Marcus Miller - Bass/Bass Clarinet/Vocals Michael Stewart - Trumpet Kenny Garrett - Saxophone Morris Pleasure - Keyboards Bernard Wright - Keyboards Poogie Bell - Drums
This a Great SONG period...... I pay homage to Marcus's groove by doing the song myself. If you really want learn groove listen to his work and I mean all of it. The Brother is Great
This is a song he wrote for his son, Julian or Ju Ju and was recorded in 1993.... 20 years ago. I guess it was considered contemporary and current. then. PS. The album it was on, The Sun Don't Lie is one of the most influential bass albums of all time (as voted by the readers of Bass Player magazine) But I guess you've got platinum plaques and Grammys for your work so you know what you're talking about.
This is a concert from 1997.... 16 years ago, so we've had 16 years of people reproducing this kind of music so it is understandable why it is boring now.
@ReedBass its was definitely 1994 not a sure where u got 1997 from lol. Nothing boring about this particular genre of jazz especially since this modern era of music is going back to older styles. Ive lost count how many bass players and bands try and emulate Marcus..its because hes timeless and so is his music
because its not Wayne shorters version...its not uncommon for musicians to compose different styled songs with the Same name...Millers version is named after his son
The groove that goes from 3:02 to 3:20 is the reason I keep coming back to this video.
3:37 Nard solo. Mad respect. RIP
