Walt exonerated Skyler by this phone call, he took all the blame on himself. He is literally on the verge of tears when talking about Hank and lost $80 million trying to save his life. He didnt mean a word he said on the phone, he just knew this was the only way to save Skyler and Walt Jr for his sins. Such a powerful scene….
How dense are these people? 😂. Even Skyler, who's going through it, realizes what Walt is doing. Well, to be fair at least some of them pick up on it near the end. The girl in blue needed it spelt out for her.
A lot of people need stuff spelt out, you can even see that for these people every relationship has to be only praise and stuff, complex stuff isn't really their thing.

Agreed. On my end I push it to the point that I don't even think he's fundamentally bad. He was a broken man that was getting no respect from nobody, that was treated as a weak man. When he learnt about his cancer the very first time, nobody gave a damn about what he wanted. He started eveything out of good heart and as much as he kept going he finally found a sense of control over his life, he keeps saying it all along the show when things start to get hot: "I got this, everything is going to be fine..." Even with Hank he still thinks he can sort things out... Walt has always been a loving family man surrounded by people that never left him any rooms to express who he really is and trusted him for being the man. His answer too all this was being selfish in his decisions still with the aim to provide for his family even if hus path was delusional. I'll always like Walt, he tried to be a hero and became one of the best anti-hero thanks to himself and totally supported by the judgment, hatred and disbelief of his family.
@@silverb4ck192 I was agreeing with everything you said right up until you put some of the blame for how he behaved on other people. Walt is a grown man and has his own agency. This scene is so subtle, it trusts the audience to pick up on the little inconsistencies. I wonder if the reason so many reactors fail to pick up on what's happening is because they HAVE to react. It's their one job, they can't just sit there silent. But if you talk over the wrong parts, you'll miss some of the clues. None of what he said makes sense, and he knows that. The audience is supposed to know it too. When you're silently watching this scene by yourself it's so obvious. But if your job is to describe your feelings as you watch, that might be JUST enough distraction to not see what's actually happening in this brilliantly subtle scene.
I personally consider this to be the greatest scene of the show. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me and that’s okay they have their own opinions just as long as they’re respectful. I consider this the greatest scene just purely by how insanely realistic Bryan Cranston’s acting is. I felt like he was about to have an actual breakdown when he mentioned Hank. Trying to act like the evil, ruthless Heisenberg when he’s actually showing a lot of vulnerability is some of the best acting I’ve seen in my life.
>Trying to act like the evil, ruthless Heisenberg Why act, he just was Heisenberg. At the end, two faces - Walter and Heisenberg - turn into one, at least in my view.
Amazing how stupid these viewers are that they have no idea what Walt is doing in this scene. He isn't gaslighting, he isn't having a psychotic break. He's saving his family. He knows the police are there and he's spinning a yarn to make it look like his family, especially Skylar, was completely innocent in everything and was just his hostage rather than his accomplice which is what she had become.
this is why i’ll never make a reaction video on my first viewing of anything. people were so focused on saying what they were thinking, they missed what was happening. i think only the lady on the top left and top right figured it out. the lady on the bottom left just sucks at this. i felt like she was reliving the time her ex yelled at her for calling the cops on his meth empire.

Brandon mumbled a lot and took focus away from the scene and he didn't seem to pick up on it either. And I still can't figure out how either. There were so many signs hinting that Walt was trying to take the blame for everything.
