I believe Naofumi is actually the spine hero cuz his back hasn't broke from carrying the team
Personally, my favorite part was Raph AND REN both telling Myne to stuff it.
Also, can we just stop for a moment and appreciate WHY Naofumi decided to use the Rage Shield? He himself noted that Filo and Raph might have been able to defeat the boss on their own with enough time, but like Chibi said, drawing the fight out would be a bad idea and put the villagers/knights at risk. Naofumi decided to use Rage mode in order to lower the odds of civilian casualties. It's just one of those good moments that points out what a character considers a win/lose condition.

FILO did not have the claws made from the dragon zombie she ate the purple gem core of the dragon that’s why she raged with Naofumi
Yeah, the claws are from the Slave Merchant
Also the claws were made from wyverns, that are different from dragons (not sure about how much different they are, tough)
@@Kurukuu Generally wyverns are sub-species of dragons and the difference is that a dragon has 4 limbs + wings and a wyvern has 2 legs + wings on the arms.

I love how the other heroes called naofumi a cheat for defeating the boss when they got the most op weapons right at the beginning.
They don't even have the right to call him a cheat. First of all they never played the shield class in any of the games they played and thus know nothing about the shield's abilities. Next they rarely saw anyone play the shield class in the games they played so they have little exposure to the true abilities. Finally the final move Naofumi did was merely a combo move from abilities he already had.
@@stormstory9765 There's also the fact that their weapons are shown to posses similar abilities (changing properties via absorption) and that the curse series are implied to be fueled by hate, something that Naofumi has in bucket loads due to what they put him through in the beginning. The basically gave him the cursed shield, can't call him a cheater for that.

That's basically every DPS player when they are forced to think and get creative rather than spam one move that deals 1000 points of damage everytime.

Any DPS who's too dumb to get creative will never really deal proper damage, combo's, co-ordination and experimentation are *how* a real DPS deals damage and that changes every other fight. Not to mention I could say the same thing about a healer whinging because they stepped too close to a fight and start whinging about having to pay attention cause they can't just spam their AoE/wave heals or a tank who gets mad because a DPS/Support does something too well and it forces them to actively pay attention to their aggro skill cooldowns or not be able to tank properly. Everyone whinges, DPS just get hit the hardest with the mockery.
@@user-er1ue6ui8d Curse series are 7 deadly sins based. The other heroes will unlock the others, but Naofumi unlocked Wrath. Its puzzling why they call it rage shield though, should be called wrath shield. Wrath, Pride, Gluttony seem to be the deadliest, Envy, Lust can't really be ranked due to special circumstances and Sloth is never used, but there is someone that has it. Greed is probably the worst of them all though, shit repercussion and shit ability.
When the 3 heroes have been pampered with skills and equipment, they've neglected experience. Naofumi has experience, and that's what matters in the real world. He's living it, not playing through it like a game from the other 3 heroes.
Plus: he actually goes for the Shield unlocks and each one of then gives permanent bônus for some stuff, the other heroes neglect this so Shield can offset the level difference with pure stats
Precisly its like the other " heros" have had their wallets out and payed to win where as naufumi has grinded through the game and understood the mechanics of the game.
They had help with their College Hero Exams it would seem.

Naofumi is learning his full set of moves, unlocking greater strength through knowledge and practice.
The other heroes are still relying on their levels and superior weapons. They're the people who luck out on great gear, and spam the one move that's op at the beginning, but quickly outclassed once you get to a higher level. They're not learning any new moves, seriously been using the same electric attack from day one.
Basically they were playing on easy mode from the beginning. They could always defeat everything with ease using their high DPS moves. But now that's not working and they fall apart because they don't know how else to fight.
The irony of Ren being butthurt was absolutely delicious. Now they know how Naofumi felt from day 1. They had it easy at the start, but this is basically the point of the "game" where you're forced to either get creative, or get killed.

I'm having a hard time seeing how are the shield class was so bad, they must have had all sorts of special stupid playing the class when they made that assumption.
There is no worst class, in this isekai "heroes" have almost no limit to their growth, it's explained later that what we're seeing now it's very, very weak by hero standards.

I actually think that none of the Heros are actually "bad" people... they each have their own character flaws, but the largest problem with them is, that they STILL believe, that this whole thing is a Video game... They feel like protagonists and are convinced that they are gonna win any fight because of that… Motoyasu is just Incredible naive... he is the essential White Knight, but I believe, that he is someone that would take a bullet for his friends...
Itsuki is to concerned with his Image... HE is a hero and wants to feel like the savior… he wants to be a heroic legend, but doesn`t care about any repercussions
And Ren is a loner that doesn`t want to have to work with others… I agree that ,after Naofumi, he is the closest to be an actual good hero
You got the others dead on but Itsuki is truly a garbage person. Not sure when/if it'll come up this season tho.
Motoyasu is more than just naive, he is completely brain dead and so busy drooling after bitch that he just does whatever she asks of him, it's just as Naofumi put it "She has him completely dancing in the palm of her hand"
I really find the contrasting personalities of the heroes pretty interesting and I do 't like how they all are considered the same. Their personalities are different with different flaws with themselves.

It was kinda hard to notice, but the reason Filo was effected by the curse was because she ate the magic stone that was inside the dragon. I think before she snapped out of it we could see her belly glow.

This was a well deserved W for Naofumi. He took the time to learn the intricacies of the world. And for Bee-atch to insult him "dont you have to go save a village or something?" that wasnt taken as an insult by him, he knows that is his job, a hero doesnt just fight villains, he protects the innocent. My favorite part of this episode was how everyone's jaw dropped once Naofumi activated Iron Maiden. you can actually hear crickets chirping.
I could see Raphtalia and Filo in the background with 'Deal with it' glasses and rocking Iron Maiden songs with Guitar and drums XD

I want her to teach naufumi unarmed combat
She is a former pro adventurer she retired at level 89 the max level for most people is 100 only heroes and special types of monster can go above that so she is pretty fucking tough. She is also the heir to a fighting style that is meant to be used if the summoning of the heroes fails to let a normal person do special attacks that can let them kill monsters much higher level then them selves. These attacks can ignore the enemies defence stat or deal bonus damage to enemies based on their own defence stat.

I think you missed something if seen in the manga, the bow and swordhero did different things to spawn the boss.

The moment i would be happy with the story is when everyone could work together like how they were shown in the early episode. Sure raphtalia and Filo is the only person he probably need, but he should realize that there are more people out there that care about him, same case with how the Goblin Slayer had been solo-ing the entire time until he got his own precious team mates~

Filo was affected because she ate the dragon crystal, not because of her weapons. Parts of the same crystal were used in Naofumis armor

small stubby oba-san ? Sry have we read a different Manga i mean WTF LOL. In the Manga i what i actualy find a bit weird is that her Face sometimes look a bit different and so her Age. But i mean its actualy the complete oposite. In some images she look realy young even a bit childish like and you would guess her age at 8-12 then again it looks more like she is in her twenties. But old dafuq ? and i am talking about Chapter 16.

She first appeared on the third Wave and was mistaken as the boss of the Wave by the Four Legendary Heroes. She later disregards The Spear Hero, The Sword Hero, and The Bow Hero as fools, extremely weak, common adventures & not heroes. She only accepts Naofumi as the only true hero among them due to the events of Naofumi single handily defeating the Soul Eater on his own. She defeated three of the Heroes without breaking any sweat. Glass challenges Naofumi to a duel and wasn't taking no as an answer. During the fight, she questions Naofumi why he wasn't using the flame shield which she saw him use before killing the Soul Eater. Because of that, she felt like she was being mocked at and looked down upon by Naofumi. Later, she was forced to retreat during her fight, due to her running out of time, She appears again to aid L'Arc and Therese against their fight with Naofumi. Once again Glass and her allies were forced to retreat due to them running out of time. But acknowledged Naofumi to be a greater threat, as he grew much stronger in a short amount of time. Due to Kyo, The Book Hero causing Havoc in Naofumi's World by controlling the Spirit Tortoise which was strictly forbidden, she was ordered by her Vassal Weapon to track down and kill Kyo. Glass and Naofumi having a common goal in mind, she formed an alliance with Naofumi to defeat The Book Hero.
After reuniting with her long lost comrade and friend, she was punished by Kizuna for trying to kill Naofumi and the other legendary Heroes. Glass and her comrade later became good friends with Naofumi and his party.
When everybody tries to be Kirito but ends up a Kazuma.

As someone who plays/played MMO's/Moba's religiously as a tank and/or healer. This speaks to me lol.
Sword is in fact, the least bad of the bunch, in fact he's the 1st one to come to Shield side and he actually got the least bad of the curses blowbacks, Reverse Midas Hand and No EXP.
He's the most Logical thinking hero of the 3 but he lacks experience and teamwork. When he open up he becomes the best hero Ally with his backup

No those are arguably the worst in terms of impacting progression. He has terrible luck and cannot hold anything worth value (Greed gives the SHITTIEST power of all 7 so its even worse) and Gluttony is just a nightmare for those wanting to get stronger.

But the manga is more detailed than the anime
However the anime does do a good job of adapting the content that I have read
The anime is ignoring the manga completely it's adapting the source which is the light novel from what it seems
The artwork for the Twin Viper Shield and Shield of Wrath were more detailed in the Manga.

I loved about Ren calling him a cheater.... I heard Beater in my head :) As for Filo, she is tied to the Dragon crystal (she ate most of it and the rest got absorbed by the shield), therefore every time that Neofumi used this shield she will be affected.

One of the things I found very interesting was when the iron maiden was called down. Until then it seemed like skills being used. But this was a summons reminiscent of the FF series. Thought that was a really cool touch.
Be honest, after watching this episode who else wanted a duel re-match between Naofumi and spear guy in the future just to see him in the iron maiden?
You made a lot of good points about how Naofumi is forced to hard carry because of bad teammates, but I also think that because of the people in the kingdom forcing him to take the hard road.

doctor leak he’s only lower level cause they had a boost with the crystal balls and funds giving them a huge head start. Also they capped his party with not allowing a class upgrade. But as far as the world they are pretty ignorant ironic since at the beginning they treated naufumi like a noob for the same reason.

This episode was on another level.
This weeks episode of the rising of the shield hero was fantastic cus we finally got another wave episode after 6 or so episodes of building it up. We got to learn what those trinkets did like boost speed for Filo and mana for Raphtalia. Finding out that the old lady wasn't just a side character was a surprise, and seeing the sword and bow help Naofumi was great and I hate them less then before, can't say the same for the spear hero tho. Getting to witness the rage shied was so cool and learning that the shield absorbs the negative emotions of the enemies that it absorbs was nice to know, seeing the iron maidan for the first time in anime form was really great and I guess that character from the intro with the fans is "evil" I think.

I’m sure hyped that glass has finally been introduced, though in the web novel Naofumi had used Iron Maiden against glass which is what had warded her off so I’m pretty in the dark about what’s going to happen next episode
The Bow hero becomes so much worse later in the manga, he acts like such an entitled envious child, and unlike the spear hero who does things out of ignorance, Bow hero does so out of Envy & Malice.
Its almost as if they are meant to unlock their own curse series or weapons
Especially the events regarding Rishia shows his personality the most clearly.

I think the important part that you didn't mention is that Iron Maiden is a fusion of a rage and classic shields. The rage shields are red, classic tree is blue and this one was purple. It even shows the process of combining the two trees as they flash one over the other and then it shows the several purple posibilities from which the Pipe shield (classic) and the Change shield (rage) unlock the Iron Maiden...

Something that we've been shown in this episode is that the Curse Skill Tree is definitely a whole tree and not just the regular Skill Tree being overcome with rage, when the rage shield was activated we also saw the dragon shield, which gave Naofumi his draconic armour, specifically in the Curse Skill Tree instead of the regular one so in order to use his shield to its fullest potential, Naofumi is gonna have to use the rage shield despite the possible side effects. Something else I'd like to point out is that when Naofumi uses the rage shield, his eyes are a definite indicator of how in control he is, when he first uses it his eyes are fully red, he had no control, when he first uses it in this episode his eyes are tinted red, this shows he's not fully in control either being on the verge of losing control and going full rage mode or just being kind of angry in general but not at risk of losing control, then when he uses 'Iron Maiden' (another skill unique to the Curse Skill Tree) we can see his eyes have gone back to normal, implying that he has full control over the Rage Shield
