what a great film, took me back to when I worked for Crescent Shipping, we used to visit most of the Rivers and wharves on the southeast corner of the UK in Coasters and Barges, and we would quite often visit Wivenhoe and the transit dock in Colchester. I did visit the old dock a few years ago and was saddened to see it in such a state of disrepair, it was a wonder how so many barges and Coasters used to get up the river Colne to the port. I was always told that you only went up on a flood tide and came down on an ebb tide as there was not enough room to pass another craft. It was a great time not to be forgotten such memories of those days. all the rivers and wharves are now silted ok docks have gone trade dried up so many years ago, I find it very sad. containers have a lot to answer for.

Arghhhhh takes me back of doing a few months working in the sand barges and going there to load. that day you filmed cook's was all I can remember of those runs to Brightlingsea was what an old chap I had worked with said "wet shirt & empty guts" as you had to work like stink to make any money over the set pay with tonnage bonus.

Great Vid Chris, nice to see my part of the world, pity the weather wasn't so good for your visit. The "North Sea Ferries" ship sailed out of Ipswich Dock.
