I loved Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird.
Fantastic actor
Farrah Fawcett’s funeral Mass was held there. Absolutely beautiful 🙏❤️
Thank you, Steve. Years ago, I stumbled across Gregory Peck's grave, while visiting LA for jury duty. Fortunately I didn't get picked and decided to tour the area. What a wonderful surprise to come across his final resting place, next to his wife, Veronique. Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels is absolutely gorgeous! Many thanks for the tour. Off topic - I recently came across an article about Beverly Garland's home (Barbara - My Three Sons) in Palm Springs/Indian Wells that is now a landmark, 75-900 Fairway Drive. Desert Sun has an article about it. Beverly was not only a wonderful actress but she was a tourist ambassador for North Hollywood, owning the Garland Hotel, which is still run by family members.
Hi Rebecca, I love it when I accidentally fine gravesites like that. And thank you for the heads up on Beverly Garland. Sounds like it’s in a country club and probably not open to the public, but I will check into it. 😊👍
I met him once at a bookstore (remember those?) He was taller than expected and very cordial. May he rest in peace.
What a wonderful memory to have!
They still have some bookstores here and there. But you probably won't run into anyone famous there. You're more likely to run into someone in a Starbucks. A co-worker pointed out to someone I know that she was making the drink for Robert Duvall's wife. He was there, too. I just checked and I found it interesting that Robert Duvall was in To kill a Mockingbird as well, he played the part of Boo Radley.
I got a barnes and nobles here but i miss Waldon Books :-(
To Kill A Mockingbird…one of the greatest books and movies of all time ,featuring one of the greatest protagonists of all time. Atticus Finch, my hero. ❤️❤️❤️
The book has been cancelled. It is deemed racist by newthink.
Yes! It's giving me goosebumps all over again!!!
Aren't we all so very fortunate to have had Stars like Gregory Peck in our lifetime. Great vlog Steve👍
He was such an incredible actor. As a child I was so entranced by Miss Crabtree.
Who would of think that this beautiful cathedral and mausoleum would be near to a noisy freeway. Gregory Peck was one of my favorite actors. Excellent in the great movie To Kill a Mockingbird. Must visit next time I'm in SoCal.
Such a beautiful and calming place to be laid to rest!!!!
Very lovely and interesting vlog. The cathedral was beautiful . I'm glad Gregory Peck has such a peaceful resting place.
Thanks Steve….. that is such a Beautiful Cathedral
Thanks so much, as always, Steve. My mother who recently passed used to put me down for a nap just a few minutes before her "story" came on and I always fell asleep in another room to the opening music. As the World Turns was her favorite and she was gleeful for years because she got to meet Helen Wagner at some dressy event when I was young. She died at 96 in January but spent the whole rest of her life thrilled she had actually said hello to "Nancy Hughes"!
That is so awesome Bill. Thank you for sharing this memory of your mother with us! 😊👍💙
Who is it Thats interned there? Will you say?
@@gracieg7601 btw it is "interred"...
My mom too, and others. Then after I married and had kids, me too. I'd watch with her, she and her coffee, and me with iced tea. Miss you so much mom...😑
Don't correct other people's grammar, spelling, even if it's a pet peeve. Just shouldn't be done. It's rude and just not classy.
What a beautiful cathedral. Such a beautiful spot and you don't hear the noise of the freeway in the background.I had no idea there was a Cathedral there at all. Very special final resting place. Rest In Peace Mr. Peck 🌻
What a lovely, serene place for loved ones to be laid to rest.
I find it amazing that next to a busy, noisy, and ugly freeway, that such a beautiful resting place exists. It's fascinating that it is so peaceful and beautiful, yet untold thousands of motorists go by it every day and have no idea that it's there. What a unique place.
I agree and it sure is, Ed!
Pierce Brothers Westwood is actually much like this - it's an idyllic, peaceful little oasis nestled in a bustling city block, flanked on all sides by skyscrapers. If you weren't looking for it, you wouldn't know it was there. I should know - I *was* looking for it, and I had a little trouble finding it.
Yes, very true! I was born here and have been to bunches of the lesser known or seen graveyards and mausoleums in the greater Los Angeles area. For the most part, they are beautiful and peaceful places. My paternal grandmother had a penchant for finding and visiting them. My brother and I accompanied her on the adventures. Grandma taught us a lot of things along the way and always took us for lunch at some wonderful places.
I’m a fan of Graveyard Channel because of the respectful filming of cemeteries and churches. It’s actually comforting to know where Gregory Peck is interred. I was a little concerned at the beginning about it being so close to the freeway but the building is beautiful and serene. May all who rest their rest in peace.
It’s amazing how the loud traffic noise is completely gone after entering. The mausoleum was nice but I found it a bit sterile myself.
Fascinating and a very beautiful cathedral. Certainly worthy of a visit.
How many drugs did you have to take to think the Fuhrerbunker was beautiful? Alcohol and bad eyesight by themselves couldn't be enough!
@mechanical smurf I wasn't referring to your reply but the original comment. I actually share your feelings about this dreadful building.
Thank you very much for your great video, Steve. Thanks to you it will be possible to visit the graves of people like Gregory Peck even though it's not possible to travel from the other side of the world for a reason or another. I appreciate greatly what you are doing. Best greetings from Finland and have a great weekend!
Thank you Klas!
June Marlow was originally buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery. Her family had her moved to the cathedral after it was finished. Also, "Miss Crabtree" was the inspiration for "Mrs. Krabapple" (Crab Apple) on The Simpsons.
I guess they all wanted to be together in the cathedral. Thanks for sharing this with us Terry! 😊👍
@@TheGraveyardChannel My pleasure, sir
San Fernando Mission Cemetery is where Bob Hope is buried.
Thank you for all of that information. It was going to drive me crazy to try and figure out how someone was interred in a mausoleum well after her death, and the Mrs. Krabapple info is just a great bonus.
@@SailorAlphaCentauri My pleasure
Thanks for showing us this beautiful space Steve, I enjoyed tagging along for the ride. Love Gregory Peck’s movies too.
Oh steve, Gregory pack was one of my favorite actors and I never knew where he was in turn. I don't think any vloggers have covered him before , that I am aware of anyway. Now, I have to mention what a fabulous job you did while panning around both outside and inside the mausoleum. You panned perfectly, not too fast nor too slow and got great pictures. How well I appreciate that. A masterpiece for sure!
Gregory Peck, not Pack. I always miss-spell the names of my favorites.
Thank you for the feedback Connie! Lol, it’s only taken me 4 1/2 years to get it right. 😂👍
Yes exactly, this is the best one i truly enjoyed it, thank you Steve.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Your pan of the nave is the best and most complete view I've seen. Usually lots of parts but never the whole in context. Thanks.
@@chrisoliva530 Or, too lazy to proof-read and make corrections... smh
This Cathedral/mausoleum are absolutely stunning. Very well done. Thank you for sharing
Ive always loved The Little Rascals..Im glad there are DVD's of them so we can relive a bygone era and see a bunch of good kids who along with their Ms. Crabtree stole we the viewers hearts. It is so amazing that being there in the courtyard you cant hear a peep from the freeway.
Thanks for doing this video...its much appreciated:-)
Chubby: Oh Mrs. Crabtree, there's something heavy on my heart
Jackie Cooper: Oh Chubbsy Ubbsy there's going to be something heavy on your nose!!
What a great show! I have the whole series on DVD and I watch them all the time!!
Was she the inspiration behind Mrs. Krabbapple in The Simpsons?
Even as Jackie Cooper appeared in the original Superman movies, his most famous line for me was:
"You're pretty, Miss Crabtree. You're even prettier than Miss McGillicuddy."
Watched the little rascals in the late 60’s. I was a small kid. Couldn’t imagine growing up without them. I guess alfalfa didn’t turn out good. He got killed at a young age. Sparky was very successful in his later years. Just another iconic show in the day.
Gosh! Thank you so much for taking the time to go and film around the cathedral and Mausoleum. I'm not sure I would be able to get there to visit, but now I feel like I have seen it. You have no idea what a gift you give to others by doing what you are doing. This is just a heartfelt expression of gratitude to you. 🌿
What a beautiful cathedral. The stained glass is exquisite. The engineering of the site is perfect, keeping the outside noises minimized through structure and water features. Thank you for taking us on a visit.
Can’t help but think about “Resting in Peace”…I would think there are quieter places to rest 😳Having said that absolutely GORGEOUS inside Steve 👌🏻
I wouldn’t mind resting there, all my life I enjoyed the sound of life happening, I’d rather hear it than not.
I loved Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday. I didn’t really watch June Marlow, I wasn’t a big fan of Our Gang. What a beautiful Mausoleum. It’s so quiet inside that you would never guess that there is the hustle and bustle of the world outside. I thought that the Chapel was breathtaking. Thank You for sharing this beautiful video with us. Blessings to You and Jim.
Thank you Nancy!
All of Gregory Peck's movies are fantastic. See "To Kill a Mockingbird" it is perhaps the best...
The quiet inside provided probably by tons of concrete, stone, insulation, which cost a ton of money and man hours, so you wouldn't know you're in the middle of a bustling city. Wonderful if that's your cup of tea....
June Marlowe is my wife’s great grandmother. As stated by someone else, she was originally buried at another cemetery. A fan of hers somehow finagled having her remains exhumed and reinterred at the cathedral mausoleum. Nobody in the family remembers anyone being contacted to give permission.
Wow! Have you contacted the cemeteries to ask for the paperwork on her? They should have some kind of documentation that should show who signed off on it.
Yes, there should be a papertrail. I had to reinter my Dad and we had to jump thru a bunch of legal hoops to get permission from the Church (not here)
How could a fan have her body exhumed and moved to another cemetary without her family's permission? This makes no sense to me
@@elizabethschreffler9182 That fan may have been an individual with just the right kind of influence to make the exhumation happen.
@@elizabethschreffler9182 There's another thread in here that said the family had her moved, but didn't say who the last I checked.
Wow I was totally surprised to see Gregory Peck interred there. And I would have never even known that there was a mausoleum there, it is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, definitely a place to visit next time I’m in LA,
Oh goodness..I love Helen Wagner! I’d married got busy with married life had 2 children and hadn’t really kept watching As the world turns. Tuned in one time and oh gosh! Couldn’t believe she was still there! She was such a dear person on that soap. God bless her! 💕🙏🏼💕
I have an uncle buried here and have attended mass here a few times. Once inside it’s definitely a world of its own. It’s been some years since I’ve been here. Your video inspired me to visit again.
Mr. Steve, thank you so much for another amazing tour. This is a beautiful mausoleum. I love Gregory Peck, and thanks for visiting Nancy Hughes from As The World Turn final resting place. I love her ❤
Nice tour, Steve ! I'm with you- I would never have thought anyone so famous would be buried so close to the freeway! After seeing it, though, it seems so peaceful!
Wow! Thanks Steve!
What a beautiful church. I love old Hollywood and how classy everything was today’s Hollywood is definitely way different. Thank you for the info.
i too love old Hollywood & still watch a couple of old
movies a week... the Cathedral though is in downtown LA ... but I love
all of California's early history...im also (was) a big fan of Huell Howsers California Gold series which started in 1991 & ran for 24 seasons....
In the 1960s California and Los Angeles and the entire surrounding area was like paradise now California has turned into a dump you don't even realize how nice it used to be, and it will no longer be like that ever again
Such a beautiful, quiet place to be. ❣️🌸❣️
Hi Steve that was very interesting I remember Gregory Peck and the other stars .still watch his movies Didn't know that just a few hundred feet .that's so close . Be safe on that freeway .🤓Thanks Steve a for another great video
So very happy that you are back out there Steve! I know you enjoy it & so do all of us out here! Thanks so much to you!😊
Thank you Eddie 😊👍
Thanks for talking about Ms Wagner. I watched her for years. When I was baby my mom watched her for years & when I grew older I watched her too.
What a grand find Steve. Gregory Peck one of my most enjoyed actors. Regardless of whom he portrayed I immediately bought into the character and forgot all about Mr. Peck. Also Miss Crabtree! Wow, what a dish! Like just about every boy youngster who saw the Little Rascals she was our first crush. I particularly enjoy her being courted by Norman "Chubsy Ubsy" Chaney with Jackie Cooper as a child trying his best to upset Duane's action. Thank you for bringing us up to the beautiful final resting place for them.
Lol they were hilarious 😂 thanks Mario 👍
Peck was one of those actors not just well known during his era, but was iconic, transcending several generations. Many standup comics would do immediately recognizable impressions of him well past his acting days. An actor of the quiet strength variety, rather than the scene chewing bombast of some other actors.
I watched As The World Turns and l loved it. This was very interesting to me. Thank you.
Beautiful place. Very quiet. Very peaceful. Thanks Steve. Keep up the great work ❤️
Absolutely love Gregory Park! To kill a Mockingbird & Roman Holiday are two of my favorite movies. And of course everyone wanted to have a Miss Crabtree as a teacher. I always would think how lovely she was & I would think to myself that she was would be the teacher that anyone would love to have.☺️🎥
Gregory Parked himself right beside the freeway.
Hi Steve,
What a beautiful final resting place for a legendary actor, Gregory Peck. I do remember Miss Crabtree as well! Cheers and thank you for sharing.
Hi Steve - So unbelievably quiet and peaceful for being that close to the freeway. I loved everything Gregory Peck was in. This was an unexpected treat. Thank you Steve. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
Thanks Judith!
Thank you for this tour! Beautiful cathedral and wonderful tribute to the forever home of these marvelous actors and actresses.
Another great video Steve. Watched As the World Turns with my mom when I was a little girl. I remember seeing Helen Wagner. Haven’t thought about that in years. She was great!
A bit of trivia: Gregory Peck's grandson, Ethan, has played Spock in Star Trek: Discovery.
No way I did not know that! I'm googling now thx
He's also set to star in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as Spock ... premiering soon.
I've seen him. A good actor and handsome young man.👍
Wow! What a beautiful place for one's final resting place! Great video as always Steve! Thanks for the journey down memory lane.
Thank you Steve for this beautiful tour
Hi Steve, Thanks for sharing and remembering these great Actors. Have a Wonderful weekend 😀
Thank you Charles and you too!
Thanks Steve for posting your videos as they are very informative as well as educational too.
Thanks Jack 👍
Hello! Yes I have visited Gregory Peck's grave at Our Lady of the Angels. My family and I took a tour at the mausoleum. I remember watching Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird in high school and my Mom would always remind me that Gregory Peck and I share the same birthday. I didn't believe my Mom at first but when I saw his grave then I believed her. It is such an honor to share the same birthday with a legendary actor. 😊❤
One of my favorite actors
Very impressive cathedral, Steve.
Seriously.
Being from the UK, I, regrettably, did not know the two lady actors.
Obviously I remember Gregory Peck. Truly a class act.
Intetesting upload.
Kindest regards

Glad you enjoyed it DJ!
Thanks for the Gregory Peck info about his final resting place. He was one of the greats. Loved him in Roman Holiday, To Kill a Mockingbird, Gentleman's Agreement, Moby Dick, The Guns of Nevaronne, Captain Horatio Hornblower and many others. My personal favorite is Twelve O'clock High. He could do anything.
On the Beach was a great movie too.
The Omen...good stuff.
@@maxwellcrazycat9204 Another of hid great roles, although I think in my opinion Fred Astaire was also good in the movie.
@@ceceliablazek6909 Good role for him and Lee Remick.

Gregory Peck is one of my all time favorite actors! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for coming along Beth!
That is one of the most beautiful mausoleums I have ever seen!
A place like this takes depression outta the thought of afterlife! U deserve a place like this in your home going service!
Beautiful place - it definitely does not have a cemetery vibe to it-when i first saw it i thought hospital/office building/college-high school. But the mausoleum definitely has a peaceful ambiance about it. Too bad about the freeway but maybe its more convenient to visitors that way.
Thanks for another great blog Steve it was nice to see the Gravesite of one of the greatest Actors of all Time Gregory Peck
Thanks Steve. Such a beautiful cathedral.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. What a Beautiful and Tranquil Mausoleum. Roman Holiday is truly a Classic and one of my favourite films. One of the Greats, R.I.P Gregory Peck 🙏
This is so soothing and your voice is so comforting for those like me who view death as life. Thank you for making these videos. You, through your videos bring an important part of life's journey to everyday folks in a soothing way.
This was a great video Steve! Love that the cathedral is upstairs with the mausoleum downstairs! Such a great use of space especially with the art and stained glass!
Thanks Tom and I agree!
Such a beautiful resting place. Thank you so much.
That place is very surprising! Thanks Steve
So cool Steve, had no idea where Gregory Peck was interred.
Moby Dick is one of my top ten favorite movies. His character, Captain Ahab was great. I always said, all great movies are based on great books. And Gregory Peck did justice to both the book and it's author, Herman Melville. Thanks, Steve!
I agree, Steve! It’s all about the story. 👍
You know, I’ve always hesitated to watch that even though I read it in college. Now you’ve convinced me to give it a watch.

Awww. I am so glad U showed us where Gregory Peck rests in peace.......The Cathedral is stunning too.
Wow! I always loved Gregory Peck! He was brilliant in every role he played, and he was such a class act, too. He insisted upon sharing billing with Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. He was that impressed with her and predicted she would win the Oscar for that film in her first ever role. She did! One of my favorite films. Very beautiful and serene cathedral. Thanks for taking us there.,
Hey Friend Steve:
Another wonderful cemumentary. That building is a real "star"; such beautiful space for folks' final rest and visits by the living. Very well researched as always. Nice work.

Thank you friend Saykhel 😊👍
wow that is simply a amazing looking set-up Having the Mausoleum on site of the church is a very smart idea (While there’s elements of this that seem modern it’s also very “Old County” 👍👍👍

@@CleveIndians Ever been to my State? I've been to yours...Took my Son to Canton Ohio in 2001
.
I didn't see any Ocean there nor Redwoods or Giant Sequoia's...I don't remember any Mountains either nor desert ...seen a helluva lot of corn though...that reminds me... Johnny crapped corn...and I don't care!
I love Gregory Peck the Valley of Decision, Gentlemen's Agreement and The World in his Arms are just a few of my favorites I always wanted an autograph picture but was too afraid to send away for one.
McKenna's gold
Afraid? Why?
I idolized actors & singers even newscasters, I thought they were glamorous and special. Then I heard a singer I was a fan of, that told a fan leave me alone I'm eating dinner and an actor who told a fan why would you collect an autograph it's just a piece of paper, it's stupid! To this day I can't listen to that singer knowing that she crushed someone. And I'm afraid to ask for any autographs for fear my idol would think I'm stupid and that would crush me. I understand they're humans, they put their pants on one leg at a time like anyone else but on another note as an example at Disneyland I get so excited to see Mickey Mouse even to this day and yet I'm an adult I realize there's a human in there probably a girl since the costume is short but I don't think about the cast member in the costume I see the character. No insult to the girl but I'd still like Mickey Mouse's autograph, I guess that sounds stupid.
Thank you for the respectful tour.
Thank you, Steve!❤️
Stunning mausoleum. I can believe how quite it is. It must have outstanding soundproofing. Great tribute
Unless I misunderstood, the mausoleum is below ground.
It looks to be all marble.
Both would make it the surroundings.....
Quiet as a grave.
Wow, I love the space. I’ve never seen a Cathedral do modern and traditional so well. It’s gorgeous - didn’t expect it to be so beautiful with the straight lines it has outside. I love it. I think if I ever visit LA again, I would make this a destination. Glad I caught this I like to travel and when I do check out the interesting churches.
Very interesting and very beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful place - very interesting and of course your voice explains it all so beautifully. Thank you.
Hi Steve, Helen was live on the air (as soaps were back then), in the middle of her scene, as CBS went to the breaking bulletin about JFK. Just thought I'd share this info. Your videos are so enjoyable.
Very well done video. Roman Catholics do an inspired job of bringing heaven to earth in the spaces they construct. You do an inspired job by your writing, videography and narration. I am unlikely to travel to these places, so thank you for bringing them to me.
They do an even better job of bringing millions of illegal immigrants into the state as well as others. An inspired agenda?
