This is one of my favorite figures to this day. If anything, the crazy body proportions just made me love it more, because it looks so badass. Usually, I would find this sort of shape unimpressive, but I think they pulled it off with this guy.
Rodimus is one of my favorite figures of all time. I love the figure and the character!
Those "spurs" are only used in his combined mode when he forms the bottom part of a super bot.
Personally, I like him. But I like Semi based TFs.
You want to see goofy? Transform him into the upper half mode and combine him with Energon Ironhide...talk about WTF!? Or even make him the lower half and you have yourself a serious ape looking bot thing.
Really like the unedited reviews Paul. Would like to see a few more every once in a while. Captures your true excitement which is always good.

I have the black and white SWAT version of this guy. It came in a twin pack with Prowl and I think this is where the figure really shines. Their combined modes look great with the cohesive black and white colors
I gotta say, this was very entertaining video. Awesome review man.
The "Heal Spur" is for when he combines with any of the other deluxe energon combiners. They become the "wings" on his combiner fists. I used to own the full line of Armada/Energon line. but the figures for this line that have the same color combiner symbol can either become the top half of the combiner or the bottom half. they actually look quite impressive as combiners. In my honest opinion. thanks for the review.
optibotimus should never edit again. this was his best video ever

Yay!!!! A retro review. Fun stuff. I like these.
Rodimus in Energon is way different than you think. He debuted along with Landmine & Prowl. The symbol is called the Spark of Combination, meaning he can powerlink with Hot Shot, Inferno, Downshift, Prowl, or any of the others with the same gimmick. He is voiced by Paul Dobson. Meaning he has a deep voice. He debuts in Episode 11 titled The Legend of Rodimus if you want to know a little more about him, although it isn't till the episode Kicker Beware! that we see him speak I believe.
His alt mode alone put him on my "most wanted" transformers list
This guy was awesome in the show. In the dub he sounded like Michael Dorn.
Armada is my personal favorite just because it was the show I watched everyday after high school.

Recently customized mine! Just used a silver paint pen on the exhaust pipes from the smoke stacks.
This is pretty much how he looked in the show to be honest.
All of the Energon figures that combine have to have massive feet to work at pants. It's kind of a shame you don't have anything to combine him with. If you're ever curious about a combining pair that works very well, I personally suggest Voyagers Jetfire and Ironhide as torso and pants respectively. Ironhide's head assembly and front doors can all be popped off, to get rid of excess kibble. Also, Dotm HA Whirl works as a pretty nice BFG for them, if you want to go that route.

Pretty sure thats for the Powerlinx Gimmick, Rodimus can become Top or Bottom Half of a combined Robot Form with other Transformers that have the same Sigil that he has
Combined with Inferno looks BADMFKINGASS.
the little symbol on the side of the vehicle mode is an autobot logo ant that is where you put an energon crystal
I really enjoyed this uncut stuff, more down to earth. I enjoy the whole triology, Armada got me into Transformers, but I think Energon is the best one probably, although the lore in Cybertron is wicked. Armada is alright.
It's Takara Superlink version of Hasbro Energon Rodimus, evident from the "flames" on the spoiler and deeper red. And that's a spark crystal, one of the gimmicks of the Energon series where you can place a "energon star" from the Omnicrons. As for the combining gimmick, all the autobots had this "combination spark" which allowed them to combine in a torso + legs fashion. And here's agreeing totally with you regarding the wonky robot proportions!
True.... and I wont lie that theme song is frikin catchy.
In the Unicorn trilogy, Energon was my favourite, then Armada, then Cybertron.
I think Energon had better characterisation, and did best with only having one important human.
It just dawned on me, you don't have Energon Rodimus, it's the better painted Japanese Superlink version. Props.
Admittedly, I got this figure based solely on the name.
This video was turely a voyage of discovery.
I wouldn't say his robot mode sucks, just that it's proportioned weirdly. And the vehicle looks awesome! :D
Unfortunately, they don't mention what happened to pretty much any of the Armada Autobots save for Optimus and Hot Shot. I guess we're supposed to assume they're back on Cybertron.
oh this brings me back to the days when i had that guy.
I like his shoulders like that tho' because when I'm playing with him I picture those four tires as spinning chainguns that fire photon charges out of the bolt holes in the hubcaps.
I believe it is the autobot Powerlinx symbol, the one in the odd chrome buble thing is just your everyday logo, typlically an "energon chip" (piece of red or green plastic) would stick on top of it.... I understand that you probably don't care but I figured i'd let you know anyway :)
The autobot symbol means it can power lynx (combine) with other energon transformers.
U should go unedited much more often, it let's out your inner awesome power of randomness lol
You have the Takara version since it has the flame deco on the spoiler, which was omitted from the Hasbro release.
WOAH actually thats SUPERLINK Rodimus. o_o you can tell from the flames on the spoiler, the american release doesnt have that paint app.
And those things on his feet are supposed to be for the combined mode by the way

from what i remeber of energon rodimus was the original autobot leader and disappeared one day then prime came leader
These figures can combine with more than one figure, so you can customize sorta.

That doesn't change the fact the Unicron Trilogy is still worse than every other transformers series on North American shores except RID.

This was the first transformer figure i ever got.
interestingly enough, rodimus in the energon cartoon is COMPLETELY OPPOSITE to hot rod from g1. hot rod was reckless, bold, and kinda hot-headed (no pun intended) whereas the energon rodimus was alot like prime, no laugh, no play, straighforward get the job done, and is just plain serious. strange when they twist personalities..
I have this toy and together with Optimus Prime they can combine.

haha! Funny you picked him. He was my first (and only) review and it was a joke. I really am not a fan of this guy. I didn't know he combined with Prowl though. That would explain the weeble wobble feets.

its energon the tail symbols are plug ins for energon stars so it is energon series
? i have the rodimus but he has no detailing of flames on the back part
Nice review. I like the energon deluxes but I hated em because certain modes suffered because of the whole combining gimmick. Rodimus's robot is ok, but he is a better pair of pants, then he is upper torso when he combines. I think I am bout to break this guy out now lol.
rescue bots is made for toddlers so it gets a pass, animated is awesome so it's near the top

WhenI was little I gat two of these.
Looks normal for Energon and Armada figures. A lot of them are badly proportioned and look better when combined with other figures for new arms/legs/chestplates/whatever.

This toy was from china (well not this one) but he was all gold and was in a united states transformers comic book had the drawling for the toy but later they produce ones like optibotimus has

Also, my Rodimus doesn't have paint on his spoiler...
And he is still far superior to some RiD figures, and in my opinion, some of the FoC figures.
