  • Episode #500
After 500 “BiggerPockets Money” episodes, we’ve learned a thing or two about financial independence. But, for this special episode, we wanted to find some of the best advice we’ve ever received on the show-advice that changed our lives as much as it did yours. So, we’ve lined up a few of our favorite clips from the past 500 episodes with top-tier guests like Codie Sanchez, Ramit Sethi, and more. If you’re a new listener of “BiggerPockets Money,” this is just a TASTE of what you’ll hear on future episodes.
We’ll touch on a “financial awakening” one of our past guests had, finding that many of us live a “broken” life without even realizing it. Then, a spending hack that lets you live in frugal luxury while slashing your expenses. We talk about how to escape your nine-to-five and buy a business that helps you achieve true financial freedom. Finally, the “worry-free number” you MUST calculate unless you want to experience zero joy from all the wealth you’ve built. Hard-hitting stuff, right?
Thanks for sticking around with us for 500 episodes of the “BiggerPockets Money” show. We could not have made this podcast happen without you, and we’re looking forward to hearing from and potentially even featuring YOU on an upcoming episode!

Loved this episode! Kailyn should absolutely be a regular co-host on the Money podcast, she shouldn't just be behind the scenes.

20 yrs ago We literally lived on bacon and egg fried rice, lentils and beans for 2 years 11months. Only free entertainment, no vacation to pay off our 10yr mortgage. Our first step to financial independence.

Best advice for FIRE is stop focusing all your efforts on saving and start focusing on making more money. We did that and reached FIRE at ages 28.

Worry-free number is a great concept to bring to our attention, and I'll bet it's something MANY folks who've made it still need to get over. We are working on it, and we know folks with MANY more millions than us still working on it too. Don't sweat the small stuff, right?

    I owned a 93 Geo Tracker
Because it was a softtop I could never get the interior temp above 60F during the wintertime in a Northern New England State
With 0 repairs, low-maintenance and 30mpg I absolutely loved that Tracker
My kids hated it because they always complained about the cold back seat

Beans and rice are a staple in my diet. It’s not because they are cheap, it’s because beans and organic brown rice are full of nutrients. Sometimes I add tons of cilantro and pico de gallo, with a good hot sauce or some soy chorizo. it’s basically a taco salad and I add my Romain lettuce, tomatoes, onions. Yum 🤤 I recently got a 25 pound bag of black beans for $17 at Costco. What a deal.

The interesting behavior on this podcast is comparing yourself to others and how you're better because you don't spend money on "frivolous" things. While it's true in some way, it's limited in long term views. Increase your income that's the most important thing.

Interesting thing on your comment is how it makes you feel better about yourself by putting others down.

Plenty of people earning six figures who live paycheck to paycheck. Step 1 is developing the discipline to save and invest. Step 2 is then increasing your income. Step 2 will only lead you to larger loans and bigger debts if you haven't completed step 1!

@@missmaryjanegreen you should watch the Ramit Sethi podcast they did. There is a lot to say about building a personality centered about things you do better than the others in the FIRE community. Somehow most of the bigger pockets podcasts are about saying how fool people are of doing y x or z with their money. Funny mindset.
