You just put this on every track and randomize all...no other processing. It is glorious. Brainworx crushed this.
**UPDATE**
After several months of using this, it's like the only channel strip I use. Just thought I'd share that. I still can't believe they pulled this off. If they charged $1,000 it would still be worth it.
I just got it on sale for $29!!!
This console which I own is the best plugin ever. Simply fantastic and I have no word to tell how good it is!
The sense of "depth" and stereo stuff when switching TMT random is the effect of hearing different EQ moves, comp moves and slightly different THD, because each channel add been modeled differently. It's just saving you a lot of times by not letting you doing it yourself by changing slightly every parameters of your processing... I can hardly get the point of it. Except for the fact that it can brings something surprisingly good that you'd haver never thought of (a bit like a Ozone Assistant).
P.S. : I work mainly on analog desk and have the Bx_N and will maybe grab the E. I'm not a gear snob.
I really like the way they've laid this plugin (gui) out - the VU and dBu together is really cool. And the added side-chain is great! I'll have to give this a demo, as I really like the brainworx stuff... they have a couple of plugins that I absolutely cannot live without (the bx_Digital V3, the bx_refinement is really helpful during mastering-ish duties, and I love their amp sims via UAD). Thanks for the excellent video, as always!
Yes, they made the meters look like the Plasma Meters that were an option on the E console. Most had the VUs but with the Plasma Meters you could turn the entire meter bridge into a Spectrum Analyzer.
brainworx rocks. Love the Dig V3, Ampeg B15N, bx_console, Subsynth. bx Rocks!
Thanks Mike!
Cheers Dirk!
Keep up the great work!!!
awsome plugins and fantastic review :) thx
Cheers!
Great video!
Yours are some of the best out there!
Cheers!
Sounds amazing
This is a great one!
can you make a video about the waves NLS?
Thanks for the assist PJ!
hey mike , thanks for all you help . my ? does this eat dsp / cpu power like uad, which i love but . be nice to have 40 of these on a session . joe
Another great review Mike.
I like the added functionality in the TMT modelling, being able to randomly select channel strip numbers etc. I have BX_Console and its a pain in the ass to have to go through each instance of the plugin and select a different channel. So, good move on their part.
Million dollar question: ignoring for the moment the extra features such as TMT, selecting E vs G compression etc. does this plugin have a better tone than the Waves SSL collection? Would you now reach for this plugin if you want the SSL sound rather than the Waves?
I generally prefer the BX modelling over the Waves modelling, so was wandering if you have an opinion on this
Get both Demo and see by yourself, that´s what i´m gonna do soon :-)
I would take this one every time over the Waves SSL E channel. I have used the Waves version for years and like it but it is long overdue for an update.
the thru to me is all the demos that i have done of Brainworks, mostly guitar amps ******, Elysia mpressor*****, The Stereo maker****** as well the reverb BX_Room (this one i don´t know how to use it, so i don´t rate :-)). blow me away they sound awesome, they are very pro plug ins, sound almost like original hardware. saddly expensive (you get what you pay), hope they do a rent plan or something soon. I ask them and it seems they are on the way
Yes, it seems like the subscription model or having $29 sales is going to be the way forward for most plugin manufacturers
Thanks Mike. That helps. It really does look and sound like a step up from the Waves version. With most (but not all) of the Plugin Alliance stuff I get a quicker and more "analog" result than I do with Waves. Now to look at my budget, lol
Hey Mike ..do you prefer this over the UAD one released some months ago? I can't decide between them.
They are both great but what I think sets the brainworx version apart is the enhancements to the limited feature set of the original hardware like the extended filter range, the Mix control and sidechain filter on the compressor, the external key which is like the original and the TMT is HUGE in my mind.
For a modern workflow, I think this one is superior.
Nice review. I'm on the fence of the BXconsole N, E, G. ($300 per. $900 total) & softube console 1 4000-E ($500) & XL9000K add on ($300) ($800 total)
It's great to have the bx console for the vintage sound+ the channel random TMT. But still feel like the XL9000K is clarity of now.
So question on my mind is, these vs XL9000K. Anyone have experienced or have some thoughts on this? cheers
