Thank you Marty. The often unused verse were new to me. Dark as a Dungeon is one of my favorite stories. For conversation, anyone know the pen who wrote this?
He's not a great singer, but a great guitarist and country entertainer. He also deserves great credit for keeping the golden years of country alive, and not giving in to the modern crap that dominates the industry today.
I have a job in a good country rock band, sing a couple tunes, people say I sound good on some things, play guitar mostly. I wish that I had the vocal skills this fine gentleman has.
Thank you so much Marty for keepin the real country alive.
I could listen to him tell stories for days
That, my friends, is how you cover a timeless classic. Bravo, Marty!
This man is a national treasure.
Marty is my favourite teacher, honestly.❤
That is a powerful rendition of a heart-rending song. Fantastic, Marty.
Thank you Marty. Love that song. It never gets old.
he sang this in the cave at the PBS taping last month. bluegrass underground. it will blow you away.
One of the best goddamn renditions I’ve ever heard.
I agree with marty always loved that third verse but seldom heard it
Such a touching interpretation of the Merle Travis classic. Big Smiles. CMJ #anabundantlife
I enjoy seeing a virtuoso picker just strum through a song sometimes.
This version, by Marty Stuart, is really good. I like Simplicity . Thanks.
ya gotta love Marty and Merle
Great job ;) Kentucky native here
WGAF where you are from? Did someone say something to make you think anyone gives a rat’s ass?
there is no one like Marty Stuart
The coolest cat in town! I love this soooo much! The Cave version on PBS brought me here.
Excellent!
Anyone know what model Martin guitar
Marty is playing?
Hot damn, my man. 👍🍻
Marty is a treat! He slaps his guitar and knocks a string out of tune which gives him a "present" moment and he grins.
is there anymore to this program?
Very Charismatic

Merle Travis
This came from a documentary about Merle Travis. If you ever get a chance, watch it.
Marty Stuart is a good’un
What to do with fifty some original gospel songs and not place to sing them. Put them all on this tube thing.

You must be deaf mate or no taste .
This is super cool, tho wondering if he had to smoke a few packs of ciggies to get the vocals just so?
Sounds like something Townes Vanzant would write.
But Merle Travis did. So...
Look at that old scratched up guitar. It will not even stay in tune when he slaps it.
He looks very, very ill?
