    scorpac:
    Hey Cap, I've just watched a video from you, about DCS. I had the same issue as you, where TackView only generates 1kb files. Yesterday i managed to fix the problem and now everything works nicely. The Video was a bit older but you may give it a try if you didn't already fix it by yourself.
    Step 1: Uninstall Tacview
    Step 2: Go to Saved Games folder -> DCS -> Scripts -> Delete "Export.lua and TacviewGameExport.lua"
    Step 3: Reinstall Tacview
    Step 4: Start Tacview and set the settings for the ASCM files... The folder where it saves to
    Step 5: Start DCS and go to the Special Options and select whatever you want for Tacview
    Step 6: Do a quick offline mission and check if it will be saved.

      There is also a setting to reload LUA's so you don't have to uninstall/reinstall. Your method is probably easiest for those not familiar with computers however...

    Try this to resolve the 1K file, the Tacview export line in the Export.Lua file in your DCS saved games folder must be the very last line in the file, if you have exported MFD's or use Vaicom then these lines may have been put in after the tacview one and will give you the 1K file. Simply cut and paste to put it at the end and it should work fine, this corrected my problem immediately. If for some reason it stops again go back and check to see whether it is still at the last line e.g. after a DCS update. Hope this works for some of you

    Tacview not exporting data almost always is caused by a faulty Export.lua file (the one in the users home dir, Scripts folder).
    Either repair that yourself or simply reinstall Tavcview. When I switched to Tacview beta release for whatever reason Export.lua wasn't properly updated, resulting in empty acmi files.
    Oh, and obviously data export needs to be enabled in DCS und Tacview settings :-)

  • @Nanne118
    @Nanne118 5 лет назад +3

    CAP, to your regard of the tacview file not populating. Ensure that you do not quit out of the server immidiately from flight, but return to the role select screen and give it some time to finish writing the data. Note that in your tacview settings there is an option called 'profiling period', default set to 10 minutes: if you thus quit out before this it causes all manner of weird stuff. You could try lowering it to a more frequent interval, see if that works for you.
    At 3:35 the seperate file for each client is really useful for when you are hosting a server. This lets everyone download their own flight file from the server later on, rather than expect everyone to download the entire server uptime file with dozens of clients. Similarly to the playback setting this can also be used to good extent to prevent people from using (real-time) data to cheat and intercept other players via the data export.
    Object Data is indeed the planes and the missiles, Sensor data is indeed the Radar and TGP stuff, but Client data is stuff about your own aircraft like the radio settings, AOA, roll, bank, etcetera. For good tacview operation you will want all 3 of them: if the field is blank or says 'Yes' your are good, it is only a problem if it says 'no' (strictly prohibited). 'Yes' obviously allows it, whilst '{blank}' refers to the default / user settings AFAIK.
    Overall a nice video detailing TacView and why it is so incredibly useful not only as a debrief FREE!! tool, but also to gradually better yourself as a pilot by reviewing your actions and learning from them! :)

    The TacView fix is pretty simple:
    1. Look at your DCS log in C:\Users\{Username}\Saved Games\DCS\Logs
    2. Search for (Replacing Username for your username ) "Can't execute Lua file"
    Note: You'll find something like a :35 at the end of that error which is the line number where the error is occurring. Whatever is at that line number (In the file C:\Users\{Username}\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\Export.lua) is likely preventing the export script from running thus not exporting to TacView.
    3. Open Export.lua, find the line mentioned in the error and remove it. Be sure to backup your Export.lua file first!
    Note: I found that the line "os.setlocale("ISO-8559-1", "numeric")" was causing my issue.

    The F-117 is in DCS.
    Can you please do a night time CAP mission against an AI flight of F-117's, feel free to enable NVG's for all planes, and maybe add some B-2's. Varying flight profiles with unknown targets, would be counter force except there are no V-1's or V-2's in the WW2 pack yet.

    If you play back the mission in DCS replay feature it should populate all the data you're missing. It creates the Tacview file when you run the replay. For longer replays, change the video settings and screen resolution to low and you should be able to run at high time compression without issue.

    idk if i'm doing this right, but, i downloaded it, and it downloaded, and works, but when i play DCS, and go into settings, and allow it to record data in dcs, and start either a single player or multiplayer match (i tried both) when i exit out, and go to Tac view and follow the steps, going to DCS then Tracks and etc. I don't see any of the tracks.. any fix?
    Edit:
    Alright, i figured it out, the reason why i couldn't find my Track files, soo the track files were somehow being uploaded to my documents file, instead of the multiplayer file, how i figured this out, and this might help others too; I went to my files, then went to the search bar, and typed in "Tacview" a few files came up, including my track files, so I right clicked the track file and pressed "open file location", and found where it was, then navigated to the files through the "open" on Tacview. - Hope that made sense!

    Have you thought about maybe it doesn't work for you because your game directory is on D drive and your saved games is on C drive? maybe that's why it's not populating and recording anything because your directories are two different places. I don't know I just popped into my head.... also another thought about the one KB. you said it's a 10-minute delay right? Well you didnt even fly around for one whole minutes. so with the 10-minute delay you didn't give it enough time to record anything maybe?

    I have the exact same issue, TacView just WONT WORK. I tried everything; it worked a couple of months back, but it decided not to work anymore. Trust me when I say I tried everything.. I spent hours and hours watching youtube videos, reading forums, contacting them, modifying lua files and folder locations.. I reinstalled it twice as well (once normally and the second time completely without leaving a trace of it before reinstalling it).. literally everything apart from reinstalling DCS (but hell no, that's more than 80GBs..).. So yes, I have the same issue whatever that is as you Grim Reapers.. On my PC it just doesn't work anymore (although it used to). It's so damn frustrating. argh..

    • @KevinS47
      @KevinS47 5 лет назад +3

      Right as I make this comment, after days of struggle, I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK.
      First thing first, I downloaded the new export lua file from the tacview webpage: www.tacview.net/download/TacviewExportDCS.lua
      Copy all of that text, and substitute it for the text in the original TacviewExportDCS.lua file located in "users\your_username\savedgames\DCS\Scripts.
      Now I don't know if this is what fixed the issue, because the next thing I did was to go through the whole damn DCS log file to find out that Tacview was exporting it's files to a different folder than the default one; it's under users\your_username\documents\Tacview (this folder doesn't exist by default, so you have to create it yourself, or tacview will automatically save the file in the documents folder); which explains why I could never find any recorder data or ACMI files... was searching in the wrong place.
      This program could certainly need some optimization huh.
