I did not use heat to stretch my hair however my hair was in 2 big cornrows for some days, and I made a style with cornrows before recording this video I guess that added to the stretch my hair had. Whenever I style my hair like this I can take it for about 4-5 days being that I cover it with a scarf when I sleep and making sure I do not scratch my hair a lot to avoid messing it.
I may not be able to give the best reply, but you can make the twist towards the middle of your hair and brush your hair line so you don't put so much strain on your hairline.
