I’ll run through a quick personal Top 5. Honorable Mentions: Gengar, Metagross, Sceptile, and Camerupt - all really cool for their own reasons with my own personal attachments to each one. 5. Charizard X - cool as hell with a potential to sweep a lot. I actually like a Charizard 4. Gardevoir - really elegant Pokemon that I keep liking as time goes on. The colors are nice on both the regular and shiny, and Pixilate is great 3. Ampharos - sometimes you need a goofy mega, and Ampharos is the man for the job. I love the hair and added Dragon typing 2. Aggron - it makes him look like a beastly fortress. It being pure Steel w/ Filter is a blessing and a half and it has come through for me so much 1. Lopunny - one of the most reliable Pokemon I’ve ever used. You can’t switch into Normal/Fighting Scrappy from something that fast and strong. It also got me to appreciate base Lopunny, which is something not many Megas have done
Apparently Ampharos’s mega evolution is dragon type because its Japanese name, “Denryu”, is a pun on “electric dragon”. I guess this a Charizard situation, where it finally got the typing it “deserved.”
Mega Lopunny is 100% A tier for it being the perfect showcase for what Mega Evolution is supposed to be: taking irrelevant Pokemon and making them relevant in a big way. Lopunny falls off super hard at the end of early game just because it doesn't have to stats to back up its surprisingly wide and deep move pool. Being a mono Normal type hurts it a lot, and while its Speed is decent enough to make use of some moves like Baton Pass or some buff moves, it doesn't have the Attack or Special Attack to take advantage of the fact it has a lot of pretty powerful moves. Normal/Fighting with Scrappy, and massive boosts to both its Attack and Speed fixes all of that, and makes Mega Lopunny a viable threat on the battlefield. A fully neutral STAB combo paired with Scrappy to ignore Ghost immunity means nothing can hard check or wall this bunny, and anything going up against it is gonna feel the pain.
Whew it's sure a good thing that John wasn't here cuz if he talked smack about Lucario again I might've actually gone insane. But even if he was there, I think y'all shouldn't count his takes just for this once anyway. Would've loved to see that happen actually, him trying so hard to dislike Lucario for no reason only for his tier placing to get ignored. 😂
Hidden power podcast put ampharos in A tier I agree with them not y'all it sounds like you don't even read the lore of the Pokemon to understand why it's a dragon type in it's mega evolution. Uneducated people rambling about what's good and what's not yikes I think I'll leave to another channel now
