A great wander about Shrewsbury, so much history and gorgeous timber framed buildings, so iconic to the area. The church was a standout, that alter window was something very special! I absolutely love the street names, so interesting, those buildings at the end of Grope lane were SO cool. Very much liked this Alice, thanks for sharing, one for a visit for sure!
Hi Alice oh dear, sad about the 28yr old tightrope walker dying while walking it, very sad. So much interesting history and beauty here, Shrews is such a beautiful place, the buildings are so beautiful and I love all of the names of the streets . Enjoyed this 🙂👍~ Anna
Shrewsbury does have some superb architecture and old streets, which most definitely need exploring further. I like these old passageways and old streets, which will feature in a future video from a different location.
We're enjoying an evening of everyone we met today. We loved our time in Shrewsbury meeting you for the first time. This was a lovely reminder of a stunning town! Even saw our ugly mugs on it! There were so many lovely reminders of our day in Shrewsbury in this vid. Cheers 🍻
What a fine old town, all the half-timbered houses are magnificent. A great video, Alice. I visited Shrewsbury in the 60's, one of the most interesting places I've ever visited.
Hi Alice, I've never been to Shrewsbury so I'm fascinated to learn more about it! Oh no, poor Robert Cadman. What a tragic end. An extremely brutal end for David III - drawn, hung, beheaded, AND quartered. Oh my. Beautiful stained glass inside the church. "Grope Lane" was aptly named! 🤣🤣 The town 's historic architecture is so attractive. I enjoyed your tour of the museum and the town. I learned a lot - thank you! ❤
Shrewsbury has so much to offer historically. The architecture is some of the best preserved of any town. Certainly has some interesting streets, some similar to Norwich!
I know Shrewsbury so well Alice! Great to see a video reminding me about the beautiful architecture I walk past all the time without really noticing! Drapers Hall is a very posh restaurant where I once had a most excellent evening. The Clive of India statue is a sore point locally - we tend not to mention it! That postbox has such a small opening you can't get anything bigger than a letter into it 😅. Warm wishes from Millionaire Paul 👋
Shrewsbury is so interesting historically and a location I want to explore further. I thought you might enjoy this video. My 4 years on RUclips video mentions you!
Ha ha, Grope Lane made me laugh, I knew exactly what it was going to be about. There was an even ruder name at one time for those streets involving the C word. I must say, I do almost exactly the same as you when I visit a new town, looking at the historic buildings, the churches, reading all the plaques, going down any narrow mediaeval lane I see, even checking out the postboxes. My last trip was to Oxford and there I saw on the map there is a little lane next to the Philosophy building called Logic Lane. I made it one of my must see items.
There are a surprising number of old lanes with interesting names around the country, especially in London. Visiting any town or city can be so much more fun reading blue plaques and looking at old lanes.
Plans underway for a lot more traffic reductions, you will be pleased to know. Love the window above the altar at St.Alkmunds. You hopefully saw the stained glass in St.Mary's and St.Chad's churches too.
That's good to know about the traffic. Those HGV'S were not suited to Shrewsbury's roads. I've visited St. Mary's twice and both times I couldn't get in, so will try on my next visit. St. Chad's had a service in progress so didn't visit. I shall be back again soon.

Churches ofter throw up a few surprises but I wasn't expecting a window like that. Those buildings were superb and do need further investigation.
Many thanks for the stroll around Shrewsbury, great video 👍
Great to see you Alice !😊 I was here in the summer on route to Wales, very interesting little place 😊😊😊
Prior to arriving in Shrewsbury, I was returning from Wales.

Couldn't agree more. Our Shrewsbury meet up was so enjoyable, as was today. Shrewsbury has much more to give and definitely needs another visit.
Beautiful city

I've made a few visits to Shrewsbury in recent years, and many more I hope. Still plenty to explore, especially those back streets.
@@AliceGoss Looking forward to your next video!

Shrewsbury looks like a lovely place to get lost in! Grope Lane - lol
Shrewsbury is just so interesting to visit. I've visited a few times, and there is still plenty to see.

@AliceGoss I live there - for most of my life too!
Shrewzes history!
You missed Wyle cop?! Loads of black and white buildings there, and the lion hotel plus the nags head pub - loads of history there too.
I'll save Wyle Cop for another visit along with the castle and prison. Too much in Shrewsbury to cram into one video
