The first season was meant to be 9 episodes, but it was cut short because of the last writer's strike, which is why the season doesn't so much end as it does just . . . stop.

Both Skylar and Marie have extremely intense personalities. The kind that makes them naturally prone to some very *Karenesque* type of behavior. I feel like Marie really has no control over herself though whereas Sky can actually intentionally use it at times to get what she wants out of a situation. That level of self awareness is the main difference between the two imho. The actor that played Tuco said that this role put him in a very dark headspace because he channeled some real life personalities from his past. Sounds horrible honestly. Me being from a whole different kind of hood that what he's from (I'm assuming), but it being the hood nonetheless, plus unnecessarily getting myself involved in things I had no business being involved in when I was younger, I've known a couple drugged up sociopaths unfortunately. So there's always that weird fine line of having to project that dumbass "alpha" bs that's respected in the lifestyle while *also* walking on eggshells at the same time. Oftentimes leads to a level of paranoia that will result in young men and women from the hood having PTSD before they're 25 even. The plan is to keep my kids as far away from that as possible.
Marie and Hank both have arcs where they are acutely in denial about something (now for Marie later for Hank). It feels like it parallels Walt telling himself and everyone else it's all for his family. Good point the thing that makes Skyler more "culpable" is her self-aware exploitation of her privilege.
Do ya'll have a background in chemistry or something? I've watched a ton of reactions to this show, and I've never seen discuss the potential chemical compositions being used haha
Knew these two would get a good giggle outta the barrel shuffle walt and jesse do past the security guard trapped in the portapotty, great framework and acting just missing the benny hill soundtrack and laughtrack.
Public place for safety is what Jesse is thinking but private place so they don't get caught is what Walter is thinking cuz how can they pass over pounds of meth without being seen lol
The placebo effect is real. Medicine can give you a leg up, but it's still your body that needs to do the healing. Convincing your body that it can be and is being healed can have a huge multiplying effect on your medical treatments. Hell, they've done studies where they TOLD the participants that what they were getting was a placebo and has no proven effects, and still saw significant improvements. The mind-body connection is... kinda wild.
What happens is people make drugs, so they outlaw the chemical components of it, or blacklist it. Then people go further down the chain to what makes those components and use that, etc.. etc.. but eventually you reach a point where you can't blacklist something because it is so commonly used, the main "ingredient" used in meth is a byproduct of industry and is very hard to obtain, so about 3-4 links down you reach an easy to get component (cold medicine) which you can extract from. They're making "biker meth" which uses one of those biproducts of industry though and skips a lot of the steps, they only have to strip it down to methyl and add amphetamine. It also wouldn't really be blue, no meth would be, that's purely for the show.
The thing with meth is they keep banning the chemicals to make it so you have to use other chemicals to synthesize those chemicals and its like 3 or 4 degrees of separation
These girls crack me up.. lmao.. "meth is so crazzzyyy omg like how do they functionnnn" ..one turns to the other, "pst. I forgot my adderall script.. did you bring yours?" C'mon, that was a joke,
