Fun fact: The director of photography on this was Jordan Cronenweth who gave us the stylistic noir look of Blade Runner. I guess we all have to start somewhere!
It's supposed to be one of Spock's lines from "This Side of Paradise", though actually he apparently never says it. In an interview the crew say they used the line a lot as an inside joke, and were later mortified when they got together to rewatch the episode and realized it's never spoken. Basically it's Best Brains personal version of "Beam Me Up Scotty" (another line never actually spoken in Star Trek)
"A kind of hip Satan who solves crimes." ...it's a weird word you live in when a passing joke on a parody show becomes a fully fleshed and apparently popular reality.
+Mina Capella I can never hear Amazing Grace without singing along with the MST3K version in my head. You have no idea how much of a problem this is at funerals.
"Why won't you lay any eggs!?" "Hello tractor, how are you today?" "Well hello there, pile of dung!" "Maybe the dagblaggit thing is over yonder!" I love their grizzled old farmer....
Think the only seriously good quotes that weren't in this were "I sure love the yelling channel" and "You been hittin' the BOOZE again". (To be fair, the latter is often repeated in other eps, but this one cracks me up.) Excellent job!
As I said, Auritone, it's some good ones you had here. One I woulda loved to hear is this; Mike: OK, Crow, I'm puttin' you on Clu Gulager alert! Crow: I'm on it, Mike! I live for this job!
(singing) "come sit with me,and Satan too,he's your friend and mine" hahaha they ripped this movie apart another fav of mine is "the Beatniks" classic MST3K
And then he died" I laughed so hard my face almost fell off lol, there is another scene where they go to the store and the cashier is sayin to some customers "2,3.." than mike says "and get this 4" haha.
The screwtape and wormwood references lol. You really have to be well versed in a lot areas to get all the jokes.. Screwtape letters is a great book btw about a demon..
You missed in the barn, (sound effect like a meow)... Old farmer: "Is that you, Robert?" Mike: "Robert..... the cat." Crow: Must be playing with Andrew..... the dog."
Look at that smoke! Everyone must be burning their grandmas today. Thank for not showing the jump scare of the old lady leaning into the car. Almost wet myself when I saw that the first time.
One of my favorite MST3K episodes. This movies is one of the middling films, both watchable and forgettable. But love for Santa Ynez, Ca. Truly like much 70s low budget cinema. Wooden acting rocks, Emby Mellay
I just rewatched this movie and did notice one really good shot. The two old people are arguing about what to do with the deputy’s body and you see the camera slowly move around Emby Melley. Apparently they had to build a special rig to pull that off.
Fun fact: The director of photography on this was Jordan Cronenweth who gave us the stylistic noir look of Blade Runner. I guess we all have to start somewhere!
"A hip Satan that solve crimes..."
20 years later, "Lucifer" hits the airwaves.
💡
"This is where the fish live"
My pick for the dumbest line in MST3K history
One word: Rowsdower
“15 (?) men on a dead Dodge Dart”.
“There is no way out of here, it will be dark soon. There is no way out of here”
"Flag on the moon"
"Is this your car?"
"Yes."
"Mind if I skip rocks across it?"
Lol... I love that line..
"I sure hope he said peanuts."
“These walnuts are tearing through the hay.” My favorite line of all time.
"Poopdeck Pappy gettin' all upset here." Great line by Mike.
Kevin Murphy's singing voice (as Tom Servo) is always a highlight of any MST3K episode.
the jokes about the old lady kill me everytime.
"Where's my bike! I reported stolen 80 years ago"
"Okay, every one, I just want to see if he gets his shoes on...ye...yes...great! Glad they showed that to us."
I laugh everytime at this line.
"This is where my tongue lives"
"I'm NOT going back, Jim."
(Great Star Trek reference)
Which episode is it? Is it the one where Spock falls in love?
It's supposed to be one of Spock's lines from "This Side of Paradise", though actually he apparently never says it. In an interview the crew say they used the line a lot as an inside joke, and were later mortified when they got together to rewatch the episode and realized it's never spoken.

The public domain amazing grace song cracked me up, lol.
Sit with me,
and Satan too...
He's your friend and mine!
@4:20 Kevin singing to these soundtracks is by far my favorite thing ever. 😂
Damn, you missed "goodnight fish" "goodnight kids!" and "I love the yelling channel"
This will always be my favorite MST3K episode, right in front of SPACE MUTNY.
But "Touch of Satan" doesn't have any railing kills!
@@cindydott452 True
"A kind of hip Satan who solves crimes."
...it's a weird word you live in when a passing joke on a parody show becomes a fully fleshed and apparently popular reality.
"Maybe the dagblaggit thing is over yonder?" Hahahaha!
Geez if these "dramatic" pauses were any more pregnant, they'd be having septuplets!
this song is in, the public domain... that's why we used it twice~
+Mina Capella I can never hear Amazing Grace without singing along with the MST3K version in my head. You have no idea how much of a problem this is at funerals.
+Tam Rosearrow LOL
+Tam Rosearrow it's ok I'm the same way with we will rock you by Queen. all I hear is the rowsdower version
"i put some pinuts in it"
"I sure hope he said peanuts"
lol
"It's sad. Really is."
_"Yup. Really, really, really sad. Ok, sex now?"_
"What's in the chest?"
_"...beg your pardon?"_
Such a great sequence. 😂😂
🎵What do you get when you fall from grace?
You only get cast into perdition~🎵
None of these episodes are my favorites, just MST3K itself is my favorite.
It all comes together in "Night of the Blood Beast" though. All the Steves, shrimp babies, and Frankenberryguns!
Although it's not in this montage, my favorite is "I sure like the yelling channel."
"And then he died" XD well there goes my lungs.
"Why won't you lay any eggs!?"
"Hello tractor, how are you today?"
"Well hello there, pile of dung!"
"Maybe the dagblaggit thing is over yonder!"
I love their grizzled old farmer....
"Those Walnuts are tearing through the hay!"
Tom Servo is very musical. I've noticed that in a lot of the episodes.
"This is where the fish lives"
"This is where my tongue lives"
"Don't spook the walnuts!" LOL
"Oo, I sure hope he said 'peanuts'."
This was one of the first MST3K episodes I'd ever seen. For some reason, the gag that stuck with me was the one about CARNATION ICE CREAM.
Little did they know that we would eventually get a tv show about a hip Satan who solves crimes.
There's been a walnut uprisin'
"Oh, I sure hope he said 'peanuts'." One of my favorite riffs ever, if only because I thought he said something else as well...
Me and my dad always at dinner will start saying "AND THEN HE DIED HAHAHAHAHAH"
i've given it a lot of thought and my official position is that "this is where my tongue lives" is the #1 mst3k riff of all time.
*_There's been a walnut uprising.._*
"This is my unbelievably sweaty dad." LMAO!
"I'm not going back, Jim!"
Star Trek and MST3K for the world!! :D
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT attempt to drink a beverage while watching this.
This is where the fish lives...lol its sad how much I still use that line years later
The Dark "Stop it!"
I always forget 'this is where the fish lives'
"As a kind of hip Satan that solves crimes." Did they predict Lucifer?
Yup 😊
"Why won't you lay any eggs?!"
Tom: "Nice door, I'd like to see it crumpled up next to me bed. Oh wait..." LOL!
I'm not going back Jim."
"oh this is VERY 70's. I bet Anthony Zerbe is in it."
"Maybe the dagblagat thing is over yonder"
:)
Thanks for this! Any 'favorite moments' or 'best of' for an MST3K is always challenging, so many good riffs to choose from.
3:37 After Stephen Colbert’s “an almond doesn’t lactate” joke, that gets even funnier.
Think the only seriously good quotes that weren't in this were "I sure love the yelling channel" and "You been hittin' the BOOZE again". (To be fair, the latter is often repeated in other eps, but this one cracks me up.) Excellent job!
The 3 lines that crack me up no matter how many times I hear them-
"Why won't you lay an eggs?"
"Hello pile of dung!"
"Get of the road Mangoat!" LOL!
"Like what I'm doing to your car"
As I said, Auritone, it's some good ones you had here. One I woulda loved to hear is this;
Mike: OK, Crow, I'm puttin' you on Clu Gulager alert!
Crow: I'm on it, Mike! I live for this job!
(singing) "come sit with me,and Satan too,he's your friend and mine" hahaha they ripped this movie apart another fav of mine is "the Beatniks" classic MST3K
"Nope, I'm still at large."
Crow: Wait, you can't use Amazing Grace in a DEVIL movie!
And then he died" I laughed so hard my face almost fell off lol, there is another scene where they go to the store and the cashier is sayin to some customers "2,3.." than mike says "and get this 4" haha.
"I just wanna ask you while we're away from the others: do ya think we're weird at all?"
This is my favorite episode of mst3k! ^^
Why-Why Andy! I think there was a DEMON in the CAR!
I read that in barney Fife's voice!
hehe, awesome job on the video, and I LOVE your description lol. It's perfect!
"Pay attention to the word of god"
"For he loves you and he may KILL you if you don't" ROTFLOL
Satan-centric movies always creep me the hell out, especially this one and how it ends, but MST still made this a pretty darn funny episode.
The screwtape and wormwood references lol.
You really have to be well versed in a lot areas to get all the jokes..
Screwtape letters is a great book btw about a demon..
This cups glued to my lip 😂
I had the same Maverick as my first car. Same colors. It did have, A Touch of Satan. or maybe just rust in the gas tank.
"Get off the road ManGoat!!"
"Why won't you lay any eggs!?"
The 2 lines that always crack me up no matter what! LOL!
Someday I'll make it to where the fish live....someday
You missed in the barn, (sound effect like a meow)... Old farmer: "Is that you, Robert?" Mike: "Robert..... the cat." Crow: Must be playing with Andrew..... the dog."
Look at that smoke! Everyone must be burning their grandmas today.
Thank for not showing the jump scare of the old lady leaning into the car. Almost wet myself when I saw that the first time.
6:06 and 8:20: The Amazing Grace jokes.
“I’ll prepare the sewing room.”
“THE SAWING ROOM?!”
1:59 - 2:12 The hardest I ever laughed in all the episodes.
He passed over the scene where they go home and they say "good nite fish" and crow goes in underwater old man voice "goodnight kids"
“Now Andy I swear, there was a demon in that car!” -best line
" The American Gothic people take revenge!" >:D bwahahahahaha xD
The "go Packers" comment was here only because one of the guys in the mob was also in Giant Spider Invasion. Nice little touch there.
_Nice little touch there._
A little *touch* of Satan?
I freakin' LOVE this show....it's my favorite.
I don't need to *take* my fruit snack, but I will because I want to...
Fromicidal maniac? Is that correct? I need to check my dictionotamy...
"With Screwtape on kettle drum! Wormwood on harpsichord!"
C.S. Lewis reference, nice!
One of my favorite MST3K episodes. This movies is one of the middling films, both watchable and forgettable. But love for Santa Ynez, Ca. Truly like much 70s low budget cinema. Wooden acting rocks, Emby Mellay
"That's not a name, it's a bad 'Scrabble' hand!" 🤣
5:11 - 5:16
"AH Its a hideous thing made of Skin!! Oh its just me!"
That line gets me everytime
"Is he getting his shoes on? Yes... yes... he got 'em on! I'm so glad they showed that."
Hip Satan who solves crimes... never gets old.
Now what did i do with that dern pitchfork? Maybe the dag flaggit thing is over yonder. 😂 @1:48
I've said zah in better places than this
"Caleb, what kinda charcoal did you use?"
Actually, the "Amazing Grace" bit on the soundtrack was kinda genius.
@albee1000
The fish also holds a time share in Guadalajara. They split it with Hugo the Dummy every other year or so.
Also. "I was locked in the tanning both for a whole decade"
Every time I watch this episode, I remember how totally cute Beez McKeever is.
She is a adorable ain't she? And she plays the "Babysitter Who Takes Her Job VERY Seriously" role superbly
Agreed, Beez does look cute, in a creepy house sitter from Hell kind of way...
*auritone* (This movie features...a walnut-farm)
I beg to differ. This movie features a walnut RANCH! As in _"How many head a' walnut do ya have?"_
This is where the fish liveS.
I just rewatched this movie and did notice one really good shot. The two old people are arguing about what to do with the deputy’s body and you see the camera slowly move around Emby Melley. Apparently they had to build a special rig to pull that off.
"There's been a wall nut uprising."
Theres been a walnut uprising....
wow that walnut banter between those two... smoldering o_O
Crow (as Lucinda): Where's my bike I reported it stolen 80 years ago
I meant to ask him in for pie I don't know what happened
BO BO needs another tick bath, thanx Beez.
