  • Few years ago I made quite a lot of these and I'll do another video but different interpretation of this design.....
    Its fun thing to turn on the lathe but be carefull for those spining wings.

    I really like the winged bowls the 1st time I saw one made I was like that's weird but they have grown on me. Very nice job

    Gorgeous piece of wood tommi. As always a great instructional video. Thanks for sharing.
    When I do squarish bowls I leave the 4 sides as natural as the timber is especially those with natural edges. I turn the wing into part of the bowl and don’t have it as a hard interaction to the bowl, my wife and I prefer this as do those that buy my work.
    However I do still like the simplistic design of your bowl, and occasionally will do these .

    Sapele is really beautiful wood and that bowl really sets it off nicely. Appreciated seeing your design process for the top. Looks like a fun future project.

    A very beautiful square bowl! Expertly done! There are two interesting square bowls in Richard Ruff's book on "The Art of turned bowls" on page 96. Could you show me in the video how they can be made. It would be very interesting!

      Not sure what you mean by that.... I've been using this kind of sander for years, gets the job done nice and quick...., I probably didn't understand the question, sorry about that 😀

      Probably my mistake. In this video it looks as though you are using a right-angle drill whereas in some older videos where you power sand it looked to me as though you were using a regular drill. This one looked nice and shiny to me too, as if it were brand new.@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning
