- This is the NEW Team Associated Reflex 14MT RC Car, well... I'd say it's the Rival MT14! Can it take on all those Cheap Junk RC Cars you complain about! A mini Rival MT10 for sure! It's so fast on 2s (2 Cell, 7.4V). I'd say it's the fastest mini 'basher' out there!

I'm a novice rc guy but since I started in rc I've traded in speed for durability. Fast is cool and all, but I can't afford buying parts constantly because of it. The more tourche the faster it wears out gears. I'm happy with a slower little basher that's reliable.
Just don’t drive it so fast then silly
This is the fastest and toughest mini-basher you can get on the market. You can beat the snot out of it at skate parks and it just keeps coming back for more. Yes, it's fast for a 2s mini but it's as tough as it gets for these mini bashers.
Perfect backflip mostly off camera, then 10 sideways jumps in a row haha. Really fun seeing all the MT sizes next to each other thanks
Yeah… 1st go, perfect…. then it all went wrong haha
Something I don't see the RC channels do that's a lot of fun is having a landing ramp and seeing how are you can make it and land. It's very satisfying to do.
😊
The Mt 10 spur stripped twice on my machine, mainly because the motor mount is too thin,(Bends)and the spur is plastic.similar set up with this Little Mt 14 .Other than that MT10 has enabled me to avoid my anger management course.Just hoping an aftermarket company releases a tough motor mount and steel spur.✌️
I don't mind a "pro mo" My mate Paul was shocked when he found out my front diff was blown, and l still gave him a run for his money on a short-range race on
short grass off-road speed run race on his MT 10 love it love the channel Tom great. 👍
I got one over a week ago. Well built. Runs great. Good air authority. The tires are awesome! Mine just started doing the click, took off the diff cover to took a look and that was enough to make it go away. I noticed there was some junk in the depression below the center diff. Something gets in there and makes this happen. might be something a little well placed silicon can fix if we can find the leak. Solid little truck. The motor gets stupid hot though. I'm looking forward to seeing what the mod community does to it. I have anew set of Hoons silvers for my Infraction 3s I am going to play with soon. My guess is that it will be a little drift machine with them! Thanks for the vid!
I am a card-carrying TA fanboy and I now have 3 relfex of my own and the wife and brother have one as well. The BEST yard-friendly cars on the market. Buy them, you will enjoy them.
Because they already have a Reflex platform for 14th scale cars. I have Reflex 14B with a castle system that can run 3S and it's bonkers fast. Fun little cars.
My MT14 (agreed, they DEFINITELY should have named it that!) gets bits stuck in the spur gear ALL THE TIME and starts clicking like that, destroying the teeth. I've been avoiding any small gravel until I can figure out how to stop it from getting in there. I'm also definitely going to try the smaller spur gear that came with it. 36mph is pretty fast for such a small truck, particularly only on 2s. I'm glad you hung in there with it. I really have been enjoying mine, minus the grit magnet of a spur gear. It drives so much better than nearly all of the cheapo 1/16 scale stuff out there. Love your videos!
On the Tekno forum some people recommend opening the hole under the spur to let rocks and grit out. Sounds counterintuitive, but the nitro buggies have a hole under the spur for the starter to engage with, so might be worth trying out in your case?
I'd like to see a durability test before I buy one 😜. I bought the mt10 because of you and Talbot, show is what this can really do
I personally am a short course truck guy myself, so I run the sc10 pro4 and I will say compared to the slash, Baja Rey, and any other short course vehicle or even monster trucks, TA really brought a great new standard for there cars, I launched it off ft cliff and it's still my main racer
I've got the TA SC Pro4 and it doesn't handle as well as my Losi Tenacity TT Pro. It's probably tougher than the Tenacity for bashing but around a track the TT Pro is faster. But Team Associated have some great RCs, my MT10 is still one of my favourite RCs.
@@TheflyingkiwiRC really?!?! The tenacity tt pro is my "dream" truck, I made a financial decision and that's how I got the pro4, I love how it races, so it's reassuring knowing that it's so smooth, how is the tts stability at high speeds?
@@Just_Another_Ghost4-2 You made a good choice in the Pro4 is a lot cheaper than the TT. For the money the Pro4 is unbeatable. The TTs stability at high speed is very good. I run mine on 3s and it rips. I have the DB Pro as well, SC trucks not really my thing I prefer buggies. Enjoy the Pro 4 bro they are a great platform. ☝️👍
I got one like 2 weeks ago, ran it once stock but modded it after that first battery. Castle 1007 6350kv motor and micro x2 esc. Had to use a hot racing mod 0.5 12t pinion as it was the only one I could find with a 1/8" hole, switched to the smaller spur gear also and it really rips. Got the same clicking and it turns out it was the motor tilting due to how it's mounted. Will have to make a rear brace for the motor to solve that issue. It is by far one of the funniest RC's I've ever owned. Once I get the motor tilting issue fixed will throw the gps on it, betting over 50mph on 2s and do have some 3s batteries that will fit also.
it will burn the motor in 3s
@@filsdedieu100 Does not have stock motor, the castle motor installed is rated to handle up to 3s and the esc is rated to 4s (also castle).
@@filsdedieu100I replaced the stock 30amp 2S esc on my 14B with a HW 10BL120 3S esc. I've also added 2 heat sensitive fans to the side of the motor. Motor still purrs after more than a year of running it. (Though I do have a Surpass 2845 motor upgrade in the wait...)
@@tjkj-om9oi ok I understand better
Great content, and looks like that little truck is a blast!
It looks very nice but (personal opinion) I live in South America and here you buy a hyper go for 93 usd instead the reflex 14 mt arrives for 250 usd. You can take it however you want, I bought a hyper go 16209 more than 1 year ago, it's a tough little animal that didn't want to die. As always, your video is very good. greetings
Please more Skatepark Action with this little beast !! We need durability test !! thanks Sir
Also. Everyone in the hobby should refer to it as the MT14. Power in numbers guys😂
I bought one with the battery and charger, I love it, if you are traveling perfect rc to take with you
I was interested in the reflex 14b but was immediately turned away by the plastic gears. Glad I did. Your videos are VERY informational and have inspired me to build some crazy fast cars. Always anticipating your next video.
you can always upgrade to metal
@@burntjuulpod I'm pushing everyone of my wltoys 1/12 and below to over 100mph with stock gears. I guess I just expect more from Team Associated
@@brandonwynn9801 dang. whats your favorite/most reliable 4wd wl toys?
TA's product has always shown a strong determination and enthusiasm in dirt spec. As Tomley thinks TA is gd, and it's really not bad. Let's see I will probably buy an apex2 car as my last 1-10-scale-and-above RC car and tribute to Block and TA next month. My room is full.
last car - sure thing man. See you around 300 cars later after that statement.
@@project-mk-ultra 🤣
I agree. Definitely should’ve been named mt14
Well the damaged spur was not really a durability issue, just poor pre-run setting up bloke. 🤨
Note to all peeps! We should all check the really basic things on a new RC. Is the pinion tight? Are the wheel nuts tight? Did I connect the battery? (if it's a boat, don't worry yourself looking for wheels ok?)
Yeah… although unfortunately people will look at that as a weak point, when it could have just been an easy fix as soon as I heard it clicking
Appreciate the great videos and honest experiences.
Associated missed an opportunity not calling it the MT14, and I'm confused as well about the solid axle MT12 haha. Looking forward to that review as well!
Dropping in to see whats up💯🔥👍 nice new toy👍
And this is why I check things before driving. 😆
Nice little one though. 👍
Great review. Unfortunately AE motor mount for the 14th scale cars is one of the worst designs IMO. They should’ve changed it from the 14T & 14B
It was kinda fun with the busted spur, sounded like an inquisitive miniature pig. Seems it overall is quite a tough little one, the less weight, the more tough generally I guess.
i love the way you bought it yourself,,, i hate all the people that have cars given to them sponsors etc and they trash them,, poor kids in the world would love to have them,, keep up the great work :) darren from cardiff
Pretty impressive little truck, Phil!!! 😃
Finally on that comes with turtle mode! 😂
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It's the motor mesh. They don't mesh them properly from the factory, for some reason they don't put the pinion and spur square together and it strips the spur. I have one and exactly same story, used the spare spur and I was like wow!!!!
The mt10 is awesome my daughter beats the deal out of it and only had one chassis change as it went on its on flat out into a metal post !
I just won a Arrma Kraton 4x4 4s BLX RTR Blue from Hobbycomps UK thanks to TomleyRC for making me aware of this awesome site I am so syked for this
The little skit me crying about not being sponsored so to speak especially the blurred rigs 😂
I believe it is called the 14mt because TA’s other 14th scale cars have the letters after the the 14. Not sure if this is correct though. But awesome video man!
I’m pretty sure that’s faster than the MT10 on 2S. Nice bash!
Love your vids...you should create a RUclips channel based on RC stuff! Maybe throw a full size 'yota in there too!
Get the Hobbywing 16bl30 in there! Its programmable and can run 3s , great vid as always mate
I can’t imagine what it would be like on 3s 😅
@@TomleyRC still run it on 2s but turn breaks down and punch 🥊 up
Can you recommend a first 1/10 crawler under £200 either kit or RTR that is good and has plenty of upgrades available please? Thanks.
Impressive rc in contrast to the Chinese junks without spare parts!❤
And likely hex hardware.
You should watch the whole video and then his videos of those "junk" cars on this channel. I think you'll be surprised which ones took more or a beating. Spare parts galore online too.
I think this is 2-3x more expensive just for the name.
@@jhsumatt mate, i have not missed a video for the last 3+ years.
He likes some Chinese junks as i do and own, but this TA has quality rcs and part availability is there for years.
Try find wltoys spare parts for his yellow wltoys brushless car:🤭🤭🤭🤭😅😅🤭🤭
@@jhsumatt HBX, WPL, and (some)WLToys are the only ones I have seen with easy to get spare parts (but with slow shipping).
Some cracking cheapos out there for sure 👌
How does it compare to the Traxxas 1/16 e revo? I would like to see a video comparing them out in the grass ,dirt , and gravel . I want a new small scale I just don’t know which one.
GPM makes a metal spur gear for it. You will have to change to a Mod 1 pinion. It's a little louder with the Mod 1 gears but it's bulletproof3. You can skate park bash the nuts off it, lol.
It sounded like a little happy piggy oinking around the skate park 😂
Haha
I bought a 1/16 scale drift semi that i wish i could show you so that you could do a review on
Is this going to be on a top 5 or 10 list?
Nice video dude looking forward to getting mine when there stock in the uk
Iv got the mt10 , and definitely getting the Mt14,
I wasn't sold on the mt8 ,
Haha, love the interlude! xD
Mate the spur gear on this platform is a massive issue I literally ended up binning my reflex in the end because it just kept shredding spur gears . They are junk
Maybe after July 31st. Couple of Arrmas coming & im Illicit as I type this . Lil truck did as good as I expected .👍
Nice!
So would you recommend the hbx 16889 pro or this ?
hahhah you mad funny yoo i love to see you being confident in what you do much love much love!!
Cheers dude
I'd buy one of those.
You need to give that MT10 some TLC and revisit it. RPM control arms and diff tuning will suffice. Hell, I'll send you the arms for it.
MT10 or MT8?
Not many got the truggy .. 😂 reminds me of the mini erevo..will it fit a shorty pack..so lazy to buy new batteries again.. 😂
You do realise Phil that you and Kev agree on the comparitive attributes of the MT10 and MT8?
Great review as always!
Everybody agrees on that. So...🤷♂️
I was shouting about this way before Kev got his hands on it. But yeah… rated by many 👌
Amain is calling it the Reflex 14MT. I assume it has no slipper soo a stripped spur is no biggy to me. For the $200 it would cost me I think I will get one to play around and jump some ramps around my yard. That small spur and extra speed is a great bonus! I want it. I wont be bashing it that hard at skateparks and stuff soo it should be plenty durable for my driving.
Best little truck I think.
The probably call it the 14mt because it's on the same chassis as the 14b.
Now the real question is this or the wl toys 1/14
Quick off the Line 😮
Love this Brick of a truck
Tomley trolling
Hello my friend from California Bay Area just it’s a cool truck probably good for traveling fun .thanks again for the great video 🎉
Wish ARRMA would make a 1/14 or 1/16 Granite
Superb! MT14 it is😊
For 200+ dollars I feel like the motor/spur gear shouldn't have taken damage that easy. My wife bought me the redcat volcano 18 and it was 100 bucks USD and I've bashed the hell out of it, and only broke shock body mounts, replaced the shocks in the front with oil filled and bobs your uncle.
I was very impressed with mine
Ill stick with my MJX
Thumbs up for replicating the back flip. 😂
Crazy as I got this first one on the very first try haha
great video hope the new spur holds up
🤞🏻
I've been hoping to see the MT12 monster truck on here. I've almost bought one a dozen times but I'm worried I'd always grab the King Sling controller instead of it when i was in a conventional monster truck mood. I love the MT10 but and the MT14! Looks great but owning the Outcast 8s exb and SCX-6 jlu has convinced me my ex wife was right for leaving me. Bigger is better...
The Mt12 is based on the TeamAsso CR12 which is based on the Thundertiger Toyota Hilux/PUBG Suv Vehicle. All of these vehicles are completely the same, only exception being the body. They are all trail trucks. I own the Tt hilux version and im pretty sure the driveline, Chassis and suspension us way too weak to be bashed as a MT. I would stay clear!
Ok. Brushless to brushless comparison between hypergo hbx and mt14mt.(lol)
I'm a mt10 fan but
(I'm also have the original mt18)(or is,it 18mt?) wanna see this stacked up against it's "rivals"
.....
Ok I checked, it's a
RC18MT 😉
Ok.. I checked,
It's a RC18MT 😉
So there was nothing wrong with it. Was the spur gear bad
Subbed and liked. I have been watching your videos for a few days. I wanted to ask your opinion or followers opinion but a bit of background first. So first off I'm from America so I do not know if i can get some of the things yall have across the pond. I played around with nitro trucks as a kid so I do have a bit of background with RC.
My question is, what would you advise for a small Electric truck to convert to FPV my idea as follows. I work in a sugarcane processing mill. After seeing a video cross my feed an idea came across. Some of our large drain pipes are hard to access and hard to send a borescope down. Anyway I would like to convert a truck I'm guessing around 1/12th scale or smaller add fpv to it and some kind of small hitch to the back to pull a rope through the pipe. I imagine I should water proof it best as possible maybe add a bit of weight to the truck so that it would grip slightly more? I'm not sure, also wondering would it be possible would I have to lower an antenna to the mouth of the pipe so that it can feed the signal to the tuck down the pipe. Lol I have many questions but wanted to ask the community if this idea would even be feasible.
At the moment google is not helping much as this seems like it may be uncharted territory and hasn't been tried yet but it seems to me it could be a highly valuable tool at work. If it did work I could imagine using a few different sizes to get the job done. Anyway any feedback would be cool. Keep the content coming
Mini E-revo is pretty fast on 2s as well a head too head would be interesting

If only logic was applied eh?
0:40 but if you keep it in neutral it'll be a bad review, just revving the motor and not going anywhere
😅
Nope.!
Another overpriced RC from another "top manufacturer" that thinks just because their name's on something we'll all be gullible enough to buy it.
Non oil diffs, plastic spider gears inside those diffs & a crap centre oil filled diff that won't hold oil & has a plastic spur.
When you look at something like an MJX Hyper go which is a cheap Chinese manufacturer, those have beefy all metal gears, beefy bearings & diffs that do hold oil.!
Also, this has 2S only electronics while the MJX can do 3S.!
I bet if you tried running this drivetrain on 3S it wouldn't last 5 minutes.!
Is there any comparison, especially when you consider the MJX can be had for less than half price on occasion.!?
I'm getting sick of all these new releases that are admittedly very good RCs, but are way, way over priced.!
Especially when other "lesser" manufacturers can offer products that are as good if not even better for way less money.!
Associated is actually a pretty reasonable manufacturer, but £200 for this is pushing it.!
Yes, I know everything is getting more expensive, but that's still no excuse.
Axial/Traxxas/Losi are the worst of the bunch, look at any of their RCs & tell me they're reasonably priced...
I acknowledge that the UK's taxes are an issue & also that because China is classed as a "developing economy" 😂 😂 😂 they get huge trade concessions when it comes to import & shipping.... But I don't care.... I just want to be able to play with reasonably priced good RC cars.!
Okay... Whinge over.....
Cheers Phil, another awesome video for us to enjoy.

Where you really see the difference is in the handling. Race a China junk RC around some cones and see how much faster the AE is. My local club does 1/14 buggy carpet racing and the Reflexes are so much faster than a Rlaarlo or similar it isn't even funny.
Handling around turn has to do with suspension set up. Speed has to do with motors. Most experienced drivers won't buy a Rlaarlo to race because its not geared for carpet or quick acceleration. I drive every mini with confidence around my track after driving 2 x14b buggies its absolutely the worst mini race cars I've driven stock.
