“Man Wearing A Helmet” is one of the most disturbing rap songs I’ve ever heard. I’m wondering if it’s a true story judging by how emotionally brutal and honest that album is. His yells of “All this fucking time I just don’t remember” are haunting
"Mista Thug Isolation" fits in 2012 with the underground trends happening during that time...Purrp and Rocky started a new wave of Memphis worship...but Lil Ugly Mane sounded weirder and kinda crazy honestly, a little bit more futuristic and alien...kinda like how Main Attrakionz, Goth Money, Metro Zu, and Bones were making cloud rap...but Yung Lean came out and didn't seem of this world at all...lol
Everyone was very in your face w it which I love looking back, Ethelwulf on pistol grip sheesh that's a classic to me. Lil Ugly Mane did things differently compared to everyone then tho.. As a Younger version of myself in another country, it was mysterious you didn't know who he or shawn kemp was and the way he pitched his vocals down when you found out he was white then you dig more into his identity. The intrigue of LIL UGLY MANE and how he built his career is legendary!
I’ve never loved an artist like I love ugly mane. He’s brought so much inspiration to my own visual art over the last 3 years, we are blessed to have this man around
the trap hi hats on the "on doing an evil deeds" track is sampled from a guy called geralds "survival". check out the black secret technology album by gerald if u into jungle music, its incredible
Just found this guy based off the new song dismiss youself uploaded, "low tide at the drying out facility". Listened to his most recent album and holy shit, how have I never heard of this guy before. This retrospective is much appreciated
I think this is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. It’s a very comprehensive look on travis’ discography, and I believe it does it justice. Thank you for making this. I wish this video had more views, but at the same time, I like thinking that LUM is underground.. weird spot to be in.
Watch his live performance in Austin at Oblivion Access Festival, it’s an awesome show. At 26 minutes I think there’s a song he hasn’t put out anywhere that’s really good, christmas cowboy
Lil ugly mane and sybyr are the most underrated rappers oat. Def look into sybyr. his album antiworld and hellhorse are some of the most insane stuff I’ve ever heard. You’ll love it

This is awesome man. Found this cause I was relistening to Uneven Compromise thinking about how sadly relevant it is, at least for me. Having been through a time of “casual” drug use, his words describing a lost life hit home. I’ve seen a lot of people go down the path of drugs and never come back. Travis is the realest. I just moved to Baltimore this year and learned that’s actually where MIT was recorded. Absolutely insane discography and one of the best artists period. Thanks again subbed

I’m looking for a lost media version of Lung Pollution. I remember there was a version of Radiation (Lung Pollution) that was either an extended version, an instrumental, or a remix. It included a couple things that aren’t in the regular song. So the end of the song g where the instrumental rolls for a bit is much longer. First of all there’s the Shawn Kemp adlib where it’s a girl saying “Shawn Kemp” and it sounds very lo-fi. Aside from that there’s a low pitched screw-style voice saying “pass I it around, rolling up” multiple times while the “Shawn Kemp” adlib is going off. All of this is mixed in with the vocal samples in the normal version saying getting high, and you got all these samples fusing together on the beat. Am I the only one who remembers this version, was it just some obscure SoundCloud/Datpiff remix?
Mista Thug Isolation represents Mista Thug. Volcanic Bird Enemy represents Lil Ugly Mane. And Oblivion Access represents Travis Miller. At least this is how I view his music.
Felt like Bird enemy was an album he was wanting to make for a long time. The childhood nostalgic cartoony and weird melodies in the album feels extremely personal
Awesome video!! The Lil Ugly Mane boxset is one of the most prized things in my record collection. Also awesome channel as well, this video introduced me and I instantly subscribed 👍
I guess I'm a pretty surface level fan. I like Mista Thug Isolation for its production, and Headboard is my favorite song of his. But Flick Your Tongue Against The Wall has the most intensely perfect raps I've ever heard. I can only listen to Stoop Lights, cause everything else is so fucking dark, but goddamn it blew me away when I heard it.
5:50 I'm desperate to know how he mixes his tracks, not only in mista thug but his three sided tapes too. For me it seems impossible to make music that way, each sound couldn't sound better
“Jesus Piece” i think 100% samples the same sample on a song off The Paper Man by Viper, i can’t remember which one but it def samples one of the songs on there.
@@108Mics In my opinion, Oblivion Access is one of the best albums ever made, although im also a huge fan of his work as Bedwetter, i even have Flick Your Tongue Against Your Teeth and Describe the Present on vinyl, but what he did with OA was something magnificent, i feel like you described it as scattered and dull, but to me what makes it special is how it is masterfully dull when need be, like his mumbling on intent and purulent discharge, and how sharp and precise it gets when he sees fit, like his breakdown of the social climate in Columns which gives me chills every time i hear it. Then theres Opposite Lanes which is one of my favorite Lil Ugly Mane songs of all time purely because the beat is so damn aggressive, and Ugly transfers that energy into his verse perfectly. And i feel like you didnt touch on some key moments that really made the album what it is and sent the message home, like in collapse and appear where he purposely uses AI text to speech because its symbolic to his growing disconnection from himself and those around him, it perfectly displays part of his mental struggle without him even needing to say a word. And with Volcanic Bird Enemy and the Voiced Concern, i feel like i could sum up your review of that album by saying "he tried" but in my eyes that isnt the case at all, i think he struck gold, i love every song on that album and i think he did way better of a job at provoking an emotional response than you gave him credit for, yeah its just about the same voice throughout, but if you didnt cry when you heard Broken Ladder, then in the words of Lil Ugly Mane "we are not the same." once again great work with the vid though man, great jokes, not too serious, not too dismissive, definitely got a new fan.
Great video man! There’s actually a backmasking Easter egg in the intro for Flick Your Tongue Against Your Teeth and Describe The Present Vol. 1 And you forgot to mention the archived live streams from Instagram. There are different versions of songs and a lot of unreleased beats on there that are pretty dope even for the quality they are in. It’s a shame we may not hear them officially, especially the secret circle stuff. Fingers crossed we get at least one more compilation tape.
