      We went and ate the best steaks ever at Summit Mountain Lodge. It was a bit of a drive from our motel, but totally worth it

      We also had one of our best meals at the two sisters cafe. The shank was incredible and the huckleberry pie is to die for 🤤

    I went to Glacier once or twice a year from 1988-2000, but never hiked this trail. I’m a stone’s throw from 70 now, but may have one good hike left. If not, I’ll be watching your video frequently.

      I think if you pick a good day, train yourself up and take the boat in the morning to cut off some miles you could do it. If you take the boat in the morning, you’ll have the rest of the day to hike at your leisure. Take lots of breaks and enjoy the views along the way.

    Love that hike....
    Taken it both ways. The switchbacks from Old Man lake to Pitamakin Pass was in full bloom (August). Best floral display I've encountered in my 35+ years hiking and climbing in Glacier Park.

      Oh wow! I wish I could have seen the flowers there. We hiked in September so wildflower season was past

      @@whereivebeenwandering it's a consideration. In all my years hiking and climbing, I did find certain places at certain times offered up some gems.
      Another Two Medicine area gem is an early season hike to Scenic Point. When you get to the last saddle, the snowpack blocks the trail. Just scramble up and around and head to the viewing spot (it's obvious) and the look back into the valley (west) is spectacular, especially when juxtaposed against the open prairie view looking east

    Thanks for the great video. It helps me a lot. Is there any steep drop offs from trailhead to Pitamakan Pass? I am afraid of height, so I plan to hike to the saddle between oldman and Pitamakan lake and then go back the same way instead of doing the loop.

    • @whereivebeenwandering
      @whereivebeenwandering  Год назад

      Not really. There are some steep slopes on the switchbacks up Pitamakan but no drop offs. The trail is plenty wide so that should help you if you are afraid of heights. You could just keep on going up to Dawson where there is a great viewpoint as well and then turn around from there or see if the trail is doable for you. 🙌🏻
