My daughter ran away and loved the streets too. Got hooked on drugs and alcohol. She’s traveled the world as a Call girl for wealthy men. She decided that although the fast money was good, it was becoming dangerous. She left after men she thought would keep her safe started beating her and taking her money. She’s a mom now and is in Nursing school and has a little family. People can change. My daughter left the streets only 2 years ago.
This is one of the most disgusting stories I've ever heard she had a baby by a minor at 21 years old then left the baby with the pedophile whom was 43 years old while having sex with her at the age of 16 this is beyond sick and she left her baby with him to "raise" her I can only imagine the trauma that young girl is going through right now god bless her daughter her mother failed her and has no emotion about it

The fact that she left her child with a predator and hasn’t seen her in over a year is beyond disturbing to me. Even when Mark asked if she thought the man may be abusing her child she looked down at the ground and exhaled and said “no I don’t even think he looks at her like that.” Watch her eyes and body language it was clearly a lie. Another sad story of a young woman lost in the streets. I don’t believe her daughter lives in Malibu. That’s the story her brain created to keep her from falling off the edge of despair. She probably doesn’t have any idea where her daughter is or how she’s faring. I think she needs therapy and medication. That’s her shot to get off these streets and have a chance at a better life.

It’s amazing how witty and smart a lot of these people are. The conversation is usually on point and they have such telling things to say. I wish better for them all.
One of the things I truly appreciate about Mark is how he gets on people's level - if they laugh about their pain and craziness, he laughs alongside them. If they cry, he gently prompts them and offers a tissue, a small and respectful comfort. He doesn't judge them harshly, he doesn't moralize, even when he offers them a mirror ("are you addicted to being shot in the stomach? Turning tricks?") its all in good faith and offered with kindness. To the best of my perception, as a devoted and practicing Buddhist, Mark strikes me as a Bodhisattva - whether or not he knows it.

As the interview progresses,l reckon she grows more remorseful. She is intelligent enough and can do better. She has pride still ,which can save a life when not misused ,pride saved me. She is strong and anyone can "look good" it's all deception and conviction. I hope you pull yourself out of this Amber . Perhaps you could be expert at other things that bring long term fulfillment. Also,sex and orgasming is base and once you take a break from it ,you can really see it for what it truly is. And as someone who spent time on the streets, at one point, I feel like I can tell you what it is that attracts people to them, and keeps people addicted to that, particular lifestyle (despite personally not wanting to stay there, and not needing to): I believe people like the freedom they have on the streets, as well as the sense of adventure, and spontaneity that such a lifestyle entails. Leading a life of structure and routine, can often, quickly, turn into a life of monotony; where, you wake up at the same time, each day, drive the same route to work, see the same faces and the same scenery, engage in the same tasks, the same small talk, go home, via the same route, to the same structure each night, eat dinner, go to sleep, and then repeat the process, over again, the next day. Contrarily, when on the streets, you feel a much greater, and more expansive, capacity for freedom. You have nothing binding you to a specific place, and no two days are ever the same as one another. Boredom is rarely something that occurs, since the environment varies from one day to the next; therefore, avoiding stagnation. When on the streets, a person no longer has to worry about acceptance, or the need to uphold a particular image, in order to fit in. She can fully and truly embrace herself, in ways that she feels would, otherwise, be looked down upon, stigmatized, stereotyped, or judged in a negative light, in mainstream society. I think people feel more comfortable in their own skin, to an extent, on the streets, since what would normally be seen as questionable, or negative attributes about a person, are openly accepted and even embraced, within that specific environment. A person doesn't feel pressured to be things she is not, or as if she needs to conform to a certain, "human mold" in order to be accepted, or appreciated, for who she actually is, on all levels; bad habits, shortcomings, insecurities, and flaws, included. In this respect, a person might develop the feeling of being more in control of his or her own life, since there are no outside ideals to have to answer to, and thus, no associated feelings of insignificance, or a lack of personalization, surrounding one's life, and one's life choices. For example, rather than someone, mindlessly, working her fingers to the bone, for a big, soulless corporation, where she feels constant pressure to live up to a certain standard, the need to appear to be something she feels she, truly, is not, or as if there are aspects of her personality or character that consistently need to remain hidden, in order for her to be respected and valued as, both, an employee, and a human being, life on the streets is devoid of all such pressures, and such stigmas, so someone is able to feel more comfortable, and at home, within her own skin, and liberated from social pressures, so she is free to live a life that is true to who she is. These factors, again, all serve toward creating that heightened sense of freedom that coincides with the appeal of, and addiction to, the streets. Beyond this, I definitely feel like the illegal activities that many people tend to engage in, on the streets, as well as the dangers that such a lifestyle poses, contribute, to where taking those risks, regularly, adds a further degree of excitement and adventure to that lifestyle. Lastly, I actually, also, believe that the streets, surprisingly, have a lot to teach people. This might sound a bit strange, but I assure you, it is true. Things are constantly being learned, and situations are, often, being presented, that a person would, otherwise, never have the opportunity to experience, in life, and which offer a rare, and valuable, form of insight, intelligence, and intuition to develop. Anyway, sorry this comment turned into, more of, a novel! I just thought I'd share what I've grown to believe about this subject, based on a combination of personal experience, and the viewpoints of others, who have found themselves in similar situations. Hopefully it helps to add a bit of insight, for anyone who's interested!😋

Nonetheless I really connected with this explanation. It makes sense. As someone on the opposite end of "the streets" I can certainly understand the yearning for freedom, adventure and just the overall feeling of not being judged and expected to conform to social norms. It's arguably desirable, but both lives come with its own advantages and disadvantages. I would not trade my boring, unadventurous, monotonous life for the alternative. My life offers me a different kind of freedom; physically freedom from a jail cell, a warm safe place to return in the evening, food, money that I earn with my health and dignity in tact, a relationship with my family, a safe place for my children grow, learn develop and thrive. All of these things make monotony more than worth it to me. There are safer ways to seek adventure and freedom. To each their own, though.

I'm a former journalist. This channel is great. It really shows a lot about the people out on the streets and alternate life styles. The stories of how they got there are fascinating. You never know what to believe or not believe. Drugs and mental conditions can change a person's story within one sentence. However, these people still deserve a certain amount of compassion. You always wonder what would they be like if only one or two circumstances in their lives was different. Unfortunately, most of them have learned to accept the hand they are dealt.

That’s a great point! They really did get beat up by a man but say a man never beat them up. Maybe they mean no man will beat them up on the streets? She’s right though, most of the time if you are nice and compliant in a threatening situation it calms the violent person down. This is from someone that has had a circle of murderers hold guns and knives up to me. And several other instances of violence. When I talked calmly and showed no fear they let me go. Ideally they want to see the fear in your eyes, begging and fighting and when you don’t show those emotions, it’s not so fun for them and it snaps them back into reality

My daughter ran away and loved the streets too. Got hooked on drugs and alcohol. She’s traveled the world as a Call girl for wealthy men.
She decided that although the fast money was good, it was becoming dangerous.
She left after men she thought would keep her safe started beating her and taking her money.
She’s a mom now and is in Nursing school and has a little family. People can change.

Another sad story of a young woman lost in the streets. I don’t believe her daughter lives in Malibu. That’s the story her brain created to keep her from falling off the edge of despair. She probably doesn’t have any idea where her daughter is or how she’s faring. I think she needs therapy and medication. That’s her shot to get off these streets and have a chance at a better life.

One of the things I truly appreciate about Mark is how he gets on people's level - if they laugh about their pain and craziness, he laughs alongside them. If they cry, he gently prompts them and offers a tissue, a small and respectful comfort. He doesn't judge them harshly, he doesn't moralize, even when he offers them a mirror ("are you addicted to being shot in the stomach? Turning tricks?") its all in good faith and offered with kindness. To the best of my perception, as a devoted and practicing Buddhist, Mark strikes me as a Bodhisattva - whether or not he knows it.

And as someone who spent time on the streets, at one point, I feel like I can tell you what it is that attracts people to them, and keeps people addicted to that, particular lifestyle (despite personally not wanting to stay there, and not needing to): I believe people like the freedom they have on the streets, as well as the sense of adventure, and spontaneity that such a lifestyle entails. Leading a life of structure and routine, can often, quickly, turn into a life of monotony; where, you wake up at the same time, each day, drive the same route to work, see the same faces and the same scenery, engage in the same tasks, the same small talk, go home, via the same route, to the same structure each night, eat dinner, go to sleep, and then repeat the process, over again, the next day. Contrarily, when on the streets, you feel a much greater, and more expansive, capacity for freedom. You have nothing binding you to a specific place, and no two days are ever the same as one another. Boredom is rarely something that occurs, since the environment varies from one day to the next; therefore, avoiding stagnation. When on the streets, a person no longer has to worry about acceptance, or the need to uphold a particular image, in order to fit in. She can fully and truly embrace herself, in ways that she feels would, otherwise, be looked down upon, stigmatized, stereotyped, or judged in a negative light, in mainstream society. I think people feel more comfortable in their own skin, to an extent, on the streets, since what would normally be seen as questionable, or negative attributes about a person, are openly accepted and even embraced, within that specific environment. A person doesn't feel pressured to be things she is not, or as if she needs to conform to a certain, "human mold" in order to be accepted, or appreciated, for who she actually is, on all levels; bad habits, shortcomings, insecurities, and flaws, included. In this respect, a person might develop the feeling of being more in control of his or her own life, since there are no outside ideals to have to answer to, and thus, no associated feelings of insignificance, or a lack of personalization, surrounding one's life, and one's life choices. For example, rather than someone, mindlessly, working her fingers to the bone, for a big, soulless corporation, where she feels constant pressure to live up to a certain standard, the need to appear to be something she feels she, truly, is not, or as if there are aspects of her personality or character that consistently need to remain hidden, in order for her to be respected and valued as, both, an employee, and a human being, life on the streets is devoid of all such pressures, and such stigmas, so someone is able to feel more comfortable, and at home, within her own skin, and liberated from social pressures, so she is free to live a life that is true to who she is. These factors, again, all serve toward creating that heightened sense of freedom that coincides with the appeal of, and addiction to, the streets. Beyond this, I definitely feel like the illegal activities that many people tend to engage in, on the streets, as well as the dangers that such a lifestyle poses, contribute, to where taking those risks, regularly, adds a further degree of excitement and adventure to that lifestyle. Lastly, I actually, also, believe that the streets, surprisingly, have a lot to teach people. This might sound a bit strange, but I assure you, it is true. Things are constantly being learned, and situations are, often, being presented, that a person would, otherwise, never have the opportunity to experience, in life, and which offer a rare, and valuable, form of insight, intelligence, and intuition to develop. Anyway, sorry this comment turned into, more of, a novel! I just thought I'd share what I've grown to believe about this subject, based on a combination of personal experience, and the viewpoints of others, who have found themselves in similar situations. Hopefully it helps to add a bit of insight, for anyone who's interested!😋

Nonetheless I really connected with this explanation. It makes sense. As someone on the opposite end of "the streets" I can certainly understand the yearning for freedom, adventure and just the overall feeling of not being judged and expected to conform to social norms. It's arguably desirable, but both lives come with its own advantages and disadvantages. I would not trade my boring, unadventurous, monotonous life for the alternative. My life offers me a different kind of freedom; physically freedom from a jail cell, a warm safe place to return in the evening, food, money that I earn with my health and dignity in tact, a relationship with my family, a safe place for my children grow, learn develop and thrive. All of these things make monotony more than worth it to me. There are safer ways to seek adventure and freedom. To each their own, though.

I'm a former journalist. This channel is great. It really shows a lot about the people out on the streets and alternate life styles. The stories of how they got there are fascinating. You never know what to believe or not believe. Drugs and mental conditions can change a person's story within one sentence. However, these people still deserve a certain amount of compassion. You always wonder what would they be like if only one or two circumstances in their lives was different. Unfortunately, most of them have learned to accept the hand they are dealt.

I've watched 2 interviews in a row where the women have had their teeth knocked out by a man, but are still saying that no one gets to beat them up! Is it just bravado, because it's too painful & frightening to admit how vulnerable they actually are out on the street?
That’s a great point! They really did get beat up by a man but say a man never beat them up. Maybe they mean no man will beat them up on the streets? She’s right though, most of the time if you are nice and compliant in a threatening situation it calms the violent person down. This is from someone that has had a circle of murderers hold guns and knives up
to me. And several other instances of violence. When I talked calmly and showed no fear they let me go. Ideally they want to see the fear in your eyes, begging and fighting and when you don’t show those emotions, it’s not so fun for them and it snaps them back into reality
I question sometimes how much truth is told in the guest stories, Mercedes Benz might have been a Hyundai, 1,500 a night may actually be 300.

Seems like this started with narcissistic abuse, then self denial about it. Then the inability to care for self or others (daughter) due to being "numb" as a trauma response. This is what a broken child's mind in adult body looks like! So important we heal our traumas so we come out a better end 💜 my prayer goes out to these souls.

There was no attraction for me, I couldn't wait to get off the streets. My mum had just had a baby and I just wanted to be at home being the big sister. I had that horrible feeling of being lost and needing to get home, like a bad dream. I can't relate ❤️

I also had the same concern as Mark when he asked if there was anything sexual with the ex & daughter. If a middle aged man was with her when she was a teenager & now her own teenager lives with him as well. You can tell she didn't like the question so Mark backed off, but I had the same concern.
