I was in Lincoln the other day when a Dart was refusing to start. An engineer came out, opened the bonnet and it fired right up after he pressed the green button on a control panel.
Most of them have hybrid or regular Cummins engines, but they did have two 98 and 00 novabus models that had Detroit diesel s40 engines, they retired those 2010 throughout 2017, and of course they were my favorite
@@CreRay Apologies, I wrote that comment when I had just started secondary school. I am now a diesel mechanic by trade and thus agree with your correction. Thanks.
Metrobus's Crawley's darts do that as well seems to be a common fault with darts built between 03-05 as all the 06 plated darts in Worthing are fine just seems to be a bad batch of vehicles
georgegreenoshine Really?! I was playing crazy golf around that time! Lol. I had finished when I saw it, we wete driving home and passed it about 30 seconds before the crazy golf course so must have been breaking as I drove past it lol
Why did the driver shut off the engine? If it's a diesel, they can run all night long. The driver of this bus needs to get it to the garage after their shift and the technicians need to fix this one quick...
The darts down my end are 2004-2008 and a 2006 dart, 3 years younger than the one in this video had an even more worser start than the one in this video.
Evening Hefence, it's Foxy speaking and Strongly Excellent video Hefence :-D :-D. It's really really good, plus it's increasingly and perfectly well made I must say :-). I've seen single decker 'Stagecoach' 'Dennis Darts' like these ones in Worthing many many times :-). The last time I saw one of those types of buses was about 2015 :-/. So quite a long time ago :-/. Well long enough having explained so Hefence :-/. Sorry if I sounded rude :-/. My goodness :-O :-). What a funny but challanging start-up for the bus you filmed :-/. Sounded as if there were some drums racketing in parts captured with the buses engine struggling to start :-O :-). Truthfully enough Hefence :-). It must of been an efforting challange for the bus struggling to get a good engine start before running it's bus route service :-/. It must of been some extra annoyancy for the drivers skills in trying to start the bus itself :-/. But thankfully the bus started before your wonderful video came to it's ending :-). Plus I hope the bus driver who was driving the 'Stagecoach' bus you filmed didn't get thundery because of struggling to start the bus he was supposed to drive Hefence :-O :-/ :-). Well I guess it struggled to start due to 'The Big Freeze' wintery conditions Hefence :-/. Because theoretically, engine powered vehicles, no matter what their efficiency or disadvantages, their engines can struggle to start due to the cold temperature on the exact temporary month this sometimes happens in :-/. It's not always right but in theory it is :-). I hope you don't mind me asking but, when are you going to edit and upload your videos of the Brighton Station buses and you film running the rail replacement services Hefence? On the day I we first ever saw eachother? :-). Thinking about that day brings me good magnificence for myself :-). Alright then, have a nice evening Hefence, plus I wish you all the best and stay awesome :-D :-D :-D. From Foxy :-).
Not really, Gillig's have a US Spec interior and are much larger than our UK singles, and the engine would have to be adapted to meet UK emission regulations. The main reason this Dart won't start is that these were only cheap buses, and they often got lots of hard use. Rather than using Gilligs, here we much prefer either Darts or the more reliable Volvo B7/B7RLE. Then again, Gilligs might've worked as the current generation really had gone downhill. New Enviro 200s, and the god awful StreetLite.
Imagine if you are already late for work and this happens to the bus you need to get on to go to work!
Well looks like a day off work
by the time the bus is ready to pick you, its already started
Whoever fitted that new N/S/R corner bumper, forgot to put the reflector on. Bus should not have left the depot like that. :) Nice MOT fail.
Its only 1 reflector I mean you will still see it in the dark.
Good spot
The older 6 cylinder engined ones start up straight away.
True
Starts like a Leyland 0.510 from cold minus the smoke.
those starters on those darts are lethal. The fuel pumps on them are shocking

@@jaggass lol
The high pressure fuel pump?

A lot of these newer Darts have starting issues in Bath we have 05 First ones and some don't always start first time awesome channel I have subbed
Great vid!
Cheers mate
Whatever you do don't switch it off! lol
The starters on the newer darts aren't great. but you can buy the starters from older darts and they are compatible with the newer ones
Starter is just fine as are batteries, hear how fast it's turning over! This is a fuel pressure issue, could also be the fuel system is drawing air

The former Metrobus ones that used to run Route 130 in London did that too. I genuinely don’t like Darts because of this.
Шикарный запуск,только дыма бы по-больше...
Saw this Brocken down in Hastings yesterday! Didn't see what was wrong with it but the engine flap was open D=
Not surprised at all to be honest! What time did you ser it? I saw it about in the morning and again between 2 and 3pm
Must of been about then! I saw it from the crazy golf course
georgegreenoshine Really?! I was playing crazy golf around that time! Lol. I had finished when I saw it, we wete driving home and passed it about 30 seconds before the crazy golf course so must have been breaking as I drove past it lol
What course were you on? I was on the adventure one
K789DAO our KV53 darts are actually quite good so EZM must be the worst of the batch
I’m almost 10 years old and I have been riding Gilligs pretty much every weekend of my life and I have never been on one that has broken down
I would probably have to rush to the washroom.. ; )
Haaa Me too m8. That was a good crank wasn't it
yeah, absolutely!
ruclips.net/video/uFCRH9DAz_g/видео.html I did one better
Lol why you say that
Brill vid!
New title DENIS dart fails to start
TRAIN SPOTTING it did start so what’s your point?
That is at Conquest Hospital.
Mabey Bros how do you know
This was a decent vehicle in Bedford, wonder what happened to her. she don't sound well
she's got a lot better now, she starts fine and sounds brilliant, along with the loud diff its now got a nice whistly turbo too :)

Saves fuel perhaps it sat for a while before back in use again
If it’s particularly cold out, diesels struggle to start in general. This just seems like a typical cold start

At last the old dart finally gets started again

???
Thats just ridiculous, all of ours does the exact same.
Lol, our Solo's our especially bad when it come to this
Seems Bedford and Peterborough have sent us the dud ones lol
Possibly the fuel pump injectors? Lots of our solos do that but not to that extent!
I wouldn't know, but our Solo's are notorious for doing it!
You guys in England need some Gillig buses like we have in the Charlotte area transit system

nah your buses r shit.
That has a bopin tune
I think the battery decided to kill itself
Should buy Ikarus!
Hmmmmm, an engine cranking sound but not starting? That's a sound I prefer to associate to the StreetLites
:)
And Swedish CNG powered buses, lol :)
I've seen 6-cylinder Euro 2 Darts start up better - no struggles.
0:51
pump it
Двигатель бензиновый или дизель?
Looks like this old dart is not having any of it the way it’s not starting up
Да уж,обороты стартера просто порвали двигатель,сумасшедший старт двигателя!
Thicc 😂
oh sweet jesus use ya foot man
1:07. bus wants to die
ha ha ha
This bus broke down on purpose
I love that cranking sound!
