Can’t believe how far you have both come from living in the bus! I remember Katie editing in the bus & living in the bus dreaming of moving into the house! To think … you’re adding to the house after so many other structures added to the homestead! Beyond thrilled for you both🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Swaying fir trees and chickens with chicks is a great way to open this video. Katie, it is nice you have a good adjustable desk to help your back. Greg, you are a skilled craftsman. Blessings to you folks.
Wow the porch is really moving on. I didn’t know that about the goats, learn something every day thanks Katie. Steve has grown so much but he is still so cute x
@@michaelchamberlain4618 yes that way they could have used any heat from the house wood stove to help keep the lines from freezing. Even keeping the washing machine in that separated room may cause problems as I do not know if the water drains completely from the machine ! Good luck to them though as they are trying hard and getting things done .
I know everyone hates this type of comment but it’s really meant to help. Your Y fittings need to be replaced with Tee fittings because the Y fitting break the trap seal. Love the work ethic 😊
I love the that you used the laser level for the reference to drill holes in line. That never occurred to me and I love it. Great tip. That’s why it’s worth it to watch people pull wire😂
You both are doing a doing a great job! I look forward to each of your videos. We built an almost off grid property a couple years ago. We are only connected to the power grid, but we did all of the ground work to get to the transformer 780 feet away, all the power company did was use our feeder rope to pull wire. I'm still trying to convince my husband into chickens. I have a veggie garden, food forest and other edibles throughout or property. I dream of being as remote and independent as you are.
Katie and Greg you two absolutely amaze the heck out of me you are two of the best construction workers ever. God bless you and your animal and fowl families
Always concerned about plumbing in an exterior wall. In northern USA we double 2X4 the wall. Insulation in the exterior 2X4 cavity and the plumbing and more insulation in the interior 2x4 cavity.
Greag , We fast forward thru the work , we love seeing your beautiful outdoors especially field trips to get water , swimming , mountain roads , clean water , white Snow . You get It , yea ? 💙💙💙
I look at it as having a friend and they tell the same story all the time. If you are a friend you listen and get excited with the story. ThT is friendship. I still find it interesting to watch you complete your projects.
You guys remind me of Home Time in the 80's and 90's showing people how to do what nots in their homes. I learn from what you do and mistakes for out off grid living.
I like how you put a loop of extra wire at the boxes in the wall. I haven't seen that done before. I did that myself in an addition on my old house about 45 years ago. That is a good looking desk. I'll be checking it out. Good work, going fast now. Take care, jack
Make the Air Admittance Valve accessible. Sometimes the spring inside gets stuck and the valve will let gas into your house. You may even need to replace the valve at some time.
Thank you Greg and Katie, your off grid channel and videos are the best. i've been a subscriber and have watched all your videos since your bus days. You guys truly live off grid and have the best video content. Thank you Katie for all the time and effort you put into your channel and videos, it's greatly appreciated. Stay safe and best wishes going forward from Wisconsin.🍀💯
William, we have have huge news we cant share for a while yet. i cant wait to let you know our plans. Its going to be taking off grid to the next level.
Warning! When you put exterior siding on you will most likely hit your wiring. Measure now and mark it outside to avoid having to redo your wiring. Otherwise move the wiring to the center of all studs.
Greg, it’s not about watching you putting wires in. It’s about watching your progress. And Timelapse is king. I’ll watch a Timelapse all day. It’s channels that show real time of someone doing something that I click away and don’t subscribe. It’s all about how the video is made and NOT what you are doing. Hope this helps. Cheers.
It's really nice to see a couple working so well together. You are a nice couple. And it is human that things go wrong every now and then. Everyone makes mistakes. Nice videos and good work thanks. Greetings from the Netherlands
nice job. You want your vent to be higher than the max flood plane of your plumbing system so if you get a backup it will at least leak on the floor instead of inside your wall.
A heated floor (if you have enough electricity) above plenty of insulation in the crawl space will make that addition really comfortable. Otherwise it will always be a cold floor, assuming of course that you won't be heating an enclosed crawl space.
Nice work folks back room addition is such a great size , Also good that you can do the work yourselves that saves a great deal of money when building your off grid. and adding things. very encouraging . Steve was coming in to check out the progress. lmao silly goat he is almost human.
Something that makes a huge difference when sawdust, or insulating flying, is a heavy duty High RPM floor Fan. I have 1 in my Shop to move summer heat, and dust here in Idaho. As its created, it clears it out , and away from the work area. Thru a Doorway. Excellent investment. 24inch High velocity floor fan. Ebay 86 bucks. They Rock, cools things off too. Addition lookin good🤙🤙🔧🛠️🔧Be blessed ya all.
That tall desk: At the University I just retired from, the Director of the Career Center (Student Careers) was a retired USMC Colonel - a really cool guy. For his health he had a very tall desk that he stood at all day long with is computer on it. He didn't even have a chair nearby. Your joints and muscles will thank you later in life for sure. Couple things you may or may not care about.. the studer vent / air vent for the washer drain should be above the washer drain the reason for that is if that drain ever plugs up the vent will leak inside the wall I know they are designed to pull air in but they can and will leak water. If the vent is above the drain it will leak inside the washer box instead of the wall , you’ll also need to provide a vent in that wall to pull air .. second thing I noticed any time on water lines where you have an automatic water valve that slams shut such as a washing machine / dish washer etc.. you should put air hammers in-line to prevent water lines from slamming when the valve shuts now you don’t necessarily have to put them in but it’s better if you do
Greg you should never run plumbing in an outside wall . Good chance it will freeze up in the winter. Your building skills have really improved over the years.
insulation around water sewer should always be spray foam just saying because if there is a leak it handles water better. batten insulates holds water and stays wet for along long time.. mold grows and such... smells eck eck eck. but hey that's just me. And being an outside wall,...... water freezes and expands so what do you think will happen to that wall if it leaks? and water being on an outside wall where cold is.. i hope it doesn't freeze,.... not good. should be on inside wall in corner fine but not outside because of cold temps.Just looking further down the road for you is all. thanks for sharing as always awesome video take care Katie and Katie watch over Greg make sure he stays safe.. hugs to both of you for doing so much on your own!!.
That is one slick idea Katie has for splitting the insulation for going over the romex. I have never seen that done before in 60+ years of construction. Well done. I don't understand the purpose of the plastic around the romex boxes.
Greg you just simply crack me up, there is nothing you two wont try but WTH it works!!!!!!! Great job, not so many i'm sorrys, your doing a great job you ol roofer!!!
Auto vents cannot be put in a enclosed wall they have to be accessible as they require the intake of the rooms air. Also needs to be higher than the flood level of the fixture they are venting
Here's a suggestion: Greg, when all you're doing is pulling electrical wires through the wall, and you don't think we'll want to watch because it's boring and repetitive, fly the drone in there and get us a great shot...😂😅 Awesome job ya'll!😊 Love ya'll ❤️

I was considering doing that, but we have not had any issues with freezing pipes yet and we have other plumbing in outside walls.

Hello from Buckeye, Arizona. I love watching you build and improve your homestead ❤
You are both always working so hard. you have done so much around your property, The addition looks like it will be quite warm and cozy.
It’s looking good, wireing, plumbing, and insulation. Saves a lot when you can do it yourself. We do the same here on the farm in Kansas.
Great progress on the shed. Nice to have it functional for winter. Enjoyed the video.
This space is going to be a major game changer for your daily lives. Bravo 🐐
