  • Durga Puja in Kolkata is unparalleled for the glitz and glamour. Durga Puja is not just a festival for Bengalis, it’s also a moment of nostalgia and emotion. Right from getting the Pujo Pujo gondho, the serene view of kash-phul to the Ashtami-r-Anjali and Bijoya Dashami-r-Sindoor Khela, it is the most awaited time of the year.
While most Bengalis head back to their hometown, there are unlucky few like me who can’t return home to celebrate the festival. But adversity is the mother of innovation, and we expat Bengalis have found our own unique way of celebrating Durga Pujas away from home.
As an organizer, I have seen Pujo very closely in Bengal as well as Bangalore. But the way a Probashi Bangali Pujo crosses all the T’s and dots all the I’s, I have not experienced in Bengal before. This video letter is an attempt to present how we organize and celebrate the festival keeping our traditions alive, more importantly amalgamating all regional festivals into one giant celebration by the name Harmony Mahotsav! We don't miss Kolkata for Durga Pujo anymore.
Special thanks to all the members of Harmony Cultural Welfare Association, of which I am a part of. This is my tribute to all your efforts, that all of you have been doing, to make our Durga Puja magical, year on year. This cinematic rendition is for all of us to relive those beautiful days and inspire us weave the magic of Harmony Mahotsav in years to come.
