Loved the video wanted to add this. I'm actually going for my PhD in biomedical research what made me so upset and this ending was... It made absolutely no sense. I completely don't mind suspending disbelief but the entire reason for the movie turned out to be these drug trials except... how ??? the drugs were in the drinks before they got on the beach and with how quickly they aged the drugs would have worn off in seconds it just wouldn't work even if you somehow have them a strong enough dose to last them literal years on a single does that would probably just kill then instantly. Like I said suspending disbelief is fine but if your entire twist is centered around a team of scientists doing experiments I think the experiments should kinda make sense

Great script, presentation and edit. The opening gave me strong Tom Scott vibes :) Underrated channel and video.

Shamamylan twist. Don’t always work, but it’s interesting to see it fumble.

How ironic that you couldn’t find a satisfying ending to a video about an unsatisfying ending. Heh.

I think the main problem with Shaymalan's twists is that lately they seem to be where all of the attention goes into. The rest of the film doesn't really get the attention it needs to be a completely coherent and enjoyable story.
The graphic novel, as stated in the video, doesn't have a conclusive/satisfying ending, but its themes and subject matter is present throughout. The film feels like it's ending was kind of taken from a different film, completely unrelated from what the rest of the story was trying to say, going from a narrative about how pervasive and inescapable death is into a science fiction thought experiment about morality. Both ideas have great potential for film adaptations, but they clearly don't work together.

I don't know what kind of insight this provides, but watching this without having heard of either of these things, it makes me want to read the book a lot more than it makes me want to watch the movie. And movies are *way* shorter than books. Great video as always, happy new year!

Thank you very much for watching and a happy new year to you as well! I do recommend the book, though this video probably spoiled a lot of the magic, as it's probably best as a blind read-through.
