Really nice! Is there a way to not fully refresh the screen with every change if just a tiny portion of the shown content is changed? I'm thinking of things like the clock or just one digit of a simple counter?
Yes - there's a partial refresh function. Check out the clock example! github.com/pimoroni/pimoroni-pico/blob/main/micropython/examples/badger2040w/examples/clock.py
I just happened to be on your website and saw this there, so looked to see if there was a video about the device. I will have to get one to go alongside my original model. Just really not a fan of Micro USB-B any more now that I've managed to move everything to USB-C. Thanks for the fun devices though. EDIT: If the next upgrade to the Badger 2040 line comes with a SERIAL connector to update it, then you are definitely a genius.
@@pimoroni I assumed that was the situation. Will order one once my paycheck for February gets processed. Everyone at work thinks the original Badger 2040 I have is pretty neat, so this one will hopefully impress them too. EDIT: Only a few hours later and I just got my paycheck. Yay.
If I were to use this in a project that I sell to a user that is likely tech illiterate, what would be the easiest way to get them connected too their wifi? Could I point them to a .txt file where their wifi details are saved?
It looks like the screen flashes twice every time it's updated (even when scrolling in the ebook reader)... is this actually happening, or is it some artefact of recording it on video?
We're considering our LCD wearable options, but it probably won't be a wireless Tufty - this screen / board combo is just too small to accommodate a Pico W...
Got mine ordered! Excited to connect my Axoltl temperature monitor to my HomeAssistant setup using MQTT!
Nice gadget! Even better shirt!❤

We like USB-C too - limited by the connector choice on the Pico W for this one though :)

@@pimoroni Make badger W v.2.0 with onboard wifi and rtc, not using the pico W
Pimoroni should make an E-Book reader but 6" screen it would be awesome, I would purchase one.

It's a .py file, but yes :)
If it is a pico w does it also have bluetooth?
Yep!
does badger-os let us disable the wifi
The examples connect to wi-fi on a per example basis, the launcher itself doesn't connect to wi-fi.
Does this screen allow to only update part of the screen?
Yes, partial updates are supported (the clock example uses them!).

Yes, there's a little bit of flashing while the screen updates - E Ink is weird stuff :)
Would be nice if Pimoroni would also launch a Tufty 2040 with a Wifi

Hackecble ? Its cool device it would be better , if the rp2040 chip was soldered on the PCB for more low profile
We did that with OG Badger (if you don't need the wi-fi): shop.pimoroni.com/products/badger-2040
@@pimoroni oh did not see it , next moht if i have the money i will probably buy one
Isn't a 2040 kind of overkill when a cheap pic would do the job?
Would be way less fun to program though :)
