If anybody just wants to see where they bank the max, it's during the second round at 14:27 when they bank it. I suggest starting at the beginning of the second round. It's at 12:14. Just thought some people would like to know this.
Thank you so much! I'm really impressed when team hits the target prize. Their strategy may be inefficient, but a round that requires a chain of 9 correct answers is miles harder than versions that only requires a chain of 6 correct answers as giving the wrong answer would cost them too much.
I used to watch the UK version and the only issue (in my opinion) was the fact the prize money was so low - looks like the Aussies has the right idea!!
I myself would only feel bad for the person if they were a strongest link, or if the team reached and banked their target within the time limit. In that instance, how could there be a weakest link after a perfect round?
This must have been a VERY early episode of The Weakest Link. Jacob returned for the 'Best of The Best' edition & Brett returned for the 'Worst Looser' edition. They began editing the theme tune early on in this series too. If you listen closely, it's shorter than the original used in the UK version of The Weakest Link. I'm not sure but I believe that the only reason why there are two sets of stairs behind the team with no seats for an audience must mean that Channel 7 ran out of time to complete the set. The original 'Bank Target' sound was used in this episode. In other episodes, the 'Time Up' sting is used instead. They also did not light the ring above the set up in lights when the team banked the target like they have in later episodes. I had all but the Pilot Episode of Series One & the entire Series Two on VHS when I was younger, even recording repeats. I wish I had kept them now...I had all the Special Editions. I still remember the final episode which aired Monday April 22nd, 2002. I was devastated...
Also very similar to what they do on the Chaser's Final Chase on The Chase Australia. Instead of the 'caught' theme from the individual chase (and as a matter of fact the Final Chase on the UK version), once the Chaser reaches the target the "time's up" and "victory" sounds are used instead as if the team won.
Rip Cornelia Francis I liked our version even though she was no Anne Robinson she brought some charm to this show I was sad after like one or 2 seasons of the weakest link they cancelled it I liked this show :)
Lol, I entered one of the quiz groups to try to get on his show :). Only got two questions wrong, so got close to get past the first stage. Was like 30 questions to answer on paper.
If I still had all my VHS recordings of Australia's Weakest Link, I would have uploaded an episode where a contestant threw their voting board across the set! Another episode had a contestant singing at Cornelia as she took The Walk of Shame. There was also another furious contestant that slammed their voting board down onto the podium as he was about to take The Walk of Shame & another female was annoyed so she just dropped her voting board on the floor.
Omg this show was the best. I was disappointed they cancelled because my dad was selected to be on it just before it finished. Cornelia Frances was really good and entertaining. Made my night
Wow, that team did better than any team on the U.S. version and all but one team on the UK version (the quiz champions team being the exception). Most of it is that ALL of the questions on this version are easy and there were no hard ones thrown in to minimize the risk of multiple perfect rounds like there were on the US and UK versions.
All hosts of this show in Australia (Cornelia Frances), UK (Anne Robinson) and South Africa (Fiona Coyne) had one thing common; Red Heads. Unfortunately Cornelia and Fiona have since passed on. RIP
That's so weird, just before I watched this about an hour ago, I looked up Cornelia and it said that she was born on 7th April 1941, and today is 7th April 2021 in the UK, meaning that she would've been 80 today if she was still alive.
Jacob appears on the Strongest Links special and makes it to the final round. Unfortunately it's unknown if he won. The episode's on RUclips but cuts out near the end.
Both Weakest Link and Dog Eat Dog did their best to be hits in Australia as they were in Britain. The next BBC game show that should come to Australia would have to be Pointless because like with the other two, it has been exported to other countries and Australia would definitely be a good one to bring that show to. Those three are pretty much the only BBC shows since 2000 that have been exported to other countries around the world.
Tomek FM £7,750 out of £10,000, quiz show champions edition, and the only UK episode when the £1000 target was reached in round 8 (and then trebled to make £3000)
I wonder how many people realize that "Goodbye" is short for "God be with you." Think about it for a moment. "You are the Weakest Link. God be with you". Doesn't sound as nasty does it?
It would have been better if the host talked to each person like Anne did on the UK version. She would talk to a particular player for about 1-2 minutes at the end of each round. The banter was the best part of the show.
+hakc97again True. And what's with the winner walking away with $56,000?! In the UK version, the winning contestant would typically win around 5,000 pounds.
Youcanonacanon I guess that the networks could afford to give bigger cash prizes. Daytime quizzes in the UK have never really given away large amounts of money
It's because The Weakest Link is on the BBC which is funded by license payers money so it can't afford to shell it a huge cash prize unlike ITV which is commercial and therefore can pump more money into their entertainment shows. In fact back in 2000, when the show went out on prime-time for a £20,000 top prize it was considered controversial that they were giving out that much.
Im vision impaired. What colour is the little indicator light that moves up and down and tells you how much a question is worth and also the digits on the countdown clock?
I’m watching this in February 2020… Very interesting to see Australian version of this show… Australian accents are much easier to understand than Americans… Only criticism is far too many adverts… However many thanks for posting
this is one of the best teams ive seen on any weakest link $56,000 dollars is over half the prize money i find the host harsh even when they get a good amount at the end of the round she is still unhappy with them unless they get the target and i thought Anne was harsh amazing show
Cornelia Francis isn't nearly as scary as I thought she was. Watching Prisoner CBH reruns recently and saw Cornelia play a lawyer. She was absolutely sunningly beautiful and very regal looking. Her acting was excellent.
Besides her most known role as Morag in earlier episodes of Home & Away, Cornelia has also appeared in The Young Doctors and had a guest role in Kingswood Country as Dr. Hemmingway - she hits Ted Bullpitt on the head with a (reflex testing) hammer in one scene - he asks "what was that for?" she replies "that Mr. Bullpitt was for free!" - along with her other acting roles as well as host of the short-lived Aussie Weakest Link - she will be missed. R.I.P.
OMG! How did he miss that question? I guarantee you, every person older than 6 laughed at that. I would've. I knew the abbreviations for road, street and avenue at 5 years old.
omg... lol... was thinking... "well...she's way over on the other side, and it's wasting so much time for You to turn to ask the questions..." when they bumped Rina...
10 in roman numerals is 'X'. Rina must've misheard the question, because Cornelia asked for how many hours contains an X. 9 is IX, 10 is X, 11 is XI, 12 is XII. If you ever find a traditional clock that uses roman numerals, you'll find out that there are 4 hours with X's on it.

I think it's the closest they ever got to that in this version. In the later years of the UK version, they made the questions in round 1 joke questions like the questions to the £1000/$1000 in Who Wants to be a Millionaire so the target was banked in almost every episode at that point.
RIP Cornelia Frances.

In France the show was exactly the same, it's incredible: we had indeed our good Laurence Boccolini as the host

These questions are so easy. It's like round 1 of the UK version every time a link leaves. How they didn't reach the target is beyond me.
Cornelia Frances passed away today. Had to come back and revisit this show again.
Really mate
I used to watch the UK version and the only issue (in my opinion) was the fact the prize money was so low - looks like the Aussies has the right idea!!
Don’t forget, in the UK The Weakest Link is produced by the BBC which is funded through the tv licensing fund. That’s why its prize money is so low.
RIP Cornelia Frances! A huge loss to Australian TV with the loss of an icon.

If you compare Cornelia to Anne in terms of how they look in appearance, they look very much like each other.
Short red hair
