they have a unique intro... Also Nameless is voiced by the Japanese VA of Jotaro Kujo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. TwT KOF really likes JoJo if Benimaru and Leona's special (references Sheer Heart Attack, the unstoppable stand of Yoshikage Kira!) weren't clear enough. lmao
KOF: A New Beginning Manga series was such an awesome read, even though it's not much *Brutally Violent* like the other Martial Arts Mangas I've read, but the story is definitely better than the KOF14 game.
I actually prefer K9999 over Nameless. Nameless is not a bad character but he is another emo guy who wields fire as his main weapon. We have too many characters like him in KOF
What really makes me sad/angry is that we never discover K9999's ultimate fate. I would like if he was just mentioned in a miserable sentence but no. SNK is a bit unfair sometimes.
@@meganinten0078 The way how K9999 was treated is like how Hsu Hao from MK was treated, except that we all hate Hsu Hao and the MK developers hated him so much they have him Canonically killed not 1 not 2, but 3 times. (Hsu Hao was killed by Jax in his own ending in MK: Deadly Alliance, and got killed again in MK: Armageddon, yet again in the MKX Comic Book where Scorpion killed him)
You know all those souls Verse released when he was defeated? What if one of them was Isolde? Also, I can't help but compare Nameless' design to Lars Alexandersson....
I don't think that's possible. Verse contained the souls of evil dead characters (although Ash certainly treads that line thanks to being almost a byronic hero). However there is a blue entity that Shun'ei posses another half of that just might be Verse's opposite, meaning it's possible that this other entity is carrying the souls of dead characters that weren't evil themselves, like Maki and Isolde.
@@extremmefan7305 Explain Gaidel then, who we know tried to actually escape life as a member of the Hakkeshu to live a more peaceful one with his family before Goenitz came by.
@@sonicmaster95 Because he's still a member of the Hakkeshou? You know, the same clan trying to eradicate humanity? Though like Ash he kind of treads on that line too, I'll admit. But characters like Maki and Isolde don't have anything evil pertaining to they themselves (Isolde was most likely kidnapped from somewhere to be used as a guinea pig for the Anti K program, meaning if anything she was an innocent victim), so I don't see how Verse would have the souls of characters that aren't affiliated with evil at all by themselves.
You forgot to mention K9999's secret max despo move tho :( The one where floats in mid air and calls down apocalypse onto his enemies and you need to spam backward-forward to trigger it while being in air :( That move looked damn cool :"D

How about making them the same clone and K9999 was refined due to his defectiveness, memories wiped and all. K9999 can shape shift so Nameless could be the refined K9999.

Man i like both of them but i like Nameless more because i knew of him before k9999 because of KOF All stars great mobile game btw and when i saw Nameless he actully reminded me of Lars from Tekken their hair the cool attitude kinda off their cool design bit their powers are different. I just hope Nameless comes back and k9999 too with a new and cooler design.
K9999 could return with a change in appearance and Nameless could be revealed as the 10,000th clone. Thus keeping both and making for an interesting rivalry. I think it would be cool if K’, K9999, and Nameless made amends and became a new team.
And he didn't appear in the Story Mode of KOF 2001 in KOF All Stars. All my hopes to see K9999 were shattered... Rest in Peace, K9999 (2001-2021) My favorite character in KOF 2001 and vanilla 2002 😢😞 F*** you, SNK
As long as I see no Nameless in any other game, I feel very sad. Idk why, but I'm feel Nameless's pain, not as much as he do, but I can feel it in my life.
Would you ever cover Nameless story in All stars? Or ever revisit this topic again? Since K9999 came back and Nameless in KOF All stars with a complete Story.
I love Nameless, he is cool and mostly voiced by Daisuke Ono. I like his personality more than K9999. Of course his MAX2 Rinkou where he summons a pillar of flames with a silhouette of Isolde is my favourite move of all. I liked Nameless background music as well when you fight him. I'm sorry K9999 fans, but Nameless is my favourite fighting character among the 2.
K9999 will never be seen again. though Nameless, I wouldn't mind him making a comeback. He's on my list of forgotten warriors who need a comeback: Number 1 on it being Star Fox's Krystal.
I wish they would keep k9999 and change his design, nameless backstory is neat but he well always be some non canon oc made to replace a copyrighted design
K9999 reminds me of Tetsuo from the movie Akira. He even has that crazy arm attack like in the movie when Tetsuo loses control and almost kills the commander.
@Cult Eastwood No he is not and you can look this up. KOF02UM isn't canon, it's more of a "dream match" as stated cause it included characters that were killed off. PLUS, the canon story continues in KOF03. Who told you he was canon?
As a Geese Howard fan, I always enjoyed pulling off K9999's supers for their pretzel inputs. Nameless, now that you mention it, I actually hope they bring him back this year for XV.
Make both K9999 and Nameless canon. Maybe K9999 changed his name to Krohnen. To add some character in this NEST clone experiment. Maybe Kyo decides to revamp his motorcycle to resemble the Akira bike that fans know of and something that the real Tetsuo really wanted to ride in. At least he would make friendly with K9999. While Nameless actually reforms NEST as a city state civilization dedicated to cloning development and cybernetic technology. Maybe he turns NEST into a legitimate scientific based city state. Maybe his cope of depression is to enhance research and hope that maybe he discovers the key elements to immortality and maybe reviving the dead. Scratch that part. We don’t need zombies in the King of Fighters world.
Maybe the Nameless character resembles Renton Thurston from Eureka 7. And coincidence enough, he’s in love with a blue green haired lady like Renton is with Eureka. And also some major coincidence, Rentons older self has some white dye color in the brunette hair style.
Love the choices you make, presenting characters who are not in the focus. Me not being too familiar with that huge roster of KOF’s, I appreciate the insight you deliver. ^^ And, yes, I love the thumbnail, too. xD
Out of the two I prefer Nameless his so freaking cool . Though I do get K9999 short temper ,I'm not a fan of his design (even though the Kofxv is better Nameless design still blows it out of the water )
Thanks for the trivia, I also loved Nameless but I think they both were removed from future rosters besides the copyright risks, for being broken as hell.
There are ways for the fate of these 2 characters: K9999 - It's obvious he may never return in future installments, but that doesn't mean his moveset will disappear forever, his moveset may actually work better on another character just like how Wang Jinrei & Bruce Irvin were replaced by both Leroy Smith & Fahkumram from Tekken. Nameless - Even though he's a "Filler" Character but there are some exceptions of characters that do not belong to the Main Canon Line but eventually becomes a part of the Main Canon, like how Harley Quin went from a DCAU original character into a Full Fledge DC character, same goes for Broly who originated from a DBZ original movie as now a DBS Canon character.
Regardless of all that speculation and reasoning, he could still become a regular char in future dreammatch titles. So there are perfectly plausible ways to keep him in, even if not in story games.
I still prefer K9999 over Nameless. Nameless is not a bad character but he is another emo guy who wields fire as his main weapon. We have so many characters like him in KOF K9999 was a good antagonist and rival for K'
@@meganinten0078 All those characters are trash except for Angel. May Lee got an uproar for replacing Jhun and King and is Eolith's poor attempt at a Korean Athena. Igniz is Eolith's wank fest of intentionally making the most broken boss ever and goes against SNK's original plans of making the NESTS leader the true boss of 2001.
If you ask SNK, Nameless is canon, and there never was a K9999. SNK HATES the latter, refuse to allow him to be mentioned in their offices, and have stricken him from canon. They specifically created Nameless to replace him.
Lore-wise, if Nameless ever comes back as canon, I really bet he'd be like the "superior and stable" version of K9999/Krohnen. And since he is a NESTS assassin to track down NESTS traitors, I really wonder if Nameless ever tracks down Krohnen.?
Ngl I like Nameless more tbh. I feel bad when he lost his girlfriend Isolde since those were his happiness and romantic moments with her and they make a lovely couple. His design is epic too. I love that cape he wears and his pyrotechnic abilities are sick. I wasn't expecting his flames to be more of a dark red or blood color.
Wow today I’m totally fascinated by nameless having just started playing KOF 2002 UM this year but K9999 so cool 😊 I love the Akira movie but I’m curious to read the manga now 😬SO INTERESTING 🤔
Nameless would be a dope DLC character in KOF15. I could see him being DLC, considering they’re bringing old characters back, and he wouldn’t really have a team, seeing he’s non-canon. He’s popular too, so he’d sell well
You forgot to show K9999 secret desperation move in kof 2002, where he goes into the air, his hair turns white, his red cape appears and the whole screen goes white... Other than that, very awsome video! But i wished u showed that k9999 secret desperation move and talked about it :(
If Nameless was canon what I want him to do is that he betray Nest for obvious reason or he discovers that they can't revive dead people so he would just betray them and destroy their bases at first he may not know what to do and just travels the earth for find his reasons and purpose for his life and maybe eventually joins the good guys.
Great video there. But just to clarify, while it's true that K9999 was a rip off and SNK hated having to use him, he's not technically illegal. Nozomu Sasaki, being the original voice actor of Tetsuo, would know if voicing K9999 brought up any legal issues. The fact that he returned to voice him in 2002 would mean K9999 didn't actually incur a lawsuit by Katsuhiro Otomo's estate, or they would have filed an injunction against them. Also, Kusanagi was voiced by Kaneda's voice actor. If there was a lawsuit, it would have been extremely disrespectful for both veteran voice actors to not take Otomo's side. That both of them were able to appear in 2002 and reference Akira would mean that Otomo had no objections to K9999. Also, Eolith wasn't a developer. They had no experience making games and was purely a sponsor. At the time of 2001, SNK was filing for bankruptcy but still operating. Being the financial backers, Eolith had some creative control over the game, which SNK had to accept. Igniz, May Lee and K9999 were the most obvious influences, although SNK was largely OK with the first 2. K9999 has been disowned by SNK. If you look at the KOF anniversary site, K9999's portraits have been removed and his profile description is very vague. Nameless, although first appearing in a non-canonical title is essentially a retcon to replace all references to K9999.
Thanks for the info. Too bad SNK hates K9999 He was my favorite character in the NESTS saga. He is more than just a Tetsuo's ripoff. His design is good. I mean, Benimaru's design in KOF 94 and 95 was just Polnareff but with different colours. I don't hate Nameless but I prefer K9999. Also, I ship him with Angel 😊
@@meganinten0078 I think the problem with K9999 is he's a very obvious rip-off, down to having the same lines that Tetsuo did. Benimaru only looks like Polnareff, but his personality is different. @@meganinten0078 I totally agree with you! I have the 2001 and 2002 comics too, and I thought it did so much more to explain his character than the games did! Yes, the drill was silly. They should just make it like Joe's Neo Max and have him punch out a long column of flames.

They even got Miina Tominaga (Patlabor's Noa Izumi) to voice Angel. They really went all out with the anime VA's for 2001.
Nameless is having his story in KOF All Stars along with Dark Ash and a sad theme along too, Awesome video!
i'm glad Nameless is in All Stars
SNK still remembers him :)
@Lochlan Ribon-chaudat they just released nameless this month i think
I use Nameless for boss raid,he's good
In the JP version, in case you have the global version and are confused
That's Netmarble, not SNK, but still nice
@@utfan971 well, SNK in part, if we can say that
I love K9999, as a fan of Akira I noticed the "resemblance" immediately. I think that is what drew me to him.
Some Facts:
- Daisuke Ono (The Voice of Nameless) also voiced Sebastian (Black Butler).
- There was a censored version of K9999's Gun Arm Super which shows his hand only.
- K9999's voice actor (Nozomu Sasaki) also voiced Lee Chaolan from Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament 1.
Both K9999 and Nameless are my favorite characters in KOF but I would love to see them interact.
I never knew Nameless' backstory! Cool video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
@@ShoryuGame you glad k9999 is back in kof
We'll both of them are really cool, I was rooting for nameless, until I saw that the voice of k9999 is the same actor that in Akira... And that's a lot...
Again thanks for your vids dude! Awesome as always!!
Wanna see some southtown lore!! Some rock haward / alba.
Maybe some psycho soldiers lore (kensou dragon tattoo??)
Just keep them coming!!
I'm so glad that Nameless is in Kof All Star.I love his background story!
Edgy? No. Ungodly hamfisted in his '' tragedy ''? Yup.
Thanks for the support.
Funny enough, K9999 vs. Kusanagi re-enacts a scene from AKIRA since Kusanagi is voiced by Kaneda.
Everyone's been waiting for this video, myself included~ Gotta say though, the art featured in this vid is intriguing. A lot of it I've never seen before! (granted, most of them which I've never seen is fan art but still!) This video was interesting for sure as it doesn't follow the usual structure that your KOF Lore videos do, but that's great nevertheless~
But yeah, so I *STILL* find Nameless to be the far more interesting one than K9999 both in story and gameplay. lol But it's VERY clear that Isolde has a striking resemblance to Kula.
@@joseurbina3835 The story isn't even finished! X'D
(Hsu Hao was killed by Jax in his own ending in MK: Deadly Alliance, and got killed again in MK: Armageddon, yet again in the MKX Comic Book where Scorpion killed him)
Nameless by far. They should do a Nameless vs K9999 cameo in the next KoF so we can put them to the test.
Nameless stomps
You know all those souls Verse released when he was defeated? What if one of them was Isolde?
Also, I can't help but compare Nameless' design to Lars Alexandersson....
That... doesn't really change anything since we know Verse is carrying the souls of characters who were long dead in KoF lore.
@To Start Again Orochi's soul was one of the souls released from Verse, and Orochi was defeated WAY before Isolde was dead.
You forgot to mention K9999's secret max despo move tho :(
The one where floats in mid air and calls down apocalypse onto his enemies and you need to spam backward-forward to trigger it while being in air :(
That move looked damn cool :"D
U mean superman lol😂

K9999 ,is back baby! (under his new name Krohnen)
interesting that they chose him over his more copyright safe counterpart but still cool.
Hope Nameless will be DLC, perhaps making him the 10'000th K clone storywise
(and perhaps he will also get his own name, based on a body horror filmmaker)
They brought him back with minimum Akira references. I think they're safe.
How about making them the same clone and K9999 was refined due to his defectiveness, memories wiped and all. K9999 can shape shift so Nameless could be the refined K9999.
nameless is my fav char in the entire series love his char and backstory with isolde. I also love calling him liars because he looks like lars from tekken
I have no earthly idea that K9999 had such a deep distain K dash. I thought it was a simple rivalry or something. But you open my eyes to the truth thank you. Also I feel nameless's pain
I remember the good stuff from KoF manga during my high school years. I was taken down or removed after a good while, but the manga was excellent. Wish I could find to read more of it.
Both are COOL, but I like Nameless a bit more.

Did u watch the video?
I think Nameless deserves to be canon, kinda like how DBZ Broly changed into DBS Broly and was canon.
Kinda like how Harley Quinn Originated as a DC Animated Character and was now turned into a Official Canon DC Comic Character.
what is the meaning of canon character ?
@@qwzxhskexn9467 Basically apart of the storyline now. Non-canon would be not apart of the storyline, a spin-off rather.
@Cult Eastwood No he is not and you can look this up. KOF02UM isn't canon, it's more of a "dream match" as stated cause it included characters that were killed off. PLUS, the canon story continues in KOF03. Who told you he was canon?
If anything he's supposed to be the replacement for K49
Wow these characters stories are really interesting. I would say Nameless is my favorite between the two.
Love the choices you make, presenting characters who are not in the focus. Me not being too familiar with that huge roster of KOF’s, I appreciate the insight you deliver. ^^
And, yes, I love the thumbnail, too. xD
Amazing video as always!
They are both badass! But K49 takes the cake on that cuz he is based off of one of the best villains in anime.

@@i_Ambrose well really its Tetsuo, but yea he is from Akira

Out of the two I prefer Nameless his so freaking cool . Though I do get K9999 short temper ,I'm not a fan of his design (even though the Kofxv is better Nameless design still blows it out of the water )
Thanks for the trivia, I also loved Nameless but I think they both were removed from future rosters besides the copyright risks, for being broken as hell.
No problem!
Love Heart: I will never appear again in a new KOF game again 😢

You do realize Love Heart originated as a Pachinko character right? (AKA from a Gambling Slot Machine correct?)
@@joseurbina3835 Yes, I know.
Too bad SNK sold it
K9999 not for good boys and girls
Actually, K9999's design was based on Chirico from the anime Armored Trooper VOTOMS.
His name (K9999) is based on that anime.
finally, someone say this!
K'9999 (Tetsuo) : NAMELEEEEESSS
nameless (Kaneda) : Shikereyou, who shikerya
There are ways for the fate of these 2 characters:
K9999 - It's obvious he may never return in future installments, but that doesn't mean his moveset will disappear forever, his moveset may actually work better on another character just like how Wang Jinrei & Bruce Irvin were replaced by both Leroy Smith & Fahkumram from Tekken.

Nameless and K9999 both should be brought back in KOF XV.

If you ask SNK, Nameless is canon, and there never was a K9999. SNK HATES the latter, refuse to allow him to be mentioned in their offices, and have stricken him from canon. They specifically created Nameless to replace him.
THEY removed him from the gallary in kof 14.
another fact is in kof neo wave if you hack the game
k9999 was playable but the game will crash
K9999 is so cool. It really sucks that we never see him again because of how similar he is to Tetsuo, even though he has his own backstory.
Lore-wise, if Nameless ever comes back as canon, I really bet he'd be like the "superior and stable" version of K9999/Krohnen. And since he is a NESTS assassin to track down NESTS traitors, I really wonder if Nameless ever tracks down Krohnen.?
I would love to see that!
he'd also be the 10000th Clone of Kyo
k9999 has 2 supermoves the akira arm and then he does another where he jumps in the air and the screen turns white and he just eats your health!
Nameless'story similiar Spencer's story from Bionic Commando
K9999 has severe anger issues while Nameless has chronic depression

Well looks like he did
Nameless would be a dope DLC character in KOF15. I could see him being DLC, considering they’re bringing old characters back, and he wouldn’t really have a team, seeing he’s non-canon. He’s popular too, so he’d sell well
Funny how they are supposed to be similar and generic, but they are unique and have more personality than any other KOF's characters
Nameless's theme is *_intense_* af

Great informative vid. Just subbed but been watching for awhile.
If Nameless was canon what I want him to do is that he betray Nest for obvious reason or he discovers that they can't revive dead people so he would just betray them and destroy their bases at first he may not know what to do and just travels the earth for find his reasons and purpose for his life and maybe eventually joins the good guys.
Yeah.
Too bad SNK hates K9999
He was my favorite character in the NESTS saga.
If SNK were allowed to give K9999 a more unique personality, I think it would have been very different. Because even with the obvious Tetsuo rip-off, K9999's sprite animations were excellent, and I personally liked using him a lot too.
