Great video, very comprehensive. I’ve just received my microSD and I’ve noticed at 3:32 where “Sandisk” in red is there’s a slightly indented “Sandisk” pressed into the cardboard itself (can be seen under bright light or felt via touch). Also I don’t know if it’s just Australian stock but my Sandisk had the SD adaptor is stuck on the outside of the package in a separate clear case using sticky-glue. My packaging says “Made in Malaysia” - the back of my microSD 5:06 looks exactly the same (including the slightly raised rectangle) except it was made in Malaysia, not China. Hope this additional info helps.
I’m sorry to heard that, if you are able to return your should do it , otherwise it is better that you get another one , fake memory cards tend to become corrupt
The packaging was well sealed just like you described, the plastic inside has engraving, and there are no imperfections or misprints on the cardboard, but I have two problems. Everything seems legit except it says that its made in Taiwan and there was no plastic film that keeps the card in place.
With no plastic sealing it's most probably fake. I've bought recently 128GB, tested in HD Tune and it had horrible transfer 17MB/s if i remember right, after half of the card it dropped to 2.9MB/s. Had no foil sealing. Returned to seller (he refunded very fast, gg :) ) Bought another card from other shop, it had bigger packaging (!) and that protective foil. It was legit. Transfer ~70mb/s.
@@simbathelion123 Yes, you can order online, but sometimes you have to pay for delivery so if you get free delivery and you can wait for it then is good to buy it directly from the manufacturer 👍🙂
The most important part of knowing if fake or original is from behind it should be showing up on the interior back, made in Taiwan as well Throw it away at once
Your vid is informative, but it's gen key points like spelling mistakes, printing and package finishing. But what if Fraudster is wise enough to correct them. Pls give info how can we check instantly its durability by using our device/any software. I have a memory card -32gb Samsung EVO , I didn't find a clue to say it fake but it's not working as expected (now it's stopped working, I couldn't use this least a year) and when I contacted to its seller it denied for any assistance to avail warranty benefit. Legal procedures are time taking.
Hello, your English accent feels like Russian, and by name looks like Indian and in your about section of channel it's written Canada. Well, from where are you ❓
if I'm buying online, i always buy from sandisk official store. doesn't matter how cheap other store is, there's just too many fake sellers online. I'd rather pay $5-$10 extra than wasting more buying a fake
SD cards can trick Windows explorer so I advise to download a usb/SD card software that can check the real capacity I've seen this before it won't hurt comparing it to losing your precious files
Hi Tracy Amor, sorry to hear that, Yes, this is what happened with fake ones, usually a good memory lasts over 5 years depending on the use, so it's better to get it from stores like Best Buy, staples etc.
dang i bought it fake..... my 1st 32 gb sdcard that i bought on the store in my place was around 6.36$ ,i checked the carton, the printing/the micro sd and the adapter was inplaced very the same as the original and yes its made in china than my 1024gb(1tb) sd card that i bought online at 6.96$ with freebies...and when it arrived it has no sandisk carton on it ,it only have the freebies then the sd card/adapter on it and the transparent case was so different and it says made in taiwan even the seller was from china , rip me...and yeh... it copies so slow when it comes to bulky copying of files to transfer some files also... sadge
Incorrect. For a while until the 256gb version came out in 2016, the 200gb was SanDisk's largest consumer-grade microSD card. I don't know if they are still being manufactured (I kind of doubt it) but they are still quite prevalent as new-old stock and are listed on Western Digital's website (SD being a WD brand).
Yes Walmart sells original products as well, just be careful online if you get it from a third party seller , not all are fake but some third party sellers are selling fake ones
Check the packaging, if is not seal , inconsistent printing and those things I mentioned in the videos and if it looks cheap packaging most likely is fake
The company currently has manufacturing facilities at Taiwan, Japan, China, UK, Israel, Ireland and Spain. However you need to look for other things like the packaging, price etc. As well as where you buy, NOT authorized sellers are higher risk.

Could be a different version for Australia, like cars , but as long as you get it from a genuine store then it should be good 👍
This video was extremely helpful! Unfortunately the microSD card I recently bought seems to be a fake :'(

Thank you, be careful with third party sellers , they usually sells fake
Your title is missing "if it" thus: "How to know if it is fake"
Thank you for making me aware of this.
Your are welcome sorry for my late reply
Jay Yankee you saved me I have just cancelled my order. For the same card but for 64 gb
I’m glad you did, in this case is better to get it from a store that sells original products then from sellers online
@@jayyankee or we can buy it online , but from original manufacturer store like eg. Sandisk official

Is very common to see those issues with fake SD cards, you also have the risk of losing your files because eventually it fails to read your data
Thanks
Now I know what I should buy
You are welcome 👍🏻
Go to Best Buy, staples , or any other location that have the same level of trust 👍🙂
Thanks

200gb isn't a standard denomination. If it's not 32gb, 64gb, 128gb, 512gb, 400gb, or 1tb, then it's fake.
Thank you for your comment 👍, but even if is a 32gb, 64gb etc … , you still have to look for those signs I mentioned 🙂
